That was some header. Wow. And Italy should take advantage with a man advantage, too bad they look exhausted.

It's hard to pick a side. I wanted France to win for Zizou, until his stupid behaviour. And Italy is a disgrace for the constant diving. Now it's a lottery.

Penalty Kicks deciding the World Cup Champion...the gayest thing I've ever heard of. This is precisely why the US will never take to Soccer...what a waste of a Sunday afternoon. Might as well just end in a tie...it'll mean just as much.

Holy lost legacy Zidane.....wow....Materazzi must have mentioned how good his wife was in bed throughout the tourney...only thing I can think of.

Italy will win in PK's for the first time ever....Buffon is on fire and France doesn't have Henry or Zidane on the pitch.

Funny how Italy is boed for every touch since the Zidane red card....most didn't see it obviuosly.

I'd love to see a replay of the match maybe 3-4 days later if it's tied after extra time. But I agree with Dave010 that it won't happen because of the tug of war between the governing body and the clubs.

Best wishes,

Disagree!!!....Either the diving was a draw or France lead it...afterall there only goal came off of a dive.

As for the play...The last 60 minutes Italy packed it in. Even with the advantage in men they had no interest in scoring.
Hate to see it decided this way but based on play its hard to pick a winner...Id give a slight edge towards France but then there goal was garbage and Italy hit a crossbar and had one taken away....so...

whatever... LOL.... :P

According to a British stat, Italy led the category in "diving & theatrics" throughout the WC.

I don't give a f*ck how many people are watching...it's still the dumbest possible way to end a championship. Absolutely ridiculous.

To each their own. I personally hate to see a champ crowned like that. It would be like playing 5 quarters of football and then having the placekickers do a best of 5 to see who wins the Super Bowl. I just don't think it makes any sense. Ah well.

Tough, tough way to lose any game let alone a final.

But Zidane really deserves a kick in the nuts for that act of absolute stupidity which could well have cost his team the game. If I was a teammate I'd be absolutely pissed off with him.

He may be remembered more for that moment than for all the great football he's played - a real shame but he has only himself to blame.

Best wishes,

Doug

In the heat of the moment, Zidane goes from being mentioned with Pele and Maradona as the World's greatest ever....to a tragic display of bad sportsmanship that was disgraceful.

Congrats to Italy for grinding our their 4th World Cup Victory.

France played the better game, Zidane ejection while not 100% to blame for the loss pissed off the soccer gods. The Italians won an ugly game, and for the most part played a very uninspired win.

Before Zidane's red card, I would have said that France deserved to win. After no team deserves to win a game like that.

Just inexcusable. He made an angel out of W. Rooney.

Again, line up a PK with that pressure after playing 120 minutes of football and it makes sense.

Sorry Bill, but your NFL analogy doesn't stack up IMO... mega breaks...timeouts....etc....a 60 minute game that takes at a minimum...180 minutes to play?
