yes you need media center. and then you need to download a small program for it to work with the 360. I think that is on the xbox site. do a search and you'll find it. That program should walk you through.

Here's a great free program that will encode videos to the format the 360 uses to stream:

Diablo25 wrote: Agreed. The Windows Media Center options are even better. I love recording TV on my PC and then accessing it in the living room on my 360 :)
Jack, you must have Windows Media Center on your PC to access videos, etc. If you have a Media Center PC then you are good to go.

You can access pictures and music (no videos) with just an XP system using Windows Media Connect...its at the MS website. I have a TV tuner on my Media Center PC in the bedroom. Anything I record on it and can access/stream with my 360 in the living room. Very cool. I can even watch Live TV through the 360 if I want. all possible with a Media Center PC

Again, In simple terms...
Media Connect = pictures and music
Media Center = pictures, music and video files.

All,

Don't forget that XBox Live is scheduling Tuesday, October 17 for a day of maintenance and small updates. Figures this happens the day SC and TW are released....

I'm pretty sure I won't be getting my hands on SC until Wednesday, seeing as the ship date EB has listed is Tuesday.

I pre-ordered from the publisher (they sent me a $10 off coupon for my birthday) instead of a local store for the first time and it looks like it's going to pay off. My ubisoft store order says it shipped via FedEx Ground on Thursday 10/12. I'm guessing I'll have it on Monday ... Tuesday at the latest.

Anyone having problems downloading the SC demo? It kicked me out twice, and I'm only at 14% or so.

No problems, also downloaded Phantasy Star with no difficulty. Phantasy Star is highly reminiscent of the Dreamcast Phantasy Star Onlines... which IMO is not good as it doesn't appear to be holding up terribly well.

what arcade games are worth paying for the full games for? The Marble Blast demo is a lot of fun and I thought Doom might be worth the $10 in points....brings back memories of when I got started in PC Gaming. Galaga looks like fun. I heard that Contra is coming soon....that was my favorite Sega Genesis game.

I've bought quite a few of the full versions but my top 5 arcade games would be:

1) Geometry Wars
2) Zuma
3) Marble Blast Ultra
4) Galaga (retro fun)
5) Texas Hold'em (of course it was free when I downloaded it)

I'm eagerly awaiting Lumines and Contra.

Bang for buck, Geometry Wars wins that crown over any game on the system.

I don't know how to feel about this new version of SC versus mode. It seems pretty dumbed down, and I can only hope the limit on gadgets is a demo thing. One of the things I liked best about the old SC vs. was the selection of gadgets, and how different the experience can be depending on what gadgets you and your teammate carry and choose to use. I haven't read a thing about the new SC vs., so I wonder can you only carry one gadget at a time? No spy bullets? No camera system for the mercs? No flares? And worst of all, no shock gun for the spies? So there's no way to annoy the hell out of a merc by zapping him repeatedly from a hidden location?

Watching the videos, I was at first very concerned about the effect of the proximity sensor. I thought to myself, 'well this sucks, how can you hide in the shadows and let a merc walk right by, never knowing you're there?' Having played a couple of rounds as a merc (can't seem to join a room as a spy), there were plenty of times when I had that proximity sensor going, but couldn't find the spy for the life of me. So it's different, but maybe it's not really ruined.

We'll see. I'm hopeful that the full game is a little more robust than what the demo shows. Even so, there's no question this new vs. mode is pretty simplified and dumbed down (maybe the devs would say 'streamlined?'), which I guess could let those who didn't play much SC vs. to feel less intimidated about jumping in, but it just might make the game too different and not nearly as enjoyable as the first two. We'll see.

Courtesy of major nelson, Lumis Live will be available tomorrow. I know many of you were waiting on this one. Here is a snipet of his post:
The full version of the game will be 1200 points. Plus an optional pack for 600 points will also be available that will allow gamers to change their music scene as well as choose from 22 new skins. I'll post the moment 'Lumines Live' is available on the Marketplace.

Wasn't the original rumor that the optional pack would include additional levels? If Nelson's information is correct, then it looks like they might have dropped that idea, fortunately.

I'm looking forward to this game, it'll be interesting to see how well it translates to the big screen.

Nelson says that the advance pack will be "along at a later date."

Anyone else having connection issues to Xbox Live? When I try to login, it says: "Some profiles could not be signed in to Xbox Live. There may be a network problem or a profile that is not valid. Test your connection or recover your profile from Xbox Live."

Anyone else get that? This is the first time I've gotten it and this is the first time I've tried to login since the update yesterday.

I'm getting that, too. Guess the update didn't go as smoothly as they planned.

I'd really like to play some Lumines before heading out of town, so hopefully the problem is resolved soon.
