From what I have read you can hold a club or at least the handle of a club so I'll definitely be in that boat. Maybe a weighted shaft (save the jokes
) or something similar.

Yeah, I have one of those shafts that I use for practice and guidance during my range time at the club. Will use it for the Kinect for sure.Diablo25 wrote:From what I have read you can hold a club or at least the handle of a club so I'll definitely be in that boat. Have to turn your body to face the TV instead of swinging side to target. Hmmmmm.....no go for me.

Really bummed that they're not releasing a new version for the Wii this year.

TW11 and 12 for the Wii lost money big time. They took the Wii team and incorporated them into the 360/PS3 team for the Kinect and Move swing integrations. Too bad for Wii owners. Too bad the Wii graphics are so poor compared to TW on the other consoles....Wilk5280 wrote:Really bummed that they're not releasing a new version for the Wii this year.

Not to mention tons more courses I didn't have to pay DLC for.
Understand the finances though...just disappointed.
Notice the video had no swing feedback...I hope that is because it is an early build.

Gameplay vid of Dustin Johnson. No new Kinect info...just gameplay footage.

I'm actually pumped if it truly works well with the kinect. If reviews are good, I'll pick it up for sure.
Would be a great game to play with some buddies over.

I'm so TIRED of the same old ball-flight-cam. Sure wish they would change it up...

You and me both Leadfoot5! I don't know why they choose to rollout the game year-after-year, using the same ol' waist-high swing camera, with the Follow Cam in effect. It makes the game look so shallow and arcadish. It's really an injustice this year because one of the devs has already admitted on the forum that there are now about 6 camera angles (as opposed to the 3 we've had since Tiger 06) available to the gamer at address. One of them is a top-down view, as though you're looking down at the ball from the eyes of your golfer at address. The PS3 had this "First Person View" with the Move interface in Tiger 12, but it was only available when you were using the Move... which was dreadful in Tiger 12, IMO.Leadfoot5 wrote:I'm so TIRED of the same old ball-flight-cam. The camera production goodies apparently don't end with the swing camera angles either. From what has been hinted at the official forum, we'll have options to come out of the TrueAim mode and switch to a downrange camera to follow the shot to its finish. I got the sense that the gamer will have an option of deciding when that camera shift occurs! This is something I've been jumping up and down for years for... I can't believe it's finally happening!
I simply don't understand their approach to the way they're rolling this out. You've got all these sexy new camera options; why are you showing us the game in the tired old dodgy presentation that suggests it's the same-ol' same-ol'!?

Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
I was as disappointed as you to see this pigpen81. Did you happen to watch the 3 1/2 minute video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... mLGDDjspwU) of Tiger testing the new Kinect interface at in Tiburon's studios? Look closely at Tiger's facial expressions (eyes cutting to the side, squinting) and body language (arms folded and fists balled up in an almost angry defensive postjure) in the first 30 seconds... he's not pleased with it either. The devs are obvioulsy picking up on his reaction and are feverishly trying to appease him with the explanation as to why it has to be this way. I'd love to see how that body language chick that appears on Bill OReilly's show occasionally would break this down... I'm sure she'd see more in it than mepigpen81 wrote:Have to turn your body to face the TV instead of swinging side to target. Hmmmmm.....no go for me.

I did read where EA Sports was actually doing captures of willing Otronicon Conference goers a few weeks back in Orlando, with the Kinect picking up their Tiger Woods 13 golf swings with the hip facing the Kinect rather than the chest. The attendee who witnessed this said they were using some new Kinect technology to accomplish this. Who knows, maybe EA Sports saw how strongly Tiger bucked at this face-on approach, and what was seen at Otronicon was a scrambing reaction to it? I hope so!
Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
I honestly don't know why there is so much hubub about the squared up stance. I'm guessing you pretty much have to do it this way for the Kinect to "see" you swing arc. There is nothing like to Move that the camera can simply follow. I'm guessing it's the only way the Kinect can work for a golf swing. If there is another way to do it great. I'm happy with what I have seen so far.

I know, D, I don't get it, either. Sounds a trifling superficial and nitpicky to me. I watched that video before, and all I can say is that the reading of TW's reactions are subjective at best. Hell if the have a top down FP view, I'd say that takes care of the whining.

Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
I can't gauge at this point whether the Kinect interface is going to work for me in Tiger Woods 12, whether I'm face-on or side-on. There's a lot of other variables that could make it or break it. I just won't know until I try it. Just standing in front of my HDTV and pretending that I'm swinging a club face-on and looking up at the screen afterward, and then comparing it to the sensation I get swinging the club side-on (as if I'm tying to hit the ball into the screen), I know I'd prefer to have it side-on as it just fits what my senses are doing better.Diablo25 wrote:I honestly don't know why there is so much hubub about the squared up stance. Even if the Kinect interface is a total flop, I know this game still has a chance of being the best in the series with the standard controller - by a long shot - because of what they've done with the "Total Swing Control", tempo based swing interface. It clearly calls more of the gamer's intuition into play.
Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
And no matter which way you're facing to hit the ball, let's face it. After a couple of rounds and the initial wow factor is over, you'll be missing the old couch and beer combo and start playing the game with the controller.

Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
The issue for me won't be the playing with the swing. It's everything else the navigation and controls. I haven't played a Kinnect game yet where the point or voice control navigation wasn't painfully slow compared to a controller. I imagine that is what will make me stop using it and go back to a controller.10spro wrote:And no matter which way you're facing to hit the ball, let's face it. Yeah, I'll be using the Kinect functions as a change of pace, not as the main way to play. Kinect sports golf wears me out after 9 holes as it is...

Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
I really think they need to revisit the tour/career mode. Without know what they have done, it's grown stale. Because once you get enough attributes the tour mode is nothing more than playing 4 rounds of golf over and over again.
Just steal a page from NBA 2k and try to get legends and legendary courses with old clubs.
It would be a great to play as Watson, Nicklaus, Trevino, Player and Palmer. Then bring back the 30s 40s players.
They essentially secured all the major courses that people want to play. They could offer historical courses which would be a neat touch.
I don't think a career mode is the way to go any more. I also think they same old level up strategy and the Tiger "challenge", for me, makes the game repetitive.

Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
Gotta agree on the career mode. It does get real stale.
Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
They haven't come out and said anything about re-doing the Career mode, other than to say they can't discuss anything about it yet. They are introducing this new Legacy mode, which I'm guessing will allow you to replay various scenarios throughout Tiger's career. I think we've seen something like that already, so I don't know what groundbreaking developments are in this feature that would warrant its own "Preview Feature" (is it the one scheduled for this coming week anyone?).JRod wrote:I really think they need to revisit the tour/career mode. On one hand, I suspect that more of the attention would be given to the Legacy mode than the Career mode, and we won't see that much different in career mode as a result. It really wouldn't take a whole lot to spice up the career mode though. I wish they would allow you to play with the closest licensed pro in the game to where you are in the tournament field, as an option. Maybe even just play with the shot tracers of who you'd be playing with, just like when you're playing simultaneous play in online multiplayer. I know everyone doesn't want to play with a CPU player, shot after shot, hole after hole, therefore I would want it to be an option. I would also want to have the option of fast-forwarding or skipping the CPU player's shots at my discretion.
They've surprised us in more than one area with the radical changes to this year's game, who knows, maybe they'll surprise us in career mode as well?
Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
I suppose they could re-do Tiger's career like Jordan's. His amateur wins at Sawgrass. The runaway Master's win. Going for the slam etc. I'm not a fan of Tiger so personally it doesn't interest me but I can see how this would be like the Jordan mode in NBA 2k.
Again, I have no idea what they'll do so we'll see.

Re: Tiger Woods 13 PGA TOUR and CE Info
This isn't what I'd call Career mode, but it's sort of a blend of career mode & Live Tournaments based on a few clues and hints:
I noticed this "tip" screen being displayed during a load in the video at GiantBomb.com:
"To manage your team or create a Custom Club Live Tournament, visit the EA Sports Country Club website."
As I'd suspected, we are going to get to have custom live tournaments using the as yet undisclosed (in detail) Online Country Club feature. What I wasn't expecting was what the second part of that tip said - "visit the EA Sports Country Club website". It sounds like we're going to get to manage and monitor our console tournaments via a website that we'll access with our computers.
From the sound of it, we'll be able to create some customizable tournaments and competitions within the context of ones own "Online Country Club". It would be great to be in an online tournament that truly was real time, and one in which you could play with groups, if desired.
