Hasn't the game always had legendary goalies? Plays like it. :)

I can only assume Roenick will be in NHL 94 form.

After a couple of games I must say that the puck physics seemed improved resulting in more realistic goals. The puck just seems livelier. Collisions and hits are also more realistic but I don't want to see a C. Higgins hitting Z. Chara consistently and the big D-man going down like a sack of potatoes, especially #33. If that what they meant by 'Full contact Physics' then someone explain it to me in more detail because it just seemed the same as 11. With this version a minor bump to the AI player will seem to knock off his balance, and timing is everything, don't over-commit.

The gameplay seemed a tad slower, some players just had generic faces planted on their mugs (hope it's just for the demo) and some of the player attributes left my head scratching

Some nice added animations, had a goal waved off only to be reinstated after video review.

Commentary is boring, we need new guys in that booth.

Overall, the changes seem subtle to me, manual passing to me seemed a bit improved as I just hated it for 11.

Look forward to play some more tonight.

Manuel passing is the reason I ditched NHL 11 after two weeks...it just was too frustrating for me and I couldn'tplay online ranked games with it off.

+ A.I. is more aggressive and doesn't just let you skate in to their zone.
+ It's not as easy to get off a slap shot
+ There's a bit more oomph on the shots
+ The A.I. sets up their shots a lot better on the offensive zone. They definitely shoot more.
+ In the past, I could check the incoming A.I. skater in to the boards 9 times out of 10. It doesn't
appear to be the case any more.
+ Your teammates seem to get in to position better.

- Game needs an overall when it comes to presentation
- Game play feels like NHL 11.5 but is much improved....if that makes sense.
- Cut scenes happen too quickly which hurts the immersion.

Hopefully there will be a disparity between teams and what their game plan is. I'm optimistic that this game
has improved enough to be worthy of a purchase. Hope to play more later this evening and in the coming
days.

I'm right with you. Game does feel different but not dramatically...in a good way. I like the puck physics and the checking is toned down a bit. Only played 3-4 games but like what I saw. I messed with BAP also. Pretty cool stuff. Simming to next shift is damn nice.

After playing both versions, I'm surprised to say that I prefer the PS3 version. They look identical to me, and for me personally, the PS3 controller just feels better with this game. I feel as though my dekes are more responsive, along with the passing. The game itself feels faster too. Perhaps that has a lot to do with it. The menus seem snappier and the game play feels smoother. It totally took me by surprise after playing Madden on both consoles. I was a lot more impressed with the 360 version. This game, the nod goes to the PS3 right now.

With both games, it's fun to play against the CPU where they try and set up plays more so than in year's past.

It's definitely an improved 11 (11.5 like you said) and that's a good thing as the game really feels more.. should I say.. "organic".

I haven't played a hockey game since ESPN NHL eight years ago, so these controls are a lot to get my head around, especially passing with RT/R2. I cannot get a one-timer set up and executed for the life of me.

Glad to hear the PS3 version looks good since I'll probably won't renew my Live sub in October, and it might be fun to go online and get my ass beat by the experts a few times before I go back to playing the CPU.

Much like Fifa, you can tinker, and trade players to your hearts content with HUT. I can see myself spending a large chunk of this mode, finding the right chemistry for each line is key.

Overall the improvements are subtle. but enough for me to get 12. BAP seemed improved as well although I wasn't too crazy with the new camera following your progress on the ice, if anything it made me dizzy.

With a bit more time with the 360 version, the differences really aren't much different from the PS3 version. The PS3 version does feel a little looser, but the responsiveness and control feel very similar. Can't go wrong with either version. More than likely, it's more of a controller preference.

I always buy every game on the 360 unless it's ps3 exclusive.. I just like the controller that much better.

Some of the replays are a bit herky jerky and I'm thinking that's because it's a demo.

I do like that they have a bit more stats showing up during the game and I never thought I would use the stattracker, but I love looking at where I have been shooting the puck. :)

Can't wait to move up to AS to see if it has been toned down a bit since pro has always been too easy and AS too hard for me in versions past.

Yeah I checked that after a game and found all of my shots were on the left side of the net, so that will at least put a thought into my head to try to mix up my placement of shots on goal if I struggle scoring.

Yep same here, I just prefer the 360 controller so it will be the 360 version for me.

I'll have to give the 360 version some more time, as it would be fun to play online with some of you guys.

I really love the rebounds off the goalies this year, and thus far seem pretty realistic. I scored a nice goal off one yesterday, something that was extremely rare for me in NHL 11. The flow of the game also seems more fluid because there's not as many stoppages in play.

Replays are a bit choppy, but hopefully they're smoothed out in the retail version.

What's your GT on the 360?

I do like the rebounds in the demo, but in some cases there are a bit exaggerated. You won't see top goalies giving up rebounds more than a few feet especially with Thomas and Luongo but having said that, I did noticed a lot of more garbage goals so far. And on the topic of goalies, I see too much running into them without penalties being called. Maybe it's just the demo.

I think the dekeing has been toned down a notch, good to see lesser players losing their control as they try to pull a move or two.

So far as you posted, it feels more like a fine tuned up version of 11, with better AI (CPU is much smarter on D), puck physics, the exaggerated checks and dangles are toned down, especially the toe drag to make a defender stop that doesn't work anymore.

Personally, I would bump up the speed a notch when the game comes out and take it from there.

I LOVE the speed of the game on default in this demo.. :)

It has me itching to play more and more of the demo, so that's definitely a GOOD thing!

I've been playing on AS and I have to say, Rammer and EA have done one hell of a job. If you can't notice all the tweaks they have made to gameplay, I'm not sure what to tell you.

The game really feels like a complete hockey game now to me. There is just so much to love about this demo. I can't believe AS is finally a real experience for me, used to be Pro was too easy and AS too hard (as far as scoring goes) - but now I'm finding new ways to get that goal - and I've seen TONS of new goals this year.

The replays are jerky.. I'm hoping that's a demo thing and it's my only gripe.

I LOVE the new gametracker, love how the announcer now sounds like a real home announcer when he announces the who scored!

The crowd seems a bit more amped up.

To me, it seems like they really tweaked and reworked many things, especially the AI. When I play with the lead, I'm holding on for dear life, when the other team has a lead they are trying to protect, especially late in the game, they do whatever is necessary to get the puck out of their zone and regroup.

Damn I'm impressed!!!

Oh.. and goals are now believeable from myself and the CPU.

Definitely going to try ALL STAR after what you said Mizzou! I was a PRO guy on 11 but I am anxious to give ALL STAR a try after hearing your thoughts.
