Good stuff, Terry. Thanks.

3 weeks later and I've still got steam coming out of my ears about that Packers game!!

Zep I don't expect the stats to be perfect I just though the stats would add some interest to the league. If they made it easy to download the darn video clips I would of put together a weekly highlight show.
Dan it's cool. I really dig what you've done, I just wanted to remind everyone about that little imbalance, that's all.

Cards leave the unbeaten ranks with a 20-13 loss to the Giants despite outgaining New York 358-135 and the G-Men being 0-for-5 on 3rd down.

When Kurt Warner throws 5 picks (4 of them flutterballs as he's hit), games are lost. Never been more frustrated and happy at the same time, because when I was up 13-0 I felt completely handcuffed that I couldn't just run the ball and run out the clock. Instead I'm forced to throw short underneath completions to try to beat the pressure, and GameSe7en did a marvelous job of forcing me to go 15 plays to get a score. Turnovers and mistakes made the Cards 5-1, while the Giants improve to 6-2.

Mark1177,

Please let me know if you're available to play. We do NOT want the wrath of Dan. I fear it.

And #1 in the power rankings? Surprising, since I've got probably the most boring offense on the planet (notice virtually no Dolphins in the statistical leaders).

Though I must taunt those who think I don't use Ginn enough (*cough*Zeppo*cough*).

Not so fast my friend........you are tied for the best TO difference in the league ;) That REALLY attributes to the Browns 4-2 record. Young squad that won't quit and gets after it.

Rams lose 9-3 in OT in dramatic fashion as a muted Colts team strikes with the hit stick forcing a fumble that was scooped up and returned for a TD.

Good game Bad....Fix that Mic!

Edit: Here is the game winning play...SOB!...As you can see the hit forced the fumble. The win was well earned....Though I will be switching teams next season  ....No Im not :D

The 49ers came up two yards short of their first victory, losing 24-20 to the Houston Texans in a game that saw four lead changes in the last five minutes.

As he has all season, Texans QB Matt Schaub connected with Andre Johnson on a deep pass for a score. Schaub fooled the 49er secondary on a play-action pass, floating the ball into Johnson's hands for a 53-yard touchdown. The teams then traded field goals to make it 10-3 in favor of the Texans at the half.

The 49ers took the second half kickoff and marched down the field, converting two key third-down attempts and getting Frank Gore into the end zone on a three-yard touchdown run. Gore kept the San Francisco offense going on the ground and in the air, rushing 17 times for 84 yards while also catching eight passes for 67 yards.

In the fourth quarter, a familiar disaster struck the Texans again as yet another Schaub pass was intercepted for a touchdown. San Francisco cornerback Dre Bly jumped in front of a pass intended for Kevin Walter and raced 53 yards for the score and a 17-10 49er lead.

Schaub rallied his team on the ensuing drive, hitting Kevin Walter on two big plays to set up a 14-yard TD run by Steve Slaton that tied the game at 17-17.

Shaun Hill displayed his own comeback moxie by marching the 49ers into field goal range, allowing Joe Nedney to hit a 36-yarder that gave the 49ers the lead with 1:25 left in the game.

Two plays later, the lead changed again as Steve Slaton took a screen pass 62 yards for the score and a 24-20 lead.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The drama was far from over even though the game looked lost as the 49ers only made it to their 32-yard line before using their last time out. With the Texans playing prevent, Hill was forced to hit tight end Vernon Davis at midfield. Three Texans players converged for the tackle, but Davis had other plans.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Breaking a tackle and letting the three Texans players take themselves out of the play, Davis sprinted for the goal line and the game-winning score. He looked gone until free safety Eugene Wilson caught him inside the five-yard line and managed to drag him down at the two as time expired, preserving the Texans win and handing the 49ers their sixth straight loss.

Terry, extraordinarily gracious in the loss. If I might add, if anyone told me that I'd win a game where:

-Eli Manning would earn an 18.7 rating by going 7/18-100-3INT-0TD
-Brandon Jacobs would go 12-33-1TD-1FUM
-Matt Stover would miss a PAT by going short
-ARI would outpossess NY 23 min to 9 and outdistance them 358-135 in total offense.
-ARI would lead 13-0 heading into the fourth quarter.

I would think it a bad joke. Yet witness the odd plays that led to the Giants overcoming the deficit and winning the game despite being the far worse performer of the match.

The Cardinals would have to end the first half with a FG and a 6-0 score instead of 10-0 after falling just shy of the Giants EZ on this reception by Boldin:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

After driving the length of the field in just under 4 minutes in the third to extend their lead to 13-0, the Cardinals watched the Giants put together their one solid drive of the rainy night capped by this fluky red zone pass to the Giants tight end as I frantically tapped the A button to hike the ball after an audible.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The Giants would punch the ball in to begin the fourth and then the inexplicable happened, as Stover would fall short on the PAT for the second time this year (sometimes I struggle with lag on the kick meter or, in the case of the two missed PATs, to register an 'up' stick at all ).

With time running out on the Giants and the Cardinals marching down the field again, the Giants D steps up and benefits from the Madden flutterball engine with the following plays with 3 minutes remaining and under 2 to play, respectively.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Scoring TDs as a result of these plays would put the Giants up 20-13 with 1:30 to go, yet Arizona was not finished. As the Giants D played loose not wanting to give up the big play, Warner marches the Cardinals down to within first and goal. Finally, out of timeouts with 16 seconds left in the game and the Cards facing second and goal from the 3, the Giants seal the win with this pressure on the Cards (essentially) empty backfield.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

As I said to Terry, I felt dirty winning the game that way as he was very much the better player for most of the night. Thanks for the kind words in your recap. It was definitely a strange game.

