While I was glad to see the officials swallow their whistles a bit after watching Duncan's ridiculous parade to the free throw line for seven games, that does not mean I want them to ignore one of the most blatant travels in the history of the NBA on the last shot of the game. If you have Tivo, watch the last shot it's amazing... Diaw picks up his pivot not once, but TWICE, and throws an extra step in for good measure. It looks like he's doing the French version of the Time Warp Dance. Ridiculous...

Woulda been a lot less noticeable if Stackhouse didn't push him. Do you really think they would call either of those?Kazuya wrote:While I was glad to see the officials swallow their whistles a bit after watching Duncan's ridiculous parade to the free throw line for seven games, that does not mean I want them to ignore one of the most blatant travels in the history of the NBA on the last shot of the game. Stackhouse barely even touched him after he caught the ball. He might have fouled him when he bit on the fake, but that was well after Diaw was 3/4 of the way through his entire dance routine. And yes, after calling a lame offensive foul on Harris when Nash was *behind* him and both players were 30 feet away from the hoop, I was hoping they would call a blatant travel.dbdynsty25 wrote:Woulda been a lot less noticeable if Stackhouse didn't push him. I will definitely agree with you on the offensive foul on Harris. Even after they replayed it a few times I was wondering where the foul was. That one, I would have complained about. The travel, no way...Stackhouse stuck a hand in Diaw's back as soon as he got the ball and started his first pivot...hence the travel...and the no call.
Yeah, it was a blatant travel. I was just about to rewind the DVR to see it, but it was clear on the instant replays.
I thought the call on Harris was a makeup call for when Nash got fouled a minute or two before on the other end and they didn't call it. I'm not a big fan of the "make-up" call, but I think it evened out in this case.

Yeah LeBron is such a vicious finisher in part because he often takes off more than once on the same drive.
Well he's a legend in the making don't you know?
He's got the ability to make this favortism unnecessary. I like to see him light the scoreboard up as much as anyone. But don't break the rules for him.
For one thing, his footwork looks terrible. Oh I know, he jumps so high -- but only because he's not playing basketball on some of those drives. Some of those moves are more worthy of the half-time show.

make-up calls shouldn't come :55 left in the game. that was BS! However, they made a mistake and that was not the reason Dallas lost last nite. They lost because they choked. Once again, Dirk let's his old buddy pop a 3 in his mug. I'm like, wtf are you backing off on him for. I'd rather he beat Dirk off the dribble and get two than to give up 3.Leebo33 wrote:Yeah, it was a blatant travel. The reason the Suns NEED Raja Bell in this series...Josh Howard...he was deadly. Raja needs to get back quick. The Suns were in the game and had control in the 2nd and 3rd...but lost it when Howard dominated going to the hoop towards the end of the third. Frankly, I'm surprised the Suns are playing these games this close...the are ridiculously undermanned.

The games are close when the opposition forces you to play at their pace. The Mavs cut down on Nash taking the inbound at damn near half court. They didn't let nash throw the 50-yard bounce pass to Marion where he goes in for the dunk. The key was transition defense. No more sitting back admiring your shot. Less focus on crashing the boards. Miss or make, get your ass back down court. I think this series has changed with Diop's effectiveness during the time he played. We still had bad games by Terry and Stack though both came on in the 4th. I still can't fathom the Suns winning when they play no defense at all. I'm sure Avery and the coaching staff aren't done tweaking the defense.dbdynsty25 wrote:The reason the Suns NEED Raja Bell in this series...Josh Howard...he was deadly. Raja needs to get back quick. One thing is for sure, Bell better get back quick. Games every other day, 6 or 7 man rotation ain't gonna get it done. The legs will go and so will all those jumpers.
Still don't know why Nash only scored 1 time in the 2nd half. I know with Diop in he wasn't getting into the lane flingin up those crazy shots.
Again, the Mavs still haven't had all their guys put it together offensively. I just can't fathom the Suns winning the series and if they do, i'll be sick. Clearly, the better team is Dallas, but Phoenix has this damn "bit" where they run up and down the court putting up points quickly and playing no defense. A 10 point lead with 2 to play is nothing....sigh. To Phoenix we go.
So I guess you were upset when Dirk traveled not once but twice on the same play with about 1:30 left, which came shortly after Marion was called for traveling. That was a potential 5-6 point swing in a 4 point game at the time. Dirk shuffled his feet and then took three steps on his way to the basket.Kazuya wrote:While I was glad to see the officials swallow their whistles a bit after watching Duncan's ridiculous parade to the free throw line for seven games, that does not mean I want them to ignore one of the most blatant travels in the history of the NBA

