You have to make it through those tutorial missions first. I've never experienced anything close to that. But I did learn to stop trying to help random people, as some guy was having a shootout with the cops, and I flew a chopper close to give him a lift. He C4'd me instead.

Once you get those tutorial missions out of the way, where you steal the car and get it fitted with the tracker and insurance--then you can quit out, and any time you go to Online from story mode, first go to the Online tab. Then go down to Play GTA Online, and there's an option for Invite Only Session, or Closed Session from there.

I'll be out of town for the next two nights. Going down to do some work on my late father-in-law's farm; we're moving down there within the next 18 months, and there's a lot to do to get it prepped. I'll be back Friday night!

I will try to be online to play some tonight as well.

Spook, too bad none of the crew were on to lend a hand. Would have loved to hand out some payback. Once you hit level 10 you can put a bounty out on his head. Not sure how much this costs, but should get him to leave you alone as others will be hunting him down. Might help in the future anyway.

Nothing like having a bounty put on you though. Man, do you ever feel like the world is against you.

If you're in the race, that's the tutorial. You finish it (they always take you out, yeah--you have to drive 100% defensively to have a shot, or clip their Rear quarterpanel after they show you aggression to avoid it), then you have to continue on with the missions it gives you. Getting some dope back, stealing a car, etc.

If you're quitting out of the race or just leaving afterward, you are going to be in a loop starting it all over again.

Ok thanks, I thought it was just a race online because the other racers all have names. I watched a video of a tutorial and the opening race had only Lamar and that player racing. Thanks for clearing that up!

They group you with other players if other people are doing the tutorial at the same time. If you're the only one, it would just be you vs. Lamar.

I might skip Prayer Night tonight -- need a break from town politics for a week -- and stay home, do laundry and hang with you mofos on the streets of Los Santos. I'm always good for parachuting into the side of a building. :)

It was fun playing with a few of you guys (Teal and RobVarak) last night, even though they massacred me in deathmatch. I didn't see anyone else.

I don't know if you guys play with voice chat enabled, but my kids broke my headset and I've had to order a new one. Sorry if anybody thought I was being a silent pr*ck.

PK, don't worry, I faceplanted into the pavement on the first parachute race I tried.

(BTW, does one compare notes on GTA V at Prayer Night?) 8)

A sublime pleasure last night playing online with a DSP-only room. That's what online gaming is supposed to be.

Sorry again for my "over-exuberance." Everything was just so beautiful, floating in the clouds literally and physically. :)

Let's do this again soon!

P.S. to Bulls: No Prayer Night last night. I stayed home to play GTA with you f*ckers! Zero regrets. What fun.

Fun stuff except for that one mission where I never could "find the Patriot", disliked that one x100.

Ha, yeah about the only action I saw was when PK and someone else rode up on me in a winnebago with cops chasing them. After laughing and trying to figure out is that a "patriot", I popped'em both thru the windshield. Too bad I didnt have a sticky bomb.

I think that mission has potential once everyone figures out what the heck to do.

That was an absolute blast last night. Sorry for having to cut out instantly...family emergency via phone all of a sudden.

But I have so much more fun playing with guys I know. Watching whoever it was tear their chute on the skyscraper and plummet 50 stories to a faceplant was epic.

Ditto. Always fun times running around in GTA with friends. So much variety in this game and just think - soon we'll be getting a content creator as free DLC to make your own games and house rules.

Turns out my character was glitched. After many more failed attempts to connect to GTA Online tonight, I deleted him and created a new one. Now I think if I can finish the entire tutorial before quitting, I'll be good to join you guys next time I get a chance.

Agree with you completely on the DLC. Also looking forward to heists being added at some point. Tell me what other game can you think of that has this much value for the original $60? What other company would giveaway all the extras (GTA Online, Content Creator, etc.) for free? In my opinion, DLC is OUT OF CONTROL. After being nickled and dimed by everyone else, kudos to Rockstar for not only making an epic game but supporting it fully and not doing cashgrabs.

(PS Yes I know you can buy GTA dollars with real money, but no one os forced to do so.)

Amen. Rob, Teal and I said the same thing the other night while plundering and pillaging Los Santos -- this game is an INCREDIBLE value.
