Gamestop can still suck it). Glad I did. Played a couple games online last night vs. Sport and two solid games. Then started my franchise with the Pats today and am 1-1. Got blown out by Miami 37-3 in game one (Brady had four picks, two inside my own 30). Beat San Diego in game two, 20-17 in a beauty. Scored with 1:04 left in the game. After the kick off Rivers hit a long pass to get into my territory. Then on 4th and 10 it looked liked they were going to be in FG territory after a sideline completion but the WR's foot clearly didn't get down on replay and the play was reversed for the change of possession.

Now here's the ultimate reason for the post. I suck on defense. I'm playing on All-Pro defaults because I want the challenge. But I can't seem to stop anyone's passing game. I'm using GameFlow because I don't know enough about football to call my own plays. Is that hurting my defense? Even in the SD game they racked up 390 yards of offense so it wasn't like I shut them down. Any help for a Madden returnee is appreciated.
There's a conservative / aggressive selection in the GameFlow. I switch to conservative when I'm getting beat up. They only real adjustment I make is to bump up or back off the DBs.

Though I'm finding the CPU pretty easy.

Yeah, I usually switch between the three options in GameFlow depending on down/distance/etc. Just wasn't sure if using that was detrimental. It's probably just playing more. Two games is a poor sample size i realize.

What position do you typically choose to play on defense?

One thing I noticed this year is if you turnover the ball, the dynamic thing really kicks in and the cpu offense after the turnover will most likely score on you the majority of time. Also, scrambling qb's will kill you this year if you don't call the right D or use a LB as a spy.

Rally - Defense is a challenge this year because of the dynamic player thing. Best advice is just play more games and you'll get better with time. But this year talent really matters and so do team ratings. So if you're still doing Play Now, play against a weak team like the Bills.

I play all positions except as DB. Maybe a Safety if it's a 4th quarter and it's a passing play. Or if I'm getting killed.

Here's what I did last night, I traded a 2nd RD pick and Grossman for Tebow (I'm Wash to Den.) I played the Giants first game up. If you rattle Eli early he's toast and that's what Wash did. ( I also picked up 2 FAs to beef up the O-line.

So here's what I don't know if the game is easy or I just play extra conservative. In the 1st quarter, he throw a pick in a place where a good QB could make the throw. It was a simple 5 yard hook too.

Then I said, I'm going to play as a coach would tell Tebow. Short routes, 3 step drops, and 1 or 2 reads then take off. Tebow was like 17-27 for 157 or something. It was awesome to play that kind of football. It didn't hurt that Torain and Hightower could run. My TE and FB had the most catches.

Now I guess here's where Madden is unrealistic. A defensive coordinator would have allowed Tebow to try it deep and short down short routes or start to blitz.

I won 27-10. Running felt too easy. Tweaks need to be made but I don't feel like messing with it.

Well after throwing 4 tds last game w brees, I threw 6 ints in my game vs the Titans! LOL!

They even had Johnson hurt and they still whipped me. I lost by 10 but really it wasn't even that close. My D got me a fumble TD but other than that, I had nothing going on offense.

Week 5, I traded Mark Clayton to the Bills for a 2nd string CB who could be good in a few years - I then released my worst CB and signed TO to a 1 yr/$850 deal.

We went into Lambeau field and upset the Super Bowl Champs, 31-17!

Rogers had 4 INT's and up until this game, I only had 1 INT. I have a stud DT who got 4 sacks and I was blitzing Rogers all game. We were down 17-14 at the half after I missed a short FG right before the half and in the second half I decided to put the game on Jackson's shoulders. Bradford had 2 TD's and only 1 INT and Jackson ran for 166 yards and added a receiving TD.

When the Packers scored, Jennings did the Lambeau leap.. kind of cool to see and the crowd kept yelling, "GO PACK GO". First time I got to see dymanic lighting - the game is really beautiful, especially the blimp shots of the whole stadium between quarters.

It was cool to see former Packer Al Harris have a spectacular game with 2 INT's, one returned for a TD and he was the player of the game.

Philly is the only undefeated team at 6-0 and the Browns and Panthers both sit at 0-6.

We play the 1-4 Dallas Cowboys next.

Oh.. the CPU missed a FG, first time I've seen that happen in a franchise game.

That's cool, but I probably won't be using it since all I do now is lose after such a great start.

I can't stop star RBs. The Vikes blew me out and AP had 226 yards on me 3 TDs.

I really hate how EA's interfaces and documentation reduce some features to trial and error. Case in point: scouting. After playing my week 1 game, before continuing to week 2, a dialog popped up saying I could scout players and asking if I wanted the CPU to do it. I said no and finished simming the week, not realizing if you don't scout in week 1, you can't do it again until week 5. Such an idiotic way of doing things.

