Chant to Andy Carroll from the Newcastle faithful today as he left the pitch at St. James Park:

"What a waste of money ... What a waste of money ... What a waste of money."

So epic. So true!

Is Perch ok? I mean, a guy takes a headbutt like that and he's lucky that he ever walks again. I expect a charitable trust to be set up to aid his recovery immediately.

The waste of money chant has made the rounds since the first week of the season.

Hope the sniper that took out Perch is brought to justice. If Suarez went down like that to get someone sent off you'd never hear the end of it in the media.

Actually, the Reina bs red card was the best thing to happen to Kenny - deflects some of the focus because that was another dire performance - even if Cisse's 2nd was offside, it was no more than Newcastle deserved.

In Liverpool's last 20 games we have 23 points. In Hodgson's 20 games in charge of Liverpool we got 25 points.

Also, awful, awful man management of Andy Carroll - he actually wasn't that bad today (he should have scored by Simpson stopped it on the line) but to take him off so he can get the piss taken out of him by his hometown fans when Kuyt would other nothing different upfront was garbage.

Love him to death but Kenny needs to step down at the end of the season, if we lose to Everton at Wembley it'll get even tougher for him.....

Since Liverpool are fans of wearing T-Shirts for a cause, I suggest they wear 'Pray 4 Perch' shirts next game.

Great win by NUFC against Liverpool. I don't think the poor officiating determined the outcome, but it was shambolic. As for Perch, screw him. There is no room for that type of s*** in the BPL. I hate that stuff so much and wish the league would go back and look at such shenanigans on tape after the matches and suspend and fine players who clearly dive and embellish. As a fan of NUFC I am embarrassed by Perch's deceitful behavior. Leave that crap to Serie A and La Liga. The BPL doesn't need it.

Agree - like I said, Newcastle deserved the win.

Was just thinking, with Reina missing the semi-final against Everton - this could actually hurt Newcastle because if Everton get to the FA Cup Final (regardless of whether they win or lose), they could end up taking Newcastle's Europa League spot if they don't finish 5th. Could Perch even more of a genius.

LOL. I hadn't thought of that angle.

Serious lack of quality in the semi final today. Caroll gets rewarded for his hard work of late.
At times the play was so bad it was like a pro celebrity match topped off with David Schwimmer in net.

Struck me as a typical derby, more endeavor than quality. Suarez looked up for it for the first time in a while though, and Carroll seems to be rounding into something approaching good form.

Anybody think this penalty would have been called if Carroll hadn't converted the header?

Alexis had his chances, so did Fabregas, Messi missed a couple of close FK's and even up to the last second in ET Pedro missed an impossible goal. Chelsea defended very well as Barca had possession most of the game but just couldn't beat Cech. Didier, the difference.

I couldn't help but think of the hundreds of millions Roman's spent on player acquisitions, salaries etc., all for the chance to play like a scared Romanian 3rd division side going to meet '70 Brazil. 11 behind the ball, time wasting, diving, faking injury, standing on the ball to deny restarts...The Special One is somewhere in the shadows smiling.

And that just Drogba alone. :)

I hope Barca do them one in the return leg. Particularly because of what happened during that recent FA Cup Semi-Final - jeer during a minute of silence, "murderers" chants, couldn't sell out their ticket allocation in their own city, and notice very few flags at Wembley (because they club didn't provide them identical plastic ones) - joke a of club. Am, strangely, very happy for Roberto DiMatteo though.

I just got into soccer and have somewhat adopted Chelsea as my team. I even use them in FIFA.

I am glad they won but was also impressed how good Barcelona is. I just saw the highlights and Barcelona just missed on some goals.

It's interesting that Chelsea is in the final 4 for the Soccer 'Super Bowl' but they can't win their own EPL league. How come there's no playoff system in EPL? Has a playoff system ever been considered?

Well i was rooting for Chelsea. Drogba was incredible. Chelsea did all they could do but it still boiled down to Barca just not converting. Doubt thats gonna happen again, should be a good 2nd leg.

Bayern and Chelsea come on.

Has anyone used FoxSoccer2Go? I hadn't heard of it before miget33's post. I love the MLS pass.

A lot at stake tonight between El Clasico of La Liga. Barca wins and the tourney will go to the wire. Real wins and it's pretty much game over. Ronaldo vs Messi. It doesn't get any better.
