Any specifics of which you're curious? I'll try to answer any of your questions.
In a nutshell, if you liked either Moto GP or Moto GP 2, you'll love this game.
One observation: I really thought the Extreme tracks would be hokey as hell. Stupid design, outer-space stuff. Wrong. Some of them are fantastic. Really good design and fun based on the locales they're trying to represent.

Thanks PK. Basically I just wanted to know if the control was as tight as the past 2. I was a big fan of those titles and was hoping they didn't really screw anything up. It sounds like it's Moto GP 2 with more added. That's exactly what I wanted. Hopefully I will have it by tomorrow.

Control is very tight. Only differences I can feel are that the engine braking is less effective, as Kruza said, and the mechanical brakes don't seem quite as effective. That makes the game a bit more of a sim, in my opinion, which is a good thing!
Handling and sliding characteristics of the bike seem unchanged from Moto GP 2, another good thing.
I love the Live awareness of this game and how you can play your career online or offline, like Forza.

You guys might not have recognized me, but I was on with you guys for a little bit last night. My gamertag is NM156.
I only had like 3 options for riders. Sometime soon I need to create my own bike. I was definitely rusty, and using the S-Controller didn't help. I usually use my Logitech wireless, but I wanted the headset so I went back to the other controller. That just made things worse, as I had to adjust to the stick sensitivity. I also had troubles with the headset. I could not hear anyone.
I now need to practice a bit in order to get back into a groove. I was all over the place last night

I forgot how hard riding these things is for me. I use the right analog stick for gas with the triggers for brakes and it is quite an adjustment from Toca and Forza. I ripped the shrink wrap off and jumped straight in to a lobby with all of you guys running the fantasy tracks that I had never seen before. I promptly brought up the rear every race when I wasn't knocking people down first. I need some offline time to get the feel back again. I was never great, but I usually didn't embarass my self.

You've identified the reason why I think this game is hard to characterize as arcade or sim.
Yeah, it's not a pure sim as far as handling, etc., but it sure as hell isn't a point-and-shoot arcade game, either.
The MGP series always has struck that perfect balance between difficulty and playability that's so elusive for many racing game designers.
This game is mega fun, but there's nothing easy about it.

I mainly did some hot-lapping last night at the Sausage Ring and I think Jerez...
Getting to a level where I get <5 seconds of penalty time a lap is going to take a while. The smoothness required is beyond my abilities right now. I'm missing apexes, then over-compensating for that, going wide, getting on the throttle too soon, over-cornering, etc. etc.
But, despite putting up times between 1:18 and 1:25 at Sausage, it was a blast trying to point and shoot the bike around.
Whenever I get online with this, I'll try not to crash anyone when getting lapped!

Indeed. When you're "in the zone" in this game, it's probably more rewarding than any console racing game experience I can think of except for maybe a ripping lap of the 'Ring in Project Gotham Racing 2.AcemanPR wrote:Once you race that awesome lap, the feeling is so rewarding. I had trouble hearing people as well. I would see Sport's and Web's indicator pop up a lot, but I couldn't make out what they were saying (probably "f*ck" or "stop slamming on your brakes when I least expect it, ass"). I had absolutely no trouble hearing PK though, especially while he is laughing while running me over after I crashedmatthewk wrote:I also had troubles with the headset. I could not hear anyone.
This is my favorite online racing series by a fairly large margin. It provided me with my first jaw dropping moment on XBL with the demo and it will provide me with many more.
I like how you can jump in and play without having the courses memorized. I'm sure it helps and it will only get better, but I think the on screen indicators are very nice for a novice racer.

I'm pretty sure in Moto GP 2 you could only hear the guy in front of you and the guy behind you after the race starts. The communication problems extended into the Lobby for me; I could only hear PK the entire time. Needless to say, I quit and went to play something else...
Still, the game itself is great, even though I absolutely suck at this point.

Do you set your own control scheme in MotoGP 3 to set throttle, brakes, etc. similar to that of TOCA and Forza? There is complete customization in MotoGP 3, and I personally don't even bother trying to race under defualt controls except for the cases I have to use independent brakes in order to compete a couple of Tutorial lessons.

MotoGP really is one of the most rewarding racing games out there, regardless of platform.
I didn't play MotoGP 2, so I'm playing some serious catch-up. However, it didn't take long for me to remember why I would stay up late at night and play the MotoGP demo and then later the full game.
Like Ace stated above, once you run that perfect lap... or in my case, just that perfect turn or two (cause I'm a looooong ways off from the perfect lap) you just really want to strive to get even better.
I don't like this type of racing in real life. You'd never catch me watching this stuff and I don't know jack about it. But I do know that MotoGP is one of the most fun racing games around!

So you use R and L trigger for gas and (front/rear brake)? BBReBozo (sp?) did that too, and y'all are both way faster than me. I have tried it a few times but I feel like I am missing something in not having independent brakes. You want to powerslide a bit to create a tighter turning circle? In that case, you need independent brakes for that because you have to hit the rear brake and briefly lock it up in order to initiate it.
Eh... powersliding around corners is pretty cool to do, but it's not my riding style. I just can't get it right consistently racing with the default control scheme so I gave up trying. There's no doubt it's the faster way to handle corners though. Looks nice when you pull it off too.
And here's my control scheme:
L trigger - Brake
R trigger - Throttle
A - Upshift
X - Downshift
B - Rearview mirror
Y - Change camera view
L thumbstick - Steer (left/right); Tuck in (up); Stand up (down)
R thumbstick - Shift gears (up/down)

You should at least give it a try. MotoGP is great. Rossi may be one of the greatest, or at least most exciting racers of all time. Check it out sometime on Speed.
