Yeah...I didn't mean they couldn't take the division, but by "playoff pack", I was thinking of the perennial contenders and solid organizations that always get it right. Pittsburgh, Baltimore, New England, Indianapolis, etc.
Teams that are always in the playoff mix and know how to win the tough games that matter. Oakland will still need to learn that, but this is turning out to be a very impressive season for this team.
I wonder if Brad Childress will keep his job after throwing all his eggs in the Favre basket? At least we have seen the last of Bret Favre. He's showing his age and the team has been worse off this year with him. They need to start Jackson and let the guy show what he can do.
Belichick looks like a genius getting that 3rd round pick. Patriots might end up with Moss again (doubtful considering they are last in claiming him on waivers).
Crazy day.

They've done everything right in rebuilding that roster and culture so far. Moss would have been way too toxic for a young team just starting to come around.
SEA injuries woes gets more hairy as C. Whitehurst makes his debut today against the Giants. His debut comes at the expense of Hasselbeck who suffered a concussion last weekend. He lit it up during pre-season and has a stronger arm than Matt, but a depleted Hawks team is no match for Manning and CO. Good luck 'Chaz'. NYG intimidating pass-rush KOed just five QBs in its last seven games.
Take away the Cowboys and I think you'd really struggle to find a more under-achieving team this year than the Vikings. 2-5, and they're down by 14 to the lowly Cards, at home in the 4th quarter. It's times like this I am glad I am NOT a fan of this team, because they do nothing but let the fans down. Wylf is a spineless jellyfish for not canning Chilly after the Moss incident. It's almost sad to watch this team. Arizona is running thru the Vikings like fear thru the French army.
PS: Is it possible that Asher Allen is THE worst cornerback in Nfl history? I can't imagine anyone being worse than him. Guy SUCKS!!!

Come on Doby, that touch to Manning's helmet was a major hazard to his health.
Raiders haven't won more than 5 games in a season since 2002. But they found a way to win a game today that they should have lost. They committed another 15 or 17 penalties (I lost count)--some were valid, others were typical "Raider calls". Calls that I see other teams get away with every day, but the Raiders get called repeatedly on them because they're notorious for being penalized.
This team is different. They didn't hang their heads, didn't whine non-stop about them. They just went out and took the next snap over and over.
After starting the game without their #1 receiver (Louis Murphy), tight end (Zach Miller), and cornerback (Nnamdi Asomugha), then losing their #1 middle linebacker (Rolando McClain, who also calls the defensive signals) and strong safety (Tyvon Branch, their leading tackler) to a concussion in the game, to find a way to win that game was amazing.
It's another step in this team's progress. They lost a game they should have won in Arizona, and now found a way to win a game they should have lost here, and they completely muddled the AFC West division race.
What nobody is talking about is their run defense the past month. The Niners hit them hard 4 weeks ago (a game they completely failed to show up in after their win over the Chargers), but 4 out of 5 games they've completely manhandled the opposition's running game. I really thought holding KC to 150 or so would be a solid game, considering they went over 200 in 3 straight games. But KC barely cracked 100 in the overtime period. It was a solid day for the run D, and considering Nnamdi was out, a good day for the pass D as well.
This is a new team in Oakland. Every week somebody else steps up. This week it was the rookie Jacoby Ford, who had something like 150 yards receiving, but almost all of the big plays to keep the Raiders in the game.
Trailing 10-0, he takes the opening kickoff of the second half back for a score.
Trailing 20-17, he catches a crucial 3rd down conversion in heavy traffic to set up Janikowski's tying FG with a couple seconds left.
In OT, he hauls in the 50-yarder to set up the game winner.
Huge game for a guy that should vault him into a big role in the future.

The league might as well say defenders are disposable and QBs are untouchable.

I was a little disappointed the Rams didn't sign Moss, but it really sounds like the Rams ownership was convinced he was not worth the risk.
You're not sending a good message to your team signing this "me" player.
Obviously the penalty called in the Colts/Eagles game was not the intent of the rule. Nonetheless, that is the rule. That particular instance might have been ticky tack but when the rule was created that was not the type of hit they were hoping to avoid. Is it unfortunate that something so small gets a personal foul? Sure, it is but there's no way to make it a judgement call or at least there's no way they should make it a judgement call. I can live with the occasional penalties like that.