The Bears turned in easily their best performance of the season against the hapless Bungles in a 35-18 victory that wasn't nearly as close as the numbers would seem to indicate.

Things got off to a typically dismal start for the Bengals, with both Carson Palmer and JT O'Sullivan going down to injury on the first series of the game! Third-stringer Jordan Palmer was unable to get the wheels moving at all, resulting in a first quarter with only 21 yds of offense for the hosts.

The Bears OTOH scored on each of their first two drives. Jay Cutler, Devin Hester and Matt Forte all started their way toward big days. Hester, who scorched the Bengals secondary to the tune of 157yds receiving, opened the scoring with this 31-yd TD catch:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The next drive saw a great 35-yd run by Matt Forte who demonstrated a great combo of power and speed.

Carson Palmer returned briefly in the second quarter, leading an effiient drive that ended in a Chad Ochocinco TD grab of 7yds...but the Bengal's MVP would go down twice more to injury during the 2nd quarter.

The second half opened with a ridiculous bang, as Cedric Benson took the first play from scrimmage 78yds...despite seemingly being stopped by a scrum of no fewer than 7 Bears defenders (EA, where's that patch?!).

The ensuing kickoff? You guessed it...Hester time. His 4th TD return in 7 games.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The Bears speedster would finish the day with over 300yds of total offense and 3TD! His third coming on a beautifully delivered long ball by Cutler, who finished the day 14/18 for 267yds and 3TDs. Matt Forte had another solid day going 19 rushes for 126yds and a TD.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The Bears defense was tough all day, knocking the Bengals QB's about repeatedly and forcing several turnovers. The key turnover in the game coming in the 4th quarter with Palmer (who really had a fine second half) driving in for a score when Chris Henry was stripped by Kevin Payne.

The injuries and turnovers really doomed the Bengals.

Well the Falcons had their best overall performance of the year in a pivotal game against the Cowboys in their new home. Final score: 42-20 Falcons.

The first quarter started off like gangbusters. Game opened up with the Boys taking the first drive in for a score with a Barber 14 yard scamper taking about 4 minutes off the clock. The Falcons responded with a 3 play drive that ended with a 21 yard TD run by Turner. Felix Jones then proceded to take the kickoff 103 yards to the house (video below hopefully):

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Falcons responded again with a 1 play 77 yard strike from Ryan to White to tie the game at 14.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The Falcons defense finally came to play on the next Cowboy possession; Chris Lofton picked off Romo and took it back 43 yards for the pick six to give the Falcons a 21-14 lead after the first quarter.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

The second quarter was all Michael Turner...he scored on a 69 yard run and a 26 yard run to give the Falcons a 35-14 lead going into halftime.

The Falcons received the second half kickoff and proceeded to go on a drive that took the whole third quarter and ended with a 7 yard Norwood pass into the flats for the TD. This drive pretty much sealed the deal...the Cowboys scored later in the 4th on a Barber 5yd run and missing the 2 pt conversion. Final score 42-20.

Good game BHow. I actually didn't turn the ball over at all for I think the first time and my offense just seemed to be clicking.

Good game man. I hated that it ended on a turnover but I think if I would have scored that TD before the half, we might not have ever went to OT. Then again, you might have went for it on 4th and inches down there if you were down by 7 instead of 3. Between you and me, I would have went for it anyway.

About the mic...like I told Terry, I'm not being anti social, it's just that when I use the mic I tend to talk too much and wind up not getting my play called in time or get delay of game penalties because I'm talking and not paying attention to what I'm doing. Hell I don't even use the mic when I play the guys I work with.
It just winds up being a big distraction for me.

Personally, I think the mic should be used for any game online with DSP guys. Takes all the fun out of it to play a glorified CPU game.

Truth, Good game and write up. You totally dominated me. After that 1st quarter, I couldn't do anything on offense. and my defense was totally non existent. It really was a typical Cowboy game to lose at home in this fashion All credit to your O and D.

Also, that one hand pick by Lofton was outstanding.

Terry, I could not agree more. It's the hallmark of the DSP leagues. The games are ok fun on their own, but it's the chit chat and the cameraderie and the 'free phone calp' aspects of it that really make it worth it for me.

And trust me, no one can distract himself into delay of games more thaN XXXIV.

And Terry, thanks a ton for rallying on those power rankings. It's super cool. I don't think you'd need to do it every week, I mean every real life week, but just occasionally would be great. Thanks a lot man! :)

No sweat. It's really not tough to do, only takes me a few minutes. Just wish I knew how to get the table into a post here. HTML code copied over doesn't seem to fly for me.

...but will anybody care if I switch teams?

Even if I don't go to the Raiders, maybe the Niners? I need a strong running game to have fun. I think that's part of my lack of real "oomph" in the league. I know exactly what's going to happen every game, and it's throwing every down because if the other team sees me in a running formation, it's blown up 2 yards deep. My best success is running out of a shotgun, but those plays get blown up frequently by a simple pass blitz lol

I am fine with Terry switching teams. In fact, I don't have any problem with anyone changing teams as long as they go to a team that has an equal or worse record than their own.

As for the mic, I can understand some folks not wanting to use it. I would just appreciate if they can at the start to say hi and then not use it. Or, when scheduling, to mention they don't use the mic.

I agree on both counts. I'm a mic-using chatterbox, but I'm not a fan of mandating things as a rule, particularly when it comes to videogaming. LOL It would be polite for the non-mic users to let the rest of us know, however.
