I didn't play a single minute of SP in Black Ops 1, 2, or MW3. I've been paying $60 for MP only for a few years.
That's where I am at. Where will my interest be after two weeks of shooting metals, but I am enjoying it very much online. Certainly would be a hoot if there's a poker night among us.

Speaking of Call of Duty games, I DO need to play some campaign dammit, the last 2 BO have been great I hear.

Keeping my pre-order of Titanfall for sure.

I think this game is going to go down as one of the most overly hyped games of this generation. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun experience, but it's nothing ground breaking. Then again, FPS have been around for so long now that I'm just burned out on them. There's some cool things like scaling walls and jumping from building to building, and the Titans are pretty cool to control, but there seems to be little strategy between teammates, and it's more or less just chaotic.

Gameflying this one to experience all the maps, and then it'll go back after a couple weeks. Sadly, with no campaign mode, it feels half baked.

Yes, Titanfall has been overhyped but I've been mostly enjoying the beta. Feels very polished like COD and the Titans add some new strategy. The last Titan only game plays completely different from Attrition and Hardpoint. I'm interested to see what other game modes they roll out. I'm hoping for some kind of Survival/Horde mode (there was something like that in the tutorial).

As usual, the rounds I played with a few friends were best. Since this is the first big thing on XB1 it should be easy to find games on my friends list.

I'll be on the beta starting around 9:30et tonight if anyone wants to party up.

I think the game is great. I am really enjoying it and think that it feels like a refreshing spin on the FPS genre. Revolutionary, no, but fun and different enough.

Where I am disappointed is the fact that at the end of the day, it's just another multiplayer FPS with its standard modes. When it was first being shown with that first trailer, I got the impression it would be MUCH more of a objective based online game similar to the great and severely overlooked Medal of Honor 'Combat Mission' mode. The fact that there is no single player and the early interviews with the game creators led me to believe that the main online mode was going to play out like opposing sides attacking and defending an array of different objectives in one match. Bummer that this is not the case and has turned into a very standard FPS affair.

A bit more on the campaign mode:

http://www.polygon.com/2014/2/17/542044 ... play-twice
Titanfall's campaign will take place outside the game's "classic modes." Designed to be short on story, these are what Respawn is showing off in the current beta...

"With the campaign multiplayer, you'll play once through as the IMC and once through as the Militia," Heppe wrote. "Because it's a multiplayer game, it's always moving. It'll start out with these scripted sequences, and there'll be way more dialog and characters and way more context for the world than you would otherwise get in the classic modes, but it's not a single-player game. It is still a multiplayer game with story elements woven in."

The thing for me is that playing this title I don't quite feel as hopeless as matching up with those 12 year olds playing COD. Every kill gets you closer to an unlock, to the next level and even though you may not figure in the top 3 in your team and kill as many pilots as the top guys do, you can still get a feel of success on the battlefield. Graphics wise (this is the area I felt it was a bit overhyped) it is as good as Killzone on the PS4 and yeah, adding some other modes would be a plus.

Not sure why this is being called the "shooter for people who suck at shooters" as I suck at shooters and apparently suck at shooters for people who suck at shooters.

I am able to consistently rank in the middle after each round with a few last places and a few first places. So that quote seems to resonate with me.

I think it is a solid shooter with modes and mechanics that set it apart. But I also finished at the bottom of most every match, just like always. But someone has to be last, right?

Absolutely loved the game, though.

I've absolutely loved every match I've played, and I don't play shooters at all. Getting around the map is fast and fun, and I never feel outmatched when facing off against a Titan while on foot. The rodeo rider guys always seem shocked when I get out and shoot them, which never gets old. I don't know if people normally just sit there while they know they're going to blow up or what...

But overall I'm extremely impressed with how chaotic it feels and how fun the matches are. I don't know how long I can play any shooter anymore, as far as longevity goes, but this is the first one that has a chance in my game rotation in a lot of years.

It's only over hyped because there is nothing even remotely worthy of "system seller" status for either console at this point IMO. Theif? Infamouse? MGS? At least this is an original IP but it doesn't scream next gen, which is probably why it will also be on the 360.

If you're not into shooters this isn't going to change that in anyway.

It's funny...I've been less than enthused about Titanfall, even after you guys have spoken highly of the Beta...and after watching that video, I'm sure I'll hate it. What a clusterf*ck half the time. I'm too old for that madness. It's basically why I like BF4 over COD. Fast twitch madness drives me insane. Sure does look pretty tho.

The titan-on-titan battles look pretty awesome, especially the melee.

Is there anything the titan can do to counter the rodeo move?

Hop out and shoot the rider while he has his head down.

Is there a way to pre-order a digital copy? I thought I remember seeing a news item awhile back, but nothing is turning up. It'd be cool if you could pre-load it and then have it unlock.

Edit.

Nevermind. No pre-loading on XB1: http://www.gamespot.com/articles/titanf ... 0-6417889/

That's a bummer. My plan is to make the purchase before I leave for work and be hopeful it will be ready to go by the time I get home that night. I expect mega long download times the first day or two.

Yep. Preparing myself for a few days of slow downloads and server issues interfering with play. No reason that this should be different from previous EA online experiences.

Since its MP only, I was hoping for more game modes. Besides the three in the beta, there's really just one more: CTF. Then there's a variant of Attrition where you only get points for killing other pilots. It does have 15 maps though.

I'll be playing tomorrow night. :D