I joined the league as the Chiefs. Not wedded to the team, just thought it would be fun to run with Charles, so I can switch if we decide to group into specific conferences or divisions.

Sorry to spam this thread with Online Franchise stuff I just know it's the only place people are reading. Here is an update on the steps to get in because a few people are still not in yet.

1. You'll need to hit the league manager site and make an account

2. You'll need to hit this link and join http://myleaguemanager.net/apps/acceptI ... &lname=DSP

3. You'll need to find the DSP league in Madden and join as well.

Password for both was sent via PM

Then we wait as the LM features are planned to roll out by end of the week and so is the OF roster update. On the LM site please don't sign any free agents if you see the option to until we start.

Right now including me we sit at 8 guys we would love to have some more. Once the we start I'll move all discussion to the DSP Madden league forum Jared has sent because it seems like no one wants to use the LM forums we get for the league. Correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks
Dan

Well as the Redskins I'm 3-0.

Beat Arizona 10-7 in the rain at FedEx.

Then went to Dallas and beat them 33-17. I had two defensive fumble returns. Which put it 14-0 in the 1st quarter. Then as Romo was driving in the 2nd, Landry picked him off. Tebow went 11-17 for 157. Torain picked up 50 before he broke his ribs. Hightower and Helu ran for another 125.

I'm last in the NFL in Passing Yards and Passing defense. First in rushing. Haha.

Injuries happen way too frequently. I am seeing 1-2 per game on default. Vick made it thru 1 quarter in week 1 before going down with an injury. McCoy was hurt in the 2nd half of the same game lol.

I think injuries are spot on so far, 5 games into my franchise.

There is a bug where for certain teams it always rains when you play them at their stadium - hope they fix it. Playing against GB it was nice and sunny.

Thought I'd share a simple slider adjustment that has me enjoying the game more.

I was having a hard time finding a good slider set and tried a few at OS, but they didn't suit my style (too easy where I was lighting up the computer) or too hard (where I got sacked 9 times in a game, and couldn't run the ball)

Went to default all-pro with upping the CPU sliders to 67. Still not a challenge, and the CPU seemed to be predictable.

All-Madden I wouldn't touch in the past because the CPU would cheat, but it seems different this year.

I am now going with default All-Madden but with the CPU Sliders moved down to 25.

In my first game CHI (me) at DET, I won 17-13. The CPU seemed to adjust to my tendencies and shut down plays I would run more than twice.

I actually read about this at OS also and it sounds like quite a few people are having success with these sliders. I'm also stuck needing a level somewhere between All Pro and All Madden, and these settings sound like a simple way to adjust the game to my level. I know the idea behind these is that you shouldn't change the Player sliders, since as soon as you do it changes the difficulty to Custom. With default All Pro being 50 for Player and 50 for CPU, and default All Madden being 25 for Player and 50 for CPU, it makes sense to just drop the CPU sliders to 25 to match the Player sliders. Like you, I had tried starting from All Pro and increasing the CPU sliders, but it doesn't change the kick meter speed, which is one thing I find much better on All Madden level. I'll try a few games with these the next couple of days and report my findings. I'm glad to know they are working for you.

Here I was thinking I was getting the hang of this game, and then I lose at home to the Panthers 37-7 after getting sacked 11 times and throwing 7 picks. Apparently cold and hot streaks do have an effect on the game.

I thought it finally clicked for me also after a 48-0 win over Atlanta but my last preseason game against the Panthers was tied 3-3 with 3 minutes to go in the 3rd quarter and they ended up scoring 3 touchdowns after that for a 24-3 win. Was one of the most laskluster games ever with the backups playing the entire game, I could not get my running game going and at the same time I could not stop Mike Goodson of the Panthers as he had over 100 yards rushings and over 60 receiving.

Didn't want to sim to get through the game and have the cpu possible lose a valuable player for me, but I ended up losing 2 wide receivers with injuries for 4 weeks anyhow. Finished the preseason 1-3 and now on to the season opener at Baltimore.

I got shelled by the Pack in the NFC championship game 47-7. The DPP really works in this game, made a couple of bad decision with Cutler and he turned into a ball of Goo. The Packs defense got inspired and I couldn't do anything. I had beat them 3 weeks earlier on the road to even get in the playoffs, it was a virtual flip of last years real life situation except I didn't go on to win the Superbowl.

I don't really buy into the AM, reduce sliders. The way I understand it, once you start moving sliders you're no longer on a difficulty level.
