I couldn't find one (although I saw some ppl with Wiis standing outside of TRU Times Sq this morning) either. I got one shipped from another forum user.

I thought Golf was rather poor until I took the time to practice. It is very sensitive, so learning what motion equates to what power level takes some time. However, once you get a handle on it it is really pretty good.

All the Wii Sports games have more depth than you imagine at first glance. You can really learn shot power, spin and placement in Tennis, how to knock the pins to pick up 7/6 splits in Bowling, etc. The training modes are helpful.

The one that surprises me is Baseball - I hate baseball in real life and in previous video game form. But with the Wii I'm actually liking the pitch placement, pitch type & velocity you can use to really mess with a batter. Batting is timing and velocity as well - the other night I squeezed out a bunt down the third base line, much to my delight.

How do you change your pitches? I basically flick my wrist to get a fast ball, etc. I can't seem to do any curves....

I haven't played much baseball at all. How do you place your pitches? As far as I know it was just choose the pitch and get the velocity from your 'throw.'

Curve = hold down B

Screwball = hold down A

Splitter = hold down A+B

You can use the directional pad before the pitch to aim for a location (high, low, in, out). I had something interesting happen yesterday - just after the pitch left my hand an "!" appeared over my head, indicating I hadn't pitched the way I intended and it ended up a meatball over the plate. Pissed me off!

Wii Sports golf is a really fun, rewarding game; I'm enjoying it more every time I play it. Maybe I suck, but it is hard to hit a shot at 100% without going over and inducing a slice or hook, so hitting some of the smaller greens can be a real challenge.

I wonder if these fairly basic Wii Sports games are the start of the engines that will power the Wii Mario sports titles.

I hope Tiger is good for the Wii. IF that game turns out to be good it would be the one game that I could see myself really wanting to play on the Wii rather than my 360.

Read on ign's forums that Target and Best Buy are supposed to have Wii's for sale this Sunday. Someone posted this scan of a Best Buy document that says their stores will have 40 units minimum, good luck to anyone still looking.

Link is no longer working. Hope it's true though

Man, every friggin' time Nintendo decides to do a big shipment and stores do relaunches the Bears have a home game. This couldn't be next Sunday when I could get in line at 5:00am and not have to worry about getting to the game? I am beyond frustrated with Nintendo and the stores at this point. :evil:

Wario Ware: Smooth Moves has to be the most embarrassing game to play. Ever.

http://gonintendo.com/?p=10461

For the un-initiated, Wario Ware's mini-games usually takes less than 5 seconds to complete, however this appears to be a 'boss' minigame, played in the high score mode meaning you do it over and over again until you lose all your lives.

Tennis is a freaking blast with 2 players. My friend and I played for an hour or more tonight.. He got to the point where he smokes me now. He is very good at placing the ball where I can't even reach it. We were laughing the whole time.. hella fun.. then he played boxing for an hour or more and worked up a sweat.

I am giving Elebits a rental this weekend and I've really enjoyed it so far. This game really shows the potential of Wii, IMO. The control (Wiimote+Nunchuck) is incredibly smooth and is more accurate than any game I've played so far, particularly the depth-related motions. Swinging open a closet door has never been so much fun.

There is a surprising amount of gameplay depth--there are two different kinds of Elebits, ones that give you power (watts) and others that power up your capture gun. Capturing power Elebits allow you to turn on appliances, which expel the gun-enhancing Elebits, which are required to lift heavier objects to expose the power Elebits.

Not sure how the game will hold up, but it sounds like the edit mode is pretty robust, but I definitely recommend this as a rental for everyone with a Wii.

Thanks for the impressions Dave. I was curious about this one but opted for Super Swing Golf instead which I am still on the fence about.

The Blockbuster I go to has really added to the Wii selection over the past week--they also have Super Swing Golf but it wasn't in when I got there. After really getting into Wii Sports golf, I'm really interested to see how Tecmo's game plays. I'm looking forward to your impressions, Spooky.

Just got a little further in Elebits and they start giving you a maximum number of broken items. I was damn close to clearing a stage when an Elebit jumped out and knocked a plate onto the ground, causing me to fail. Stupid Elebit!

I did see that EGM gave it incredibly low scores. Haven't read the reviews, but I just don't see how this is a bad game. On top of the enjoyable gameplay, the control is incredibly smooth and accurate and there's no way a game like this works on the 360 or PS3. This is exactly the kind of game Nintendo has to hope the third parties make instead of ports and licensed crap.

I might be the Wii's first casualty.....

I'm considering parting ways with the Wii....maybe. I just don't know if I necessarily have the patience to wait for some above average games to surface on the Wii. Wii Sports is great, don't get me wrong. But, the other games I've rented besides Trauma Center (Madden, Monkey Ball, Super Swing Golf) have been disappointing to me at least. Personally, I think many of these games would be just as good or better on the 360 or PS3.

Graphically, these game really do suffer on my HDTV. Everything just feels muddy and fuzzy. The new cables I got from Nintendo haven't really impressed me all too much. The 360 believe it or not turned me in to a graphics whore.

Also, I'm finding myself becoming a little burned out on the whole Wiimote hysteria. I'll game sometimes on the 360 even if I'm a bit tired, but I'm finding the Wiimote a burden when I just want to relax and play a game. My arms and wrists become exhausted after 15 minutes or so of gaming.

The main reason I'd keep the Wii is for my kids. The downloadable games are decent right now, and I think they'll showcase some more retro games in the months ahead. These games would be great for my son, but having to spend 10-15 clams for an original Nintendo game is a bit much. I don't want to invest too much in to the system as it's not my main source of gaming. However, it's nice to know that the Gamecube games can be played on the system. I'm assuming I can probably find some old GC game on the cheap.

So, that's where it stands. I guess I keep thinking what I'd do with that extra 300 or so dollars.

I can't imagine you would have any trouble selling it. I took a drive down to Best Buy his morning and there were about 50 people in line so I just came home (I only live 5 min. away with no traffic).

I'm having the opposite experience; I find myself 'longing' to play the Wii even when I'm on the 360 (sometimes). There's no question that the graphics are not 'NextGen', but the gameplay experiences are.

That said, I think you're hitting the middle of a curve that EVERY DSP Wii owner will hit at some point over the next few months. The novelty of the Wii has worn off, and you realize that there just aren't any really great games to play. The next 6 monthe will be LEAN for the Wii, but I'm keeping it becaus I believe at the other end of the curve will be a flood of really great games. The development community is certainly taking note of the Wii's incredibly successful launch.

I would give it some serious though before bailing out, unless you're willing to regret it if you want one later and can't find one. I think mid-2007 will be where the Wii really starts to shine, including games with better graphics.

I had a similar experience this morning. Got to BB around 6:15 and I was about 30th in line. A little after 7, the manager came out and said he had 18 units. Went home empty handed. Word was Target had at least 60 people in line.
