Rodster wrote:It's just the opposite for me. I find in RTTS mode I can get in a game in 15-20 minutes max and that's as a pitcher. Another position might take a wee bit longer but I can promise you an RTTS game plays out shorter and faster than any other game in The Show.
you have it right. Fletch have it backward

after you ititially create your player, RTTS plays multiple games, fast. Whether a position player/or starting pitcher, you move by a season fast.

additionally, the title now permits the player to have all flexibility (via settings). It is up to the player, to determine how much of a game he wishes to observe/take part in, when he's not batting

As a catcher in my RTTS mode, I am averaging about 20-25 minutes a game. Don't forget that you can sim your games ahead as well.

yes. Would expect catcher to be time consuming, depending on the settings you selected

the manager let me have my first start in CF. Bad day at the plate, 1-4. The stadium was somewhere in the projects. Believe i heard a gunshot

lol, Rodster

at this time, trying to recollect where my game went. In 08 i was very patient at the plate. However after the check-swing button failed me in my first 3 at-bats (pinch hitting appearances) i am now swinging at pitches out of the strikezone.

in fairness, it looks like the skill level of pitchers in AA is bumped up (on All-Star). In my limited play time, AA pitchers are throwing 3 different pitches effectively. In 08, it seemed like you would see at least 1 or 2 fastball in your zone, every at bat...

Vinny. I don't do the RTTS thing, but I've read several people online complaining that several minor league pitchers are actually harder to hit than a lot of the Mlb guys. I've heard of minor league pitchers who are "on" with 3 or 4 pitches. That's nuts since most Mlb guys have only 2 or maybe 3 "on" pitches. Read several guys say it gets easier to hit once you hit the big leagues lol.

dbdynsty25 wrote: You started your franchise w/ default settings then...and haven't manually saved them "inside" of the franchise, if you know what I mean.

Basically, go into your franchise, start a game, edit your settings, finish the game, stay in the franchise screens and save your profile. If you don't start your franchise with the settings you want, you have to do the manual save one time. Get it?

And yes, it's ridiculous that they don't just save with the franchise if you make an adjustment. I think I explained it wrong in my previous post.
I figured it out. I had adjusted the Global settings and didn't realize that I also had to hit R1 to make changes to my Profile settings. I can see why they would allow two sets of settings but it's very non-intuitive the way they set it up.

I love how well this game plays out of the box. I've drawn at least two walks per game with default All-Star settings. I managed to draw five in a game last night, including three with Aramis Ramirez alone. The extra base hits are also much improved. In the same game, I went 5-for-6 with Derrek Lee, including three doubles.

The funny thing is, I used to play with guess pitch on, but since turning it off, I think I've become a better hitter. I found it had to resist swinging if I guessed correctly, even on pitches clearly out of the zone. Turning it off seems to have helped my patience at the plate.

Never saw this before but tonight I hit a 2 run shot with Soto of the Cubs...the problem was it was definitely foul! So is that just a mistake by the umps or what? Pretty cool...I think! :lol:

nope...ball was foul as clear as day and both the 3rd base and home plate umpire signaled it as fair.

I'm f*cking done with this buggy game for a while. I was playing a game and was up 5-2 after 7 innings. It was time to eat so I did a save and quit. I come back and go 1-2-3 in the top of the 8th, and as the screen shows the inning is over the damn game freezes. No big deal, I'll just do the 1/2 inning again. 4 TIMES later it freezes at that same spot every f*cking time! This happened to me three other times before, but those were all in the first 4 innings. The only thing I can think of is the fact I was playing my Red Sox season at a 3rd party park (not Boston or wherever the opponent is from) What the hell. The bugs are killing this otherwise stellar game for me. Ugh

What a great idea. I hated the soundtrack after a week or so, and then when you turn those off I get to hear Michael f-ing Kay call the Castillo drop in last year's subway series over and over again. Shoot me.

EXCHANGE YOUR F'N GAME FLETCH. No one else is having the constant freezes like you are. What does that tell you? Game or PS3...the game's the easiest to swap out. Do it and stop b*tching.

I've actually had a handful of freezes also with it, both on an old 40gb ps3 and a new 120gb one. There is certainly some flukey stuff going on. I haven't had them as consistently as Fletch, but I have had them. Often at the title screen, and a few times when I got to quit the game it resets my whole ps3.

Don't rule out a corrupted game save. ;)

Yeah, I'd guess it probably is the result of a corrupt game save too.

Exactly delete the game save and patch.

If it still doesn't work try a new copy, but at that point I would be inclined to think it is your PS3. You quickly rule out it is the ps3, but as someone who has replaced two of these units I can tell you they do break down.

"In MLB 09 The Show, we gave you the ability to add your own music and attach that music to specific players for things like batter walk-ups, home runs, and relief pitcher entrances. In MLB 10 The Show, we have added an Edit Teams option, so you can add music to your favorite team and hear it in various game situations. So, say if you're nostalgic for your favorite Cubs announcer from your childhood singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” in the middle of the 7th, you can add it directly to the game and remember the good ole days.... sniff, sniff.
In Set Team Audio, you can add your own music to a variety of events such as:

* Home Run Music
* Strike Out Music
* Drawing a Walk
* Stolen Base
* Away Team Error
* Team Wins (Generic, Pennant, Division, and World Series)
* Team Loses
* Clutch Out Recorded
* Relief Pitcher Entrance
* In between Innings Music"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

expect everyone already knew this (I didn't)

working on compiling a playlist. My RTTS player's initial season in the minors is to be set in 1986. Planning to keep music tracks specific for each era. May implement 1 or 2 1970's tracks, however. I wonder if Captain Jack (Billy Joel) would be acceptable as 'in between innings music' for a day at the ballpark?

I finally got around to replacing all the menu tracks with my own a month ago in '09. I haven't messed with the in-game sounds yet.

Some of the music I used:
Boys of Summer - Don Henley
Summertime - Kenny Chesney
Nothin' But A Good Time - Poison
All Summer Long - Kid Rock
-Matt
