I was weary of the 16th hole in round one after reading this. I survived it by playing it safe. Could you have taken an unplayable lie and maybe come out better? Sometimes I swallow my pride and do that.
Pride...Hahaha. I played it safe the last 3 rounds and ended up with par in all 3 rounds.

I set up the next two weekend tourneys to match the PGA tournament, would like to continue that when a highly rated course is available to match the pros.

Awesome... we've got good versions of Kapalua Plantation and Waialae Country Club at our disposal for these - thanks Mark!

BTW Mark, what do you think about Leadfoot's inquiry... would it be better to start a new season on the first? I'm good either way, but I was trying to think in terms of what would make the most sense.

It was a great tournament from what I could tell in seventh place :) You guys played some great golf! I tried playing my last two rounds on my new XBox One X and 65" TCL Series 6 in the living room. I was using the controller that was packaged with the new XBox One X instead of my Elite controller.

The new stock XBox One controller was certainly less sensitive than the Elite controller and I found that I was able to regulate tempo better with it. I had to work to try to get a "fast" tempo. I was also able to track my swing path better with the lower sensitivity. The downside was my short game went to Hell in a handbasket. Chips, flops and putts were so much harder to regulate and I wound up giving away a lot of strokes around the greens. It more than offset the accuracy and tempo advantages I had with full shots.

I think if I play any TGC 2019 in my living room going forth, I'll bring my Elite controller from my rec room in and pair it up!

I’d say just continue until it says no more events can be scheduled and start a new season then.

Here’s a thought. Why not use your new stock Xbox One controller for driving & approach shots and use your Elite controller for chipping, flopping, and putting? :?:

It would be too much of a hassle, enabling and disabling controllers for someone as lazy as me. I know because I've already tried it and was already getting aggravated with it after 3 holes  :D

We had a great tournament at Celtic Manor yesterday. It wound up as a three way tie for first! I wound up knowing exactly what I had to do to win it, as I came to the 18th tied with Jozarus and Vader at -4, on a par 5 this is occasionally reachable in two with Master clubs. I didn't quite enough carry with my second shot as I didn't achieve my targeted "fast" backswing tempo. My second shot carried the water, but wound up 28 yards short of the pin, in the heavy rough just to the left of the bunker.

I then tried a play a lob shot with a sand wedge and came up just short of the green in the light rough, 8 yards short of the pin. My lob wedge chip shot for birdied rolled right up to the pin, but didn't make the one final quarter roll it needed to drop.

This was the first time I've played Celtic Manor in TG 2019 and overall, I found it to be a very good version of the course. It got better the further I got into the course. I'd played it a lot in several of the Tiger Woods PGA Tour series over the years, so I have a lot of familiarity with it. I'm amazed at the caliber of courses folks can turn out with the engine I use to produce something that looks like an eight year old would have been responsible for!

Liked the course very much and I'm hitting the ball straight. Problem is I can't make any putts anymore. I burn so many edges, or hit an edge and it spins out. I blew so many birdie putts in that round and some were easy straight up hill putts that I left short. Is there one putting camera people prefer, I'm just running with the standard one.

Anyway then I hit 17 I think, the last par 3 and did the dreaded very slow follow through and my ball did a banana slice and I went 4 or 5 over on that hole because I was caught behind trees in rough that was 50-60%

I'm not really sure why a very slow swing results in a banana slice, realistically I don't think that is the result one would get. When I try to replicate that on a trackman by taking a normal backswing and a really slow follow through it typically result in a very low, very short shot that does go right more times than not but not a high banana slice trajectory this game gives. Not a complaint just an observation.

I was also thinking last night that it would be great to have a replay option in local single player rounds. So when I miss that putt I can do like I do on weekends and grab the ball and try the putt again. Be much better practice then the putting green in game.

Excited to start the tour event today

For some reason I thought everyone in a society event played with the same conditions but I've played with three different ghost players over the last three days in the DSP society and the wind has been drastically different each time, they patched it in TGC2 where it worked and just assumed it was in 2019 but I guess not. :(

I did horrible in the event but enjoyed the course. Par 5's you could go after are nice, challenging layout a few driveable par 4's if the conditions are right.

All comes down to my putting, I've lost count of how many times I've hit a hole dead straight to watch the ball pop out of the hole. I really don't feel like I am jamming the putts, firm yes but killing them no. Then there is always the baffling dead straight putt that somehow move an inch out of the hole. If I putted like this in real life I would quit the game LOL.

Still would love to organize a live Alt-shot tournament. Just draw names, make a tournament bracket and play match play Alt-shot

Sorry I didn't respond to this earlier Dan, but I feel strongly about this. I find that the "Full" camera option provides the best look at the putting stroke. I think most people go with the default "Wide" option, which IMO, puts player too far away from their on-screen surrogate. Try that and see if it doesn't help you... it helps me to use the "Full" camera perspective on all shots, not just putting.

Yeah, it's quite the experience... and this is a very faithful rendition of Kapaluha! I opened yesterday's round with a double bogey on the first hole from 2 feet off the green in two :x That made me hunker down and play hard for the rest of the round. I still had to make a lot of 10 to 15 foot putts for par in the round though. I'm digging the swing tuning and ball physics changes of the last patch more and more now 8)

Holed out on hole 7 at Kapalua for an eagle...tied for the lead after 1 round. I’ll enjoy the brief time at the top of the leaderboard :D

Nicely done Leadfoot, I think the winner X. Shaffele IRL shot a similar -23 or so, looks like you did just fine on the final round where personally I just struggled to make any putts.

I played the final two rounds along with the ghost balls of Leadfoot, 10spo, and Vader. Leadfoot was a putting machine in the final round, from all ranges! I liked the course, but I just finally blew a cork in the final round... I had two eagles, two birdies, and still shot a 78 :x I 4-putted a par four I'd driven for a bogey and still had another 4-putt bogey on a par 5 I'd reached in two. Each 4-putt was followed by a a hot-collared, fast/very fast tempo off the next tee, resulting in OB in both cases and double bogies

Sometimes this game makes me play like a pissed-off John Daly, but I think that's one of the properties about it that makes it so endearing to me :?

Nothing setup for the week? John, Vader?

Come on, I am heading out of town tomorrow. 8)

Edit: Ok, I see it now. Boy, looks like a sand storm just happened at Loopspruit.

Loopspruit presents the widest variety of lighting and skyscapes of any course I've played. I went with Dogzilla's default settings for it for the tournament round. I don't know how he's got it set to yield such a variety of looks and moods in one round. If your round goes like mine, you'll think you're on a different course in a different continent by the 4th hole... then you'll be back to the ominous looking, burnt orange sky by the time you get to the 14th.

I really like the course and think it presents a reasonable challenge, but I've posted two of my best rounds in the last month on it. It's an interesting course, but I think it's novel look would lose its appeal with repeated play.

Man, I am struggling on my approach shots lately. Too many 3 putts too. Pretty frustrating.

Thanks man, like John mentioned, the putts were falling for me. :) Really enjoyed it!! These tournaments have been fun - with so many of us scoring well, any birdies missed really ratchet up the pressure especially when others haven't submitted their rounds yet.