Yeah that was pretty weak...but then again, they only call that one out of 10 times...so it's expected. The Suns shouldn't have won that game...they had a horrible 4th, just like the Mavs did two days prior. One call does not make the game...Leebo33 wrote:So I guess you were upset when Dirk traveled not once but twice on the same play with about 1:30 left, which came shortly after Marion was called for traveling. Three steps on the way to the basket definitely, the travel when he put the ball on the floor (if he even did) certainly can't be called because if they did players like Tony Parker and Barbosa would have to retire for all of the traveling they do. Definitely a violation that I don't feel good about winning with, but not even in the same solar system as the Diaw travel, which was a top 5 travel in the history of the NBA in terms of ground covered and dancing.Leebo33 wrote:So I guess you were upset when Dirk traveled not once but twice on the same play with about 1:30 left, which came shortly after Marion was called for traveling. Yeah...all aided by the shove by Stackhouse. It all evens out in the world of hoops. Sometimes you get the call, sometimes you don't. I don't know why you're whining so much. The Mavs are clearly a better team and they should still be able to win the series fairly easily...especially if Bell continues to sit.Kazuya wrote:Definitely a violation that I don't feel good about winning with, but not even in the same solar system as the Diaw travel, which was a top 5 travel in the history of the NBA in terms of ground covered and dancing.
Time to replace your Tivo, it's introducing artifacts into your video... Stackhouse never touched him.dbdynsty25 wrote: Yeah...all aided by the shove by Stackhouse. It all evens out in the world of hoops. Sometimes you get the call, sometimes you don't. I don't know why you're whining so much.
The Suns are every bit as good as the Mavs, and if the Mavs don't start playing better they are going to lose... with or without Bell.dbdynsty25 wrote:The Mavs are clearly a better team and they should still be able to win the series fairly easily...especially if Bell continues to sit.

Do you guys realize there's only been 5 different teams to win the NBA Finals since 1987? The Lakers, Pistons, Bulls, Rockets, and Spurs are the only 5 teams to have won it all in the past 19 years. If the Heat can eliminate the Pistons we'll be guaranteed a new NBA champion.
I am a patient boy.

I hate to say it, but right now the Heat deserve to beat the Pistons. I don't know what happened, if the team's collective tank has run dry or what, but Detroit is not playing the same kind of basketball that they have been all year long (or in the past few playoffs). It 's really disheartening to see how easily the Heat can get points in the paint how much the team is settling for long jumpers on offense. They're just not the same team right now.

Good observation and unless Detroit can somehow win the next three games, there will be a new champion this year and it could be the Miami Heat which is an expansion team. It looks like a Dallas VS Miami NBA finals. Of course Pheonix did come back to beat the LA Lakers after winning three consecutive elimination games so it is too early to write off Pheonix yet. I am not sure that Pheonix has enough depth to beat Dallas in 6 or 7 games though.

Post # 10,000 will be celebrating a Suns victory. At least the Suns looked like themselves for ONE game this series. That was impressive...Raja is the man...and just as impressive as Howard is for Dallas, Raja is just that for the Suns. The only problem is now Dirk is going to go nuts next game...gotta be able to withstand that. At least the Suns didn't just roll over and get blown out for the rest of the series like they did last year against SA.

don't forget about Jason Terry, dude couldn't hit the broad side of a barn tonite. We missed at least 14 more points from Dirk and at least 10 more from Terry. The only problem is now Dirk is going to go nuts next game...gotta be able to withstand that.
The Suns got offensive rebounds, hit damn near all of their shots, and got to EVERY loose ball. I could blame the officials early in the game but I won't. The Suns just got everything to go their way and the Mavs never looked in sync.
Hopefully, they bounce back on Thursday.[/code]

I was thinking of two in particular. Start of the game where I think Diaw hits the basket and the foul is called on Harris when he never even touched him. Then there was the Nash takedown on Dirk where he has him by the jersey and the 7-footer clumsily falls to the court. Dirk pissed me off though. The dude fell into his post up fadeaway jumper routine and couldn't stop. They didn't deserve it. Good win for the Suns.dbdynsty25 wrote:The Suns had more fouls called against them...23 to 22. Don't think that was the difference.
