OK, just finished a game that I started while my kids were napping.
Orioles at Yankees. It goes 23 innings, final score O's 2, Yanks 1. No home runs, no robbed home runs, no wild pitches. Starting pitchers were Wright for the O's, Irvin for the Yankees.
Both teams ended up with 18 hits, Yanks had 9 K's while the O's had 13. Crazy intense game, a complete pitchers duel, and played just like a real game with no wierd stuff happening.
Now I'm mentally drained... but my kids are hungry so I'm off to start dinner. Just wanted to let you guys know that this game can sim a great game of ball now and then!
Lack of doubles? Come on Jack. Play the full retail version before you completely take everyone's word. I played a nine inning game last night, and there were 4 doubles in the game. Is that too few? If it is, this game is broken afterall.
How many homerun saving catches did you see in three innings? Was it three? That I agree is too much, but then again I haven't seen one in the three full games I have played. Now, I have seen at least one diving catch a game from the CPU.

Nice. What I love about the late innings is when there's an intense game situation, the cursor moves like crazy and the controller vibrates. You can just feel intensity and nervousness in trying to locate pitches. I walked a couple batters with my middel relief guys.

Let me just clarify that I didn't claim that there is an a overall lack of doubles, just that there are instances where what 'should' be doubles based on where the ball landed, position of the fielders, etc, become singles in the game.

If you were a Cubs fan you wouldn't notice that as an issue.
I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

I'll agree with that. There's been an instance of that in each game I've played. However, I've watched real games where I've scratched my head thinking why the player didn't try to take another base. I haven't toyed with the baserunning aggressivness. I assume there is a slider for that?
This game is far from perfect, but there's not one single issue that's killing the enjoyment for me. Perhaps something will arise over the course of the season, but so far my exhibition games have been close to realistic.
Would I love for The Show to be on the 360? Heck yeah. Actually, it might be a better baseball game, but I just can't fork out the cash for it when I don't have any problems with 2K7.
Doubles definitely take into account the runners speed. When I have Brian McCann try to stretch a double to a single, even if it is the corner, I have to take in to account both my speed and the outfielder throwing. If you've got Juan Pierre or Kenny Lofton, run all you want. If you've got Vlad out there, you better put on the breaks. I think they did a great job modeling that aspect. If you guys think you should make it into 2nd when the ball goes to the wall everytime, you need to watch a few real games to see it happen in real life. Hell, McCann did it almost daily last year, lol.
I'm just echoeing what I'm reading on the OS Boards.....there are many threads and posts complaining about all the robbed HR's. After the game being out just one day, that's a little weird. But I will have my own FULL copy in a few days and judge it for myself after some extensive playtesting.

I haven't seen any hr's robbed in my experience so far. In some ballparks, it's hard for me to rob hr's bec of the camera.
I played the demo again last night and had runners on first and third with no one out and the cpu intentionally walked me to load the bases with the bottom part of the batting order coming up and I end up hitting a grounder to short and they get a force out at home and then I hit into a double play to end the inning.
I really like what I've seen in the demo and the franchise bugs won't bother me as I'll be happy to just play season mode.
My game is scheduled for delivery tomorrow, can't wait. And if anyone starts an online season I'd be interested in playing as the Pirates.

Of course not. But I shouldn't be throwing one or two guys out at second almost each and every three inning demo I play, not to mention the previously mentioned doubling guys off of first with a liner to the RF.
I think the game is fantastic....I definitely need to mess with the sliders though. I'm going to start a season with the Royals here later tonight though and i'm looking forward to it...
I can't stress enough that you guys should be messing with sliders. Everyone plays diferently, so different things will need to be adjusted.
Now that I've played with mine, the amount of HR's has dropped, the over the wall catches have stopped being to frequent, and there is more variety in the hits. I try to pick exhibition teams that are similar in skills and adjust while I play.
I turned outfield and infield speed to 0 for AI and user. I turned baserunning up to 100 for both as well. I played a game (lost 4-3 in 10). It sounds extreme, but based on what others have done, that might be the way to go - and it seemed fine to me. I don't think the sliders do all that much, so the effect is subtle. I imagine it will also result in less robbed HRs - not that I have seen any.
I also turned the pitcher interface difficulty up to 100 to see if that induced more walks - and it did.
Eckstein laid down a perfect drag bunt for a base hit. Very nice!
Braves went into the 9th up 1 and blew the save. New bullpen, same results.
One other cool thing I forgot to mention from my game last night...
Because I didn't know what I was doing, I wound up plunking the first Cardinal batter. When I came up to bat, Chris Carpenter fires a shot right at Alfonso Soriano with the first pitch. A couple innings later, he hits another guy, the bench gets a warning, and I got the option to argue, which I didn't take (though I should have).
When I get a chance to jot them down I will. I didn't do too much, I started with All-Star, fired up a game, and then once something didn't look right I went after the slider. I know I toned down power ratings for both AI and user, took the "step" influence for the swing stick WAY down (I think to 0 ), and pushed up the user contact number. I'm using the stick now and I'm hitting pretty well. When I switch to classic I hit more HR's it seems.
Yeah, I plunked two accidentally with Pedro when playing against the Red Sox, and Beckett retaliated immediately, getting thrown out of the game in the process. Haw.
Man people are so huffy on XBL! I thought this was supposed to be a game of baseball not here are a bunch of strikes down the middle for you to hit out of the park! I just played this guy (Blue Jays (me) v. Red Sox (him)) and gets mad at me cause I'm not throwing everything right down the middle. Lame.
