Here is a response from EAnathan about the pass/run issue
*not a spoiler but helpful*
We are aware of the issue in Madden that allows a player on defense to read whether or not the offense is running or passing the ball in some situations. The good news is that this doesn't always work, and there are ways to prevent your opponent from using it against you.
A player cannot read run or pass if you are running plays out of any one-back formation or Weak-I formations. Examples of this are Singleback, Shotgun, etc... If you find somebody using this against you, start running plays from these formations to throw them off.
You can also use the all new formation audibles against somebody that is trying to read your play. If you notice that your opponent is stacking the line because he thinks you are running, formation audible to a pass play and quickly snap the ball to catch the defense out of position. By stacking the line, his defenders won't be in position to defend against the pass. Knowing that somebody may be using this against you will allow you to make adjustments to catch him off-guard.
Lastly, just knowing whether or not somebody is running or passing doesn't guarantee a positive play result for the defense. Every playbook has a wide variety of run and pass plays so it will be impossible for the defense to know where to defend. If you are calling a variety of run and pass plays it's still impossible to predict what you will actually be doing.
So while many people will view this as an advantage for the defense, it can easily be turned the other way by using all the feature available to you on offense.
after reading i think it's the real nathan but i have found multi nathan accounts on EA, this one 300+ posts the other i found was 200+ hope its legit, good help i guess anyways

Nice alibi by EA, giving us gamers everything but a patch or fixed version.
Note to EA: Excuses are like assholes -- everyone has them. Pathetic.
Take care,

Plus, it doesn't help at all when playing vs. the CPU. Sure, I can force myself to not use the coach's cam or look at the screen while calling coverage audibles in those situations (seems to be about half the time), but it makes me feel like I am playing defense with one hand tied behind my back.pk500 wrote:Nice alibi by EA, giving us gamers everything but a patch or fixed version.

I REALLY like the game so I am living with it with house rules (I'm not really interested in playing online until they fix it)...but what a pain in the ass.

I'm having serious misgivings about Madden 06 due to this glitch. I can't stand playing by house rules as Leebo aptly said make you feel like you're playing with one hand tied behind your back.
Sure, audibles are an option, but I don't want to have to audible all the time or limit my damn formations to avoid this glitch.
NCAA 06 might be my football game of choice this year even though I slighlty preferred Madden before this glitch. Good thing NCAA is a fun game, if not as deep or strategic as Madden.

maybe i'm lucky since i skimmed through reading about the glitch, so i don't even understand how to see the cheat, and i like it that way. online will not be much fun at all if i have to constantly audible or change formation. maybe in the pc version this might get patched, i not holdiong my breath but thats all EA ever does is fix pc's since its cheap and easy

They had online leagues last year but it was a half-assed effort with no player stats, just team stats.
Plus you have to register for the Premium Pass. While it was free, you had to give them a credit card number and if you didn't cancel before August this year, they were going to charge you $20. Per month.
My guess is that the Premium Pass and the online leagues they had had scant participation. Plus, they seemed to be in a rush to finish this game earlier than usual this year, possibly to get the staff over to next gen.
The first time you go online with this version, they give you the option of going with a free, ESPN-sponsored registration or some other thing, where they presumably would charge your credit card.
They did say last year when they intro'd the Premium Pass that basic online play would always be free. We'll see if they still sing that tune with the next gen. If they didn't get too many people signing up for free Premium Passes, maybe they get the message that they're not going to get too many people signing up to pay-to-play online. That would be on top of XBL and whatever online scheme Sony may come up with.

Has this run/pass "glitch" been in Madden for years? Some people at OS are saying so. I can't confirm it totally, but it appears to happen in some video I just looked up from Madden 2005. I don't want to give it away. Let me put it this way. I can't see enough in the videos to tell if the giveaway was always there for sure, but I can tell that the same concept does indeed happen at times.

I am this close to dumping Madden. Twice in one game...I take my safety to cut off the angle of a runner heading toward the sideline, and my guy gets sucked almost 5 yards to his left to a blocker...letting the runner (McGahee) go the distance. Gave up two runs of >70 yards in ONE GAME because of that suction bullsh*t. I don't remember it being that bad last year, was it? I also don't remember it being that bad in NCAA. Virtually every game I give up a big play because I like playing with the safety and I'm essentially the last line of defense...if I get sucked to a block, there is NO ONE available to stop the damn runner.
LOL. I once gave up 2 CONSECUTIVE 80 yard runs to Priest Holmes (I was OAK). 80 TD run, punt touchback, 80 yard TD run. I generally have very nice CPU rushing numbers, so I just viewed it as an anomoly.
I really haven't noticed the suction blocking on guys I am controlling, but it is really apparent with my computer controlled teammates on sweeps or pitches. Pouding the A button will help you get out of a block, but suction blocking is alive and well.
That said, I think Madden is absolutely fantastic offline...bugs, annoyances, and all. I can't stop playing it.

What's even worse is that when I have two or three steps on the blocker, and somehow he morphs right next to me, to give me a little shove as the ball carrier approaches...then I don't even have a chance to break the block as my guy stumbles past the runner. WTF...I've never been so pissed at a football game. That really is my only complaint about the game...but it's a HUGE one to me.
The suction blocking was no where as bad in last years game. That is really my biggest complaint about the game this year. I lost a game in the final seconds once because I had a clear run at a qb sack to end the game but I got pulled into the Off Lineman and the qb threw a td.
It sucks too because I've finally got use to the cone and have been really enjoying it. I won't give up on this game but everytime I play I feel like I want to rebuy madden2005.
