I'll get the new 'Box, but it won't be at or near launch day. Never has been. I'm just not an early adopter. The launch stuff is usually just not that big a deal; that could change this time around, but I don't really think it'll matter. I'm actually probably about to replace my old dinosaur with a new 250G model, and that'll do me for at least the first generation of games.

But then again, the damned forum effect might render all that stuff I just said utter horseshit...lol

Day 1 here. Hoping the rumor of full backward compatibility is true. Overall it's not a big deal, but early on in a console's life cycle it's nice to be able to play the quality stuff from the previous gen. and I'd prefer to have 1 less console under the tele if possible.

I won't buy the 720 on launch day because Microsoft's first-generation hardware with the 360 was horrible. I need proof there are no design flaws -- remember RROD, anyone? -- before I commit to a first-gen version of the 720.

I remember RROD, and experienced it. I won't make excuses for MS because it was inexcusable, but they did replace it for free. Only thing I was out was a console for about 10 days, give or take.

I'm betting Microsoft will work to avoid another RROD fiasco. I'll probably buy the next Xbox right away. Since I very rarely use my PS3 for gaming, I can wait on or maybe skip the PS4

Yeah I'm pretty sure the new Xbox will be rock solid. No way they f it up like they did last generation. The only reason it didn't bury them is because the 360 is so much better than the ps3 from a multiplayer standpoint. If they didn't have that huge advantage there's no way they recover from the first two years of rrod.

for the 2 new consoles, it'll depend which sports games get developed for which system and which get ported over. EA developed for PS2 and ported to XBOX so the PS2 sports games were better. Reverse this last gen where the games were developed for XBOX360 and ported to PS3, so edge went to XB.

For the older guys who dont kick it "fanboy" style, we want the Live experience. So if M$ doesnt screw that up, they will have the majority of DSP.

Not that there aren't a few of those brain damaged "fanboy" goons on the board, they are just the vast minority.

Last of Us is the one game I am really amped for. I will also buy The Show on day 1.

I agree with the sentiment that new consoles are needed even if I don't rush right out and get one. Mobile gaming is fine and entertaining, but more of a diversion than the experience that the best console (or PC) games can provide.
