I bought the Burns soundtrack as well. Check out this link too... it's got a bunch of mp3's of old baseball and specific team songs:
http://www.thedeadballera.com/AudioVault_Songs.html
I found it looking for a "Meet The Mets" mp3.
Anyone else wowed by how good the helmets look this year? Something about the finish on them... they look crazy real to me in the light.
Speaking of, I'm playing a 29-game season with a fantasy-drafted Pirates, and while I can't quite place the exact era of their throwbacks, those are some sweet outfits. You've got the yellow hat with black horizontal stripes:

And then the yellow batting helmets, which I'm cuckoo for:

I like so much about the Pirates. Why can't they get it together?

slumberland: why didn't you PM me. I would have sent you the Ken Burns file/album
thank you for the link. I believe the Pirates did have the hats in the early 80's. As i remember Kent Tekulve, having one. It is kewl you're part of an organization, which you like. I have a similar fondness for the Royals. Lot of similarities
btw, have a friend who is the uncle of Tony Sanchez. A top prospect (catcher) with the team. He is actually a sports agent, and negotiated Tony's contract. Good peoples

I thought about it, but I had it up on iTunes and was perfectly happy to throw the makers some cash. It's probably not a top seller.vinny-b wrote:slumberland: why didn't you PM me. I would have sent you the Ken Burns file/album
Actually a die-hard Mets fan, but the Pirates have always sort of been my B-team... like the city, saw a game there in the late 80's and they put on the best fireworks show I ever saw afterwards.

Funny how some pitchers just feel so right to pitch with, while others are a nightmare. Andy Pettite feels so free and easy, with good control that gives you the confidence to get creative, even though he can't blow people away. Oliver Perez is on the other end of the scale for me... can't stand that slow-ass motion, out of control, awful. Never know what I can get away with. if I ever start a real Mets franchise in '10 he's getting traded immediately. With the wonky trade logic I'll probably get something okay for him, too.

I might have misread it, but last night while playing against them in the show I could swear it had them rated 30th. Maybe that was just in one category, I can't remember now. On a side note I really like their stadium. It just feels right to me.dbdynsty25 wrote:Where did you get that from? They are far from the worst team in baseball. Probably top 10.fletcher21 wrote:Are the Tigers really the worst team in baseball? What happened to them?!

I don't know, but I'm liking it! They're 10-22, last place in my season. I just swept them in a three-game series. Ordonez was slumping and Cabrera's got NOBODY hitting behind him, I think I IBB'ed him five or six times in the series.fletcher21 wrote:Are the Tigers really the worst team in baseball? Are you on with the game now? Can you quick check and see what they are rated as on the game? I am curious now if I misread it. I swept them easily, too. Poor Tigers lol.lexbur wrote:I don't know, but I'm liking it! They're 10-22, last place in my season. I just swept them in a three-game series. No, I'm at work. I'm almost positive they're not rated 30th though, they might be around upper teens or 20th. Their bars had something there, unlike my 29th-ranked Tribe, hardly any bars at all.fletcher21 wrote:

Maybe it was 30th in pitching or hitting or something. I'll check tonight. I think I figured out my freezing issues. Somehow it messes the game up to play at a 3rd party park and then try to save it. I tried it again after 1 inning and bam, it froze after the top of the 2nd. I am good now. If this game wasn't so good I'd have given up on it, but I am just having too much fun with it. I like how guys go hot and cold, and you really can notice it. Ortiz and Youkilis both started off incredibly cold, but now they're both hot and it's very apparent by how well they make contact now. Loving this game. If only we had a hockey and football version of The Show!

lol. I like the EA Nhl series, but the super goalies just kill it for me. When I score a goal in Nhl I feel like I didn't really score but that the code just allowed it to go in. When I hit a HR in The Show, I feel like I really earned it.Rodster wrote:EA Sports NHL series is just as good as The Show and since I refer to Soccer as Football then yes there are two games as good as The Show.fletcher21 wrote:If only we had a hockey and football version of The Show!
That pretty much holds true with any video sports game. You're new to The Show but once you get a feel for the hitting you'll probably have to up the difficulty.fletcher21 wrote: lol. My wife hates those old Bucco's hats, but I like 'em. I had both versions as a kid, the yellow with black stripes and the black with yellow stripes. They were based on the hat's worn at the turn of the century. My favorite hat is the mustard yellow with the black brim, I still wear that one.
I love my Pirates, but it's been a long LONG time... I'm almost glad my son likes the Phillies! Still, the Bucs have won the world series twice in my lifetime.

I almost threw my controller last night when playing this game. I had a perfect game going with Jonathan Sanchez against the Mets through five innings. I was up 5-0 heading to the bottom of the sixth when Luis Castillo leads off with a bunt up the first base line to get the first hit of the game. the announcers were going nuts about it.
I love the little details like the bats on Mother's Day or when they mention Edgar Renteria won a WS title for the Marlins when I am playing at Florida. Pretty cool!!!!
My question is to myself...Do I finish a 162 game season? I think it is possible!
