Sadly, I don't think the patch is going to address this sort of issue :( I went bogey, triple bogey for the two easiest holes on this course (Sheshan) after reaching them at -2! I got some funky drops on the triple, although I could have played them better. Neither were drops I would have chosen to make under the rules of golf.

I'd never thought of the fact that the Kinect might make the game appeal to younger kids. They aren't as caught up on the shortcomings of it not catching the nuances of a golf swing.

Best Buy will match this, too, if your local BB is closer than Target.

Yep, I'm going to go that route. I actually bought it last week from Best Buy for $60 but hadn't opened it. Gonna take it back and have them do just that.

I had a drop last night where the ball was literally at the head level of my golfer.

If this is improved drop mechanics then this dev team needs to redefine their definition of acceptable.

I'm a bit concerned over the lack of rumblings from the developers concerning the patch since last Friday. They haven't uttered a peep - about ANYTHING - since updating the official patch list with the estimated date (4/5/13),after being very communicative about it all last week. It's almost like a gag order has been put on them :? I expected to read news by the middle of this week, at the latest, that the patch had been submitted to Microsoft and Sony for certification. It really makes me wonder what's afoot as this is a radical change in behavior for the development team this year.

I'm still trying to get into the game in its current state, but it feels incomplete. I had a good first two rounds in our club's 4 rounder at TPC Louisiana last week, but could find enough enthusiasm to finish it out with the disengaging putting camera cuts, scoring/leaderboard problems, H2H match play that shows frozen players, and perma-information boxes that have to be worked around... (sigh). The core game deserves a better stage than it's getting and from the sound of it, the patch in its April 3rd state *should* correct that and turn this into the best game of the series.

Another gamer presented the case late last Friday for a new rather glaring problem that I don't think the devs were aware of. A user by the member name of "MEMOBETTA" proved that only the creator of a head to head online match gets the benefit of a "Pins Enabled" match. I don't use pins, nor will I create or join a match that uses them, but this is a big item for those who do. I've almost got the feeling that this last minute bomb sent the devs back into the war room, and they've been sequestered there since. It's a bit disturbing to see such a stark change in their behavoir and demeanor.

I've seen a drop at chest level. I felt like I was swinging a bat at a high change-up rather than a golf shot!?

My interest has dropped significantly until a patch is released. At this point the ball drops are going to be the thing that pushes me to stop playing. I honestly can't believe a dev said with a straight face they had worked on improving them. They are worse than last year by a wide margin. So maybe the did tweak the logic but they sure as hell didn't test it. Actually it appears they didn't test much of anything.

It's a shame a game that could of been really, really good is going to end up being mediocre because of bad testing,

Well, while I was posting my previous message, the Executive Producer (Sean Wilson) posted this in the official forum:

We are about to submit the patch to first party in the next day or so and than it will just be a matter of how long it takes to approve before it arrives. Usually these things take a couple weeks obut we'll see. I'm out of the office so my communication will be light this week. Accessing this forum on a mobile phone is too frustrating. However the patch is still coming so please don't take my lack of communication this week as a sign anything has changed.

So call in the dogs.... for now. 8)

I was messing around with the online portion of the game, and to my surprise I am part of a country club. Does the game automatically assign you to a country club when you access the mode?

I'm really enjoying the game still. Other than that first day freeze, no issues since. Only thing I experienced was some slow down on a few courses.

I really enjoy that this year they made the game for the pickup and play casual golf gamer as well as most of you hardcore sim guys.

Inuyasha, please feel free to join DSP CC; we'd love to have you. You can play in our Live Tournaments when it suits you. There's no participation requirement. We've only got 20 members so far, and there's room for 100. The more members we have on our list, the more qualified the club becomes for advanced competitions, even if not all of the members are active.

I do think that there would be more chance of added members and participation in the DSP CC if the thread was in the main forum here as opposed to the Online Leauge sub directory. There are only 5 total threads in that group and only 3 are currently active. Our main page is not that active that the Online League threads would clutter it up. If anything, it might make more visitors aware of its existence. I do understand that it does make it easier for those that are currently active not having to hunt down the thread within the main pages, but the main DSP forum is just not that active anyway. All that said, I will admit that I am just lazy and forget to pop over there, so it could just be me.

However, just as an example, I think Danimals idea for the virtual+real Masters Sunday challenge is really cool, but currently only 5 people are signed up. My guess is that with the $40 sale this week on TW14 and the Masters generating more from the casual golf fan, we have the potential to have more participation this week, despite the annoying bugs that plague the game. Either way its not a big deal, it would just be cool to have more participants so that I am not dead last in the competition. :)

PS - Thanks to Danimal and J_Cauthen for continuing to administer the DSP CC online competitions (too bad EA did not seem to add much to actually make that job easier).

Good points DC, I do hope that with the game sale more people get on board. While far from perfect it's sim mode is pretty darn good.

I think you've got a good point. I'll keep dropping reminders and links to the league thread from this one to see if that helps. Once everyone in the league knows the thread is there, that shouldn't be a problem after a while. I realize people are still buying the game, waiting on sales and patches, so no... our potential memberhip hasn't peaked yet.

I think the Masters being in the public eye this week will also raise awareness. I've got to be honest though, as much as I like the potential of this game, I have to force myself to play a round or two, here and there because of its current unpatched state. I'm trying to be as forgiving as I can, but there's only so much I can tolerate before I have to turn it off in total disenchantment. I'll stay away for a day, build a little more curiosity, come back and play a bit until I've had one too many bizarre camera cuts when trying to putt. I get tired of doing the replay thing, putt after putt, to get a sense of what my putt really looked and felt like... :( It's just not the same seeing it in replay as seeing it in real time... (sigh)

Honestly I disagree completely. The people who want to be active are active. It's really not rocket science there is a daily tournament every day and one weekly each week. I don't even look in the threads I just log into the game and go to the menu.

The reason there are separate threads is so this one could discuss the game, not CC events. The madden and NHL threads gets lots of use in that forum. Would you want all those messages in the main threads for those games?

Personally its not my forum and we can do whatever but I don't see how it helps participation.

If my wife hadn't picked this up for me out of the kindness of her heart I would have traded it in already, most likely. How this game was allowed to ship in this state is baffling to me. To call it a train wreck would be giving it too much credit.

It truly is short of what it could be. Are you going to give it another chance after the patch? I think it's got a shot if they truly fix everything on the patch list.

Sorry, I did not mean for it to sound like the DSP CC stuff should be combined into the same thread as the normal TW14 discussion. I agree that would not make any sense at all. I was actually just talking about that thread being in the main DSP forum as opposed to the DSP Online Leagues. I did not even realize that the DSP Online Leagues sub directory existed until JC posted the link to it to sign up for the DSP CC. It sounds like that is just me being lazy. Like I said, no big deal either way.

Ah sorry didn't get that.

Yes I imagine most regulars just have this forum bookmarked. Since I play in the online leagues and laso the baseball league I bookmark the main forum page.

I don't have the pwoer to move that thread, Jared would have to move it out of there if people wanted.
