Looks like it's just this one new course causing the problem. I see it has been played only twice. All the other courses smooth.

update - played some older holes no choppyness. But the new official holes they put out there the game has framerate issues. Looking for others to confirm. PS4 here.
It feels much smoother to me after the update. Did you turn Depth of Field off in the display menu? That helps at least a couple of frames per second in a lot of places. I'm using camera view #3 for everything and it feels smoother than anything before it. I played TGC Player's Clube at Shawnee Creek, Flathead County Golf Club, and Ascension Bay (Definitive EDN) and they all played smooth.

Was it Black Brook? It got released prematurely for the PC a couple of weeks ago and a lot of problems were reported with it then.

ya it was that one.

Game is much smoother than release. it actually even looks better. I haven't played in a while so it could just be me seeing things.

How do you change the camera angles? or they just added some more?

digging the game. Nice break from football, soccer, hockey.

Go into the Settings menu on the main page, then to the Display menu. There you'll see options to change your main swing camera, putting camera, and approach camera. I use 3/2/4, respectively. With "2" selected for putting camera, you'll get a reverse angle view from the other side of the hole, looking back toward your golfer with a press of the B button on the XB1. It helps a lot with assessing breaks.

In the same menu (and I think it's the top option) turn the "Follow Camera" OFF. This will give you what I call the golfer perspective camera view for as long as you want to hold it after the shot. You can then hit the A button at your discretion and it will engage the Follow camera, which allows you to see the finish of your shot. I usually engage it about 75 to 85% into the ball's travel. They've done a splendid job with making this work so seemlessly.

At the bottom of the Display menu, find the Depth of Field option and turn it off... you won't believe the positive effect that has, especially on the XB1 version, in terms of appearance... the graphics are so much sharper and it actually gives you a minor frame rate bump. I don't think I've ever been more pleased with a patch or an update in my gaming career! 8O

Now that actual golf season is ending I'm going to purchase this. Just not sure if I should get the PC or PS4 version. Is there an active community on one over the other?

FYI - the Black Brook course has been fixed according to HB studios. So it should play much better.

I love the update and new cameras as well. Time to get a tour going!

Note regarding Depth of Field in both the XB1 and PS4 versions: There is a bug in the menu for the DOF setting. It will change itself to "ON", after a round or a restart, even though it shows that it's still OFF in the menu. You have to click on "OFF" again, to actually turn it off. This might be why some of you are not seeing the benefit of it being OFF, it's showing that it's OFF, but it isn't really off.

I'm hoping HBS can apply a hot fix to repair this. Meanwhile, just remember to turn it off via the in-game settings menu every time you start a new round.

Depth of Field give the visuals that look you would see from a camera lens would be my guess. I would assume turning it off would increase frame rate as in order to achieve it in a sports game you need to do some blurring on the edges etc.

Not having the game though so I'm guessing.

Still hoping someone (JC) can give me input on which community is the most active.

I'd easily give the nod to the PS4 community right now, as far as activity. I'd say my time is going to be like 70% PS4, 20% XB1, and 10% PC.

This is my jack-leg definition of DOF; It's a blurring of objects proportional to their distance from the vantage point (camera). I see the artistic merit of it in photographs and cinema, but in the case of most computer and video games, it makes them look more blurry than they should, IMO. Why it helps performance to have it off is something I can't explain. I guess it's because the program is having to calculate how much to blur each pixel, or region of pixels in real time? Again, this is my speculation... nothing more on why it's faster with it off.

You f*ckers are nudging me toward a purchase of this game on the Xbox One. I've always enjoyed golf games, and the create-a-course feature, community shared courses and attention to improvement by the developer are stirring my interest in this title.

Really enjoying the improvements to the cameras. Currently I am playing on 3-3-4. Putting on camera 2 while is nice to see the back angle of the shot, on longer putts the fact that your actual head/body blocks the aiming of your putt made me go with camera 3, as I can see the break from the bird view and your body doesn't quite block your view. I think camera 4 is pretty good too for putting purposes.

But yeah, seeing your shot sail as you T-off with camera follow off is almost like being there. Love it. There's a small transition delay as you press X but overall I love it.

Haven't touched the game in awhile until this latest patch, I will definitely get back to it daily.

Can't say it enough...the new cams are superb.

Oh, and Wilk, I am using the #3 cam to putt with. I go to the high up cam (#4 I think) on long putts. Gives a great view of the break.

The ability to zoom after the shot...whenever you want...is so sweet. Like JC said, it's like a new game.

I've also been using Siri on my iPhone for some quick calculations. If I'm between clubs I just ask her "what is 85% of 245?" She then spits back what the yardage would be. Yeah I'm lazy :)

Flathead County GC is a treasure... easy, but has its challenges. I can't get over how naturally rustic the vegetation is in this Boreal theme. It's clear that HBS are getting more and more at ease with Unity and how to apply it to this game!

I played Black Brook Golf Club tonight on the XB1 and they have fixed whatever was crippling it. It's an easy course, even easier than Flathead, but it's worth a go.

Wait for Tiger or Masters or whatever they're calling it this year if you are not sure. The game is good but I think maybe a bit too hard for casual golfers (like myself). But if you're more into hardcore get this one, it's a great deal.

PK, they've already had one 20% off XBL sale for The Golf Club, I imagine there will be another soon if you're not sure. I know one thing though; I couldn't have recommended the XBox One version of this game to ANYONE, prior to this latest update, but now, if you're a golf gamer who appreciates the simulation aspects of the game, this one has enough in place right now to hold your interest, while the developers continue to push toward excellence! They're not done yet and it's clear they're on the right track.... the XB1 version *should* be presented in 900p by the end of this year and it will look like a different game when it is 8)

Either this is the greatest patch in sports gaming history, or The Golf Club is one of the most underrated, unfairly shredded sports games in recent memory. This game is fantastic.

Everything about The Golf Club feels right. Intuitive controls, no annoying swing meters. Everything is based on flow, feel and rhythm. Gorgeous courses with a variety of challenge, fantastic ball and wind physics, realistic plays from various lies, etc.

It's quite a compliment to a game when my only complaint is lack of stat tracking, such as greens in regulation, putts, etc.

What a fantastic title. I used free MS credits to buy this game, but 90 holes of play already have shown me The Golf Club is worth every penny of $35. This is the most enjoyable, realistic console golf title I've played since Links 2003 for the original Xbox.
