Man, Crosby has looked gassed the last three games, especially tonight. He has very little jump, despite his constant effort. Take care, PK
I think they had like just 20 shots or less on Ozzie.

And yes #87 looked tired, especially after that hit from Brad Stuart. He was never the same after that.

HipE wrote:Congrats to the Wings, they were clearly the better team this series and are very deserving champs. I really enjoyed watching them play this series, I never developed any kind of animosity towards any of their players or their coach. Classy team, and a great team to bow out to.
Very well said, Hip.

It's no secret that I'm not a Wings' fan. But it's impossible to hate this team. It's so complete, so well coached, so skilled that it's just a treat to watch.

Plus Babcock is a masterful coach, and Nick Lidstrom is an ideal captain and a worthy man to hoist the Stanley Cup.

Lidstrom truly is a cyborg on skates -- the guy is as close to a perfect player this league will see for this generation. He has no weaknesses. When he retires, Lidstrom will stand with Orr, Harvey, Shore and Bourque as one of the five greatest defensemen to ever play the game. (Damn, have there been some good D men in Beantown, or what?)

This was a fun series even though Detroit had control nearly all of the way. Hard-fought, many one-goal games, good hitting, decent skill, superb goaltending. A fitting season finale for the greatest sport of them all.

Congrats to the Wings and all their fans, especially Jack-diggity.

While I still get goosebumps watching the Cup get hoisted every time, I'm also a bit sad. Hockey season is over. Coming up are four of the loneliest sports months of the year for me. Sure, racing, boxing, Euro 2008 soccer and the start of football are nice filler.

But nothing can replace hockey for me. My wife doesn't have to worry about infidelity by me because my mistress is a pair of skates, a stick, a puck and a clean sheet of ice.

Lord, I LOVE this game.

Take care,
PK

Say, did you guys know that Dan Cleary is the first Newfoundland native to win the Stanley Cup?

Christ, if Emerick tossed out that trivia tidbit one more time either Monday night or last night, I think I was going to pull an Elvis and shoot my TV set. A glaring example of the annoyance that is Mike Emerick.

Plus Emerick flat out blew a key call in the game late last night when he, McGuire and Olcyzk said Pittsburgh had four forwards on the ice with about three minutes remaining. Anyone with even 20-200 vision could see that Gonchar and Orpik were on the ice at that time.

Take care,
PK

Yep, first newfie to hold Lord Stanley. That town will be filling up with new jokes pretty soon. R. Shero will have his hands full this summer, a lot of UFA's to re-sign, I am not sure if he'll keep M. Hossa, but guys like Malone and Orpik are just the type of guys I would like in my team.

He'll have to extend Malkin's contract eventually despite his poor performance vs DET and I have to blame it a bit on coach Therrien on his decision to keep playing him as a point man on the PP's. When you have a guy like R. Whitney who's very mobile why keep trying the Russian who was very predictable in his intentions. Nevertheless, a great guy to follow when he's on, but he's got to cut down on those neutral zone turnovers.

PIT will look slightly different next season but they have gained a lot of experience in these playoffs.

HNIC's coverage was average in my view, Bobby Cole had his share of mistakes calling the games during this series and I really missed P. MGuire on the bench as he does usually for TSN with his useful insights. Why CBC doesn't adopt that feature is something I don't get.

Because it would force Craig Simpson to actually work instead of making his usual vanilla, cliched analysis of a game.

Sorry, but Simmer isn't worthy of a spot next to Jim Hughson. I always have thought Greg Millen has a much keener analytical eye than Simpson and enjoyed the tandem of Hughie and Millen much more than Hughie and Simpson. But Millen rubs people the wrong way because he isn't afraid to express a forceful opinion.

I think Olcyzk and McGuire are a damn good color tandem. They're both opinionated and find a lot of the subtlety and strategy in the game. Pair them with Hughson, and you'd have a dream team.

I'd also love to hear Hughie and Ray Ferraro in the booth -- now that would be the ultimate hockey announcing team.

Take care,
PK

I actually like Simmer better than Millen, PK. And it's not so much that Greg rubs me the wrong way but I find him correcting himself quite often especially after a replay as I think his 20-20 vision is not at par with other color analysts. And no one should be afraid to express any opinion on the tube but when you're more wrong than right, then we have an issue. And I've been listening to Milly for a few years now. Now Ray Ferraro is in another level. Him and Hughie would be awesome together and with Pierre in between the benches you got the dream team right there.

How about Ferraro between the benches Olcyzk in the booth with whoever .
Now that would be class , especialy if youve ever heard them two together before like on the Jim Rome show or something.

If that knob mcguire says Edso once more im going Al Iafrate slap shot on him. At least ill have forgotten by the time Hockey rolls round again.

Anyone in Canada see that senile git Don Cherry's drunken rant last night on 'Coach's Corner'? That was hilarious.

He needs to be started on a cognitive enhancer and put in a home for his safety.

EDIT: I know saying anything mildly critical of Don Cherry is considered blasphemy in Canada but I can't stand the guy.

Parade today. Looking out my office window, lots of red, lots of fun. People were lined up Woodward very early this morning.

Great day to be in Detroit.

I can only imagine this town if the Lions were to ever win a championship.
