Some nice Tablets coming up in a few months so if you missed out on a TouchPad this maybe better for you.

1) The most interesting rumor is that Amazon will release an Android Tablet for close to cost and run on the Tegra 3 chip.
http://www.engadget.com/2011/08/29/tosh ... ifa-after/

2) This one sounds cool: "Toshiba rumored to be announcing ultra-thin tablet". What's cool about it is the display is edge to edge. 8)

No news from Samsung yet.

Any good free emulators out there?

They aren't "free" per se, you just have to know where to look. Or wait till this evening and I can email them to you. :)

Edit: Apparently free at the moment. The kicker is finding the Roms to go with the emulators.

Wow didn't realize you got a Tab? :)

Anyway go to the market and download the Adobe Flash plugin. Just do a search for Adobe and it's the first pick on the list. I wish I had figured this out earlier, now my TouchPad has become irrelevant.

Thanks, db. Free is a great price point. :D

Have you tried the N64 one?

Rodster, you really do need to work on retaining knowledge. You recommended a case to me on the last page.

He's gotta work on reading comprehension as well. :)

No, I've really only tried NES and Genesis...the only two I really care about and they work great, so no need to wander. :)

I downloaded the NES, SNES, and Genesis ones. I checked out the Genesis one last night. Is there no way to move the thumbpad to the bottom left of the screen? Also, can you change roms without restarting the tablet? I'm such a noob but this Galaxy Tab is way different than the iPad and I'm not used to it yet.

When you're in a game, hit the menu button at the bottom to bring up the options. From there you can modify the size, location, etc. of the controls and you can save/quit games from the menu as well. And wow...that's basic stuff. :)

lol..... I keep forgetting that almost every App can be gotten straight from a webpage.
For example, I now get these straight from the TP's web browser, instead of Apps: ESPN3, Zinio, Google News,
Netflix, HBO Go, Ebay, Audible, Huff Post, ESPN. I sometimes forget an "app" is really just a glorified
icon for a webpage :)

I'm pretty sure there wasn't a menu button at the bottom. I'll recheck when I get home.

It's the main honeycomb menu button...in the bottom left corner...the persistent icons that are there all the time in Android (well 95% of the time anyway). The menu one appears where there is a menu in that particular application.

From my post a few pages back:

See the lines at the bottom...that's the menu button.

I did not know that. I just upgraded Honeycomb two days ago. Were those lines there out of the box?

Yup, always been there on Honeycomb tablets. Again, the "menu" button (the one on the right) is only there when an App supports it. So sometimes the menu button goes away (like when you're on your home screen).

I guess the Amazon rumors might be that they are entering the Tablet business. They are beta testing their new website which is enhanced for Tablets. :)

You will see more and more of this.......websites designed specifically for tablets...just as we did with site for mobile phones.
The more tablets grab the PC/Laptop market share, the more everything will shift towards them.

I think this coming holiday season will see a crazy run on tablets as more and more enter the market at lower prices.
Competition is Good!!! Beware Apple! :)

I'm all over an Amazon Tablet. I love buying from Amazon so it's a guaranteed purchase. Even if it's Android based it should still be good for Amazon because like I said they sell apps, e-books, music, games, and rent movies and videos.

Several analyst have chimed in and said they pose the biggest headache to Apple because they sell so much stuff from their site. It's akin to EA selling a videogame console.

So all the things google does already? :)

An Amazon tablet will likely be locked to their services. Depending on price, that could be a good thing, but most likely not. I'd rather be able to use a variety of accounts. Google Books, Nook, Kindle...all usable on a regular Honeycomb tablet (and phone for that matter), so if Amazon locks em down, that would be bad. They'll still sell a ton though.
