I believe JRod said a max of 7 skill points. I'm just using my 0 skill point guy that I use in another league.

There's no real MAX. I use a guy how has 7 power just because it offers realistic driving distances.

So there's a soft limit on players abilities. Just keep it on the lower side of things.

John -- This tournament is New South Wales not O.M. FYI. Next week's tournament will probably be a tour of the Scottish Courses, Loch Lomond and St. Andrews.

I think it would be cool if we could all use 7 point guys for our tournaments.

I should be on tonite at around 7 pm and again around 10 EST if anyone wants to play round 2.

I use a 7 point guy (2 for power) and I avg around 250 for driving.
I've hit as far as 290. I think that's pretty realistic. Driving is so easy in this game, I don't think we need to lower scores by using guys with a lot of power points (IMO).

Darn it. I totally forgot to join this tourney. I will try to join in the future.

I really recommend keeping players limited to just the 7 points you get after the tutorial. That worked great in the past and you could really see how you stacked up against the competition.

I'd be really interested in seeing the results of this league. I don't have XBox Live, but I'm really diggin' this game offline and at least I'd be able to see how I stack up against you guys.

hey jrod. I paused the game not knowing that the timer still ran even if game is paused. So when I got back it timed me out. So it looks like they gave me an incomplete. Do you still want me to play the 3rd and fourth round? Sorry about this. I didn't know. See ya later.

I'm also all for a max of 7 points. I don't know if this can be enforced or not.

Also, something is up with posting of the scores. The scores from the round Jack and I played last night have yet to post, despite having said they were transmitted successfully. Ditto with my second round scores from earlier tonight.

Chances are, if your score hasn't posted from last night, you'll get an incomplete. That's the sad world of XSN for you.

An incomplete would look better than my +14 from round 2 8O

XSN never posted me and Blub's round 1 scores. I guess we have to play round 1 again?

p.s. if anyone wants to play round 1 or 2, I will be on tonite at 7 pm and then again after 10 pm

Signup for Tourney 2 is now up. Deadline to sign up is Sunday night 11:59 PM (PST).

Tournament: DSP TOURNEY 2
Password: 4561570

This is a Scottish Swing tournament. Loch Lomond is the course for round 1 and 3, while St. Andrews is the course for 2 and 4. The conditions are "Scottish". Wet weather and wind will play a factor. If you are looking to score, Saturday is "moving" day and conditions are favorable to scoring.

Conditions (Round):
1: PGS5AA2
2: NLNJ8HT
3: DWUQQGB
4: H54FHWG

Invites have been sent out to those who played in Tourney 1. If you have any problems getting in, let me know.

WTF. What did you do? I had a terrible first round. My fingers were extra twitchy and that led to a lot of blown scoring chances. I hate to think what is going to happen in round 2 if I putt the way I did in the 1st round. I think I had 34 putts.

JRod, I'm going to have to pass on the 2nd tourney. I'm out of town from July 2nd to the 11th, I guess I could sign up in hopes of making it home in time on Sunday to get 4 rounds in...but that might be too cumbersome. I would hate to take up a spot that someone else could occupy when I'm unsure if I'll be able to fulfill my responisbility.

I'll wait to see how many we get for the next tourney, if we're lacking in participation, then I'll throw my name in there.

There are 16 spots so unless DSP gets a flood of Links golfers I don't think you'll take a spot. If you can get it in that's great, if not we'll have a weekly tourney as long as I have the time.

Jack, I figured out the problem with our scores. Actually it was human error on my part - I think I chose the wrong tournament (the first, aborted DSP one). I just tried to replay the first round and this time it registered properly. Sorry about that, but hopefully this offers a chance to improve on your earlier score.

Sully,
I sent one out to the same name that's in DSP 1. I think that's Sully713 or whatever one is in our first tourney.

+26 in the hurricane-force winds of the second round. Now I remember why Links lost its shine with me.

C'mon guys, are you really using 7-point players?

Damn straight I'm using a 7 point player. I created a profile, did the tutorial to get 7 points (and NO other play with that profile) and that is the one I use online. My player's driver distance is 265 yards without wind (I think I have 3 skill points attributed to power) and then I distributed the others (4 more points) to the other skills.

I'm using a player with zero skill points. That's just the way I prefer to play.

JRod, I did get the invite. All my XSN mail goes to a email account I rarely check. Thanks man.

I use a 10 point player because I feel 7 points for distance closely models how hard I hit it in real golf. I know its a bit of cheating but that's why I put a soft limit on points. I think 1 for power is a bit too low and unrealitics while anything over ten and that puts you as a very long hitter, so much so that you would be in the top 5 on the PGA tour in driving distance. Hell anything about 15 is stupid long.
