Bears haven't won a game that has mattered in 2 years.
I still route for them because I am a fan but they won't win the next 3 games, at best 2-1. That might be enough if Minnesota losses their two roid freaks.
Also just because it is required for me to say this Charles Tilman couldn't cover a slant to save his life. I really, really hate the Bears secondary.

I feel terrible for Bills' fans. Not only did they lose home field advantage for a late season game to a rival, they had to watch the game in Rogers Centre, a sterile dome with nothing to offer in terms of atmosphere. Expensive and limited parking outside of the stadium pretty much make tailgaiting a non-option as well.
I can't believe people (people who live in Toronto I assume) paid upwards to $1200 a pair off scalpers to see this game. Why not drive an hour to see a game in Buffalo instead (many do this on a regular basis). Or spend the $1200 and fly with a buddy to Miami to see the game and soak up a few days of sun. Only fitting that the game was a complete snooze-fest.

Well it was made up for a little bit in OT, although that was still PI.
The Bears did everything they could to give this game away.
Olin snaps the ball early for a second week in a row, maybe all those Grossman fumbles weren't Rex's fault.
Fake punt was a horrible call.
Worse yet with 5+ minutes left the Bears nursing a lead what do they do pass and pass again with the INT.
Terrible coaching job tonight.

Better than the smelly Euro style shootout that the NCAA uses. Play some defense and you get the ball back.greggsand wrote:I says good thing they called "heads" instead of "tails". I have to agree with Dan about the coaching. Not good. The fake punt was too risky, even if it would have worked had Peterson held onto the ball. The Bears D was finally playing well, so I would have pinned the Saints deep instead of running a risky fake. Hell of a throw by Maynard, though.
The two straight passes after stopping the Saints on 4th and 1 were just idiotic. They had one time out with five minutes left. Even a three and out could have taken a couple minutes off the clock.
Having said that, they won a game they had to win to stay in the division race. That makes me happy as a Bears fan.
Happy as a Bears fan as well, but that game gave me a 3 hour eye ache as a football fan.
Bad coaching, poor playing, atrocius officiating...all in a game with two teams playing for their playoff lives. Imagine the spectacle if the game didn't mean so much!

True. I haven't seen that many drops since NFL 2k3RobVarak wrote:Happy as a Bears fan as well, but that game gave me a 3 hour eye ache as a football fan.

At the same time, I worried Brees would throw for 500 yards against this secondary. It was nice to see the defense contain the Saints offense. Without the brain-dead turnovers by the Bears O, the game wouldn't have been close.
Bears Defense and Lakefront weather. I was downtown at the Union League Club pickling my liver in Ketel One at a Christmas party, and the 2 block walk to the parking lot felt a hell of a lot colder than the 22 degrees that the thermometer was reading. It was hellaciously windy. It was so cold that if both of Devin Hester's neurons had been firing they may have frozen together.Brando70 wrote:

When it comes down to this time of the season it doesn't matter how you win as long as you do. For as many times as the Bears made me crazy last night they also made me jump out of my chair. For a team that has seen 3 other NFC South teams take the lead on them late in the game to win the game the Bears showed something to me they haven't all season; resiliency. Such a wonderful trait to discover late in the season.
While Orton made some bad plays it is the fact that they don't phase him that tells me the Bears should sign him to a long term contract and shore up the d-line, secondary, and without-a-doubt the WR corp. Housh would looke great in a Bears uniform.
It wasn't pretty but it was huge. All you have to do is make it to the playoffs and anything can happen from there. Just ask the Giants last year and the Steelers a few years back. The Bears are starting to overcome mistakes now they have to put teams away; something they could have done in each of the last two games. The Saints were ready to lay down after coming up empty on their first drive of the second half which saw them eat up half of the quarter, spend two time-outs, and come up empty. Another score of any kind would have put that game away but the Bears turned it over.
They've got 11 days to prepare for the Packers. If they can't get up for that game after what they did to them at Lambeau than I don't know what would possibly motivate them. I hope to see the Vikings lose to the Cards and the Falcons in those 11 days. But for now I just have to do my best Al Davis impersonation and say "Just win, baby!"

Gotta love the Bills!
Is there an NFL franchise out there desperate enough for a QB that they'd sign Losman? Good lord that was pretty piss poor quarterbacking to hand the ball to the Jets like that.
Next time maybe the Bills will be a little more cautious on handing out head coach contract extensions!
Best wishes,
Doug

Now I have the right thread...
My question for the head of NFL refs on the NFL network would be ...Is delay of game a penalty anymore?
Every week I see countless play clocks expire without a call.
If it isnt a penalty lose the clock. Thanks.
Edit: I would like to thank Dan for pointing me to the right thread.
I would also like to thank Mike Pereira for covering up this years ..um...lets say NBA style officiating.

I'm a Bears fan and I'm not upset. You let the Vikings and Packers kick your ass in big games, you handed Atlanta and Tampa games by poor coaching and play on the field. If you can't beat your divisional opponents you don't deserve to win the division. Won't matter much as I fully expect another ass kicking by Green bay next week.fletcher21 wrote:Never seen a Vikings ass kicking like this in my life. The Cards have nothing to play for, and I'm sure Bears fans are pretty upset about it. They're not even trying... Minn is TERRIBLE and put up 21 in the first quarter alone

Disagree...and since the ruling on the field was no TD...he needs a clear TD.ScoopBrady wrote:I disagree Alex, that was definitely a touchdown. You can see his feet down and the ball crossing the goalline.
and the one on that was challenged for a first down in the first half? the guy wasnt even close.
Either replays are conclusive or they arent...seems to me this dude was double dealing.

Hey, I have no rooted interest in the outcome and I thought it was a touchdown in realtime. The replays ony confirmed it for me. You're not letting a Super Bowl loss to a certain team cloud your judgment, are you?XXXIV wrote:Disagree...and since the ruling on the field was no TD...he needs a clear TD.ScoopBrady wrote:I disagree Alex, that was definitely a touchdown. Rod Perry was 2 inches away from knocking that ball away from Stallworth

Yeah, he definitely was "double dealing." What an idiot for waiting until 3rd and goal with under a minute left to seal the deal. Thank God for him that Big Ben threw a pass across the field to an open receiver with both feet in the end zone that was close enough to review to bail him out.
I guess he felt guilty at the end and called the most assinine personal foul I've ever seen. If the Steelers get the benefit of a personal foul when the other team's *kicker* lightly pushes someone twice his size, I hope Tomlin declines it on principle alone.

I agree 100%.Leebo33 wrote: I guess he felt guilty at the end and called the most assinine personal foul .
Please though explain to me why he needs conclusive evidence on an obvious 1st half call but its close enough in the 2nd half.
That kinda inconsistency is s***.
Either you need conclusive evidence or you dont.
