Re: Is the 360 Dead?
I think the decrease in PC gaming and the increase of HD televisions will extend the lives of the PS3 and 360. There were quick and major leaps in graphical capabilities from when the PS2 launched and when the 360 launched. From the PS2 launch in 2000 until the 360 launch in 2005 there was a huge jump in the the quality of visuals and what cpu's could output on a coding level. PC gaming is what really pushed this technology. While PC gaming is still going to a certain extent there hasn't been that much of a jump in technology from 2005 until now. Sure, high-end pc's are capable of some pretty amazing visuals, it's just that they're not blowing the consoles out of the water anymore, particularly with HD televisions out there.
I see no immediate need to release a new console right now and think that the Move and Kinect are good ideas to potentially extend the life of this generation. They might be a little too high-priced but time will tell. The Kinect, and to a lesser extent PS Move, intrigue me but at $150 for the Kinect I will wait and see if it gets supported or goes the way of the Sega 32x.

I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

Sports gaming is definitely in a bit of a lull just because we don't have as many choices as we used to. But the sports games that are good are really f***in good, light years ahead of where we were a few years ago.
What's even better for non-sports is that the creativity behind the game has increased with the technology. Games like Mass Effect, Fallout, Bioshock, Red Dead Redemption, and Call of Duty have gotten mature in ways beyond more gore and bloodshed. Their storylines are far better than those in blockbuster bowel movements like Clash of the Titans and Transformers.
I also agree that the 360 is the better gaming platform by far, but I really prefer the PS3 hardware over the 360. It's just a much better quality piece of machinery. Even my older 40g PS3 is more solid than my 360 Elite.

I think the PS3 is better but not by a whole lot. Both consoles suck when it comes to reliability.Brando70 wrote: I also agree that the 360 is the better gaming platform by far, but I really prefer the PS3 hardware over the 360. 360 = RROD and E74
PS3 = YLoD and BR drive failures
Re: Is the 360 Dead?
Agree about all those games except CoD. MW2 had a ridiculously retarded storyline.Brando70 wrote:Sports gaming is definitely in a bit of a lull just because we don't have as many choices as we used to. Re: Is the 360 Dead?
I would of agreed with you to an extent, but the new 360 Slim is comparable to the PS3 in my mind. The thing is quiet, sleek and (knock on wood) has no over heating issues.Brando70 wrote:I also agree that the 360 is the better gaming platform by far, but I really prefer the PS3 hardware over the 360. Having replaced 3 360's and 2 PS3's though I would say from a quality stand point there is not much different. MS caught a lot of s*** which it deserved for it's crappy launch hardware but the PS3 had just as many problems and you didn't hear a lot about it, that was because no one was buying a PS3 pre-price cut.
I wouldn't be surprised in Sony wanted to be the first in the next gen with a PS4, the strategy worked for MS this generation and even with increased sales Sony is in such a hole it will never catch the 360.

Re: Is the 360 Dead?
I traded in my Wii and its games for a PS3 recently. I actually like it better than the 360. I had heard that the PS3 controller was not as good as that of the 360, but for me it is quite a bit better. I mainly play racing games, sports games, and shooters, and I am really liking the feel of the lower trigger buttons on the DS3 controller. I also am much better at aiming with the DS3 sticks then with the ones on the 360. Obviously the d-pad is much better with the DS3 for the games where the d-pad is preferred. Both the 360 and PS3 are great systems. Due to my preference for the PS3 controller, though, I will be getting multiplatform games on the PS3 from now on. One of the cool benefits of being late to the PS3 party is that I am getting some great exclusive titles for pretty cheap. I have bought God of War 3, Resistance 2, MGS4, Demon's Souls, etc. for under $30 each. One thing is for sure -- neither the 360 or the PS3 are in any danger of decline. This is a ridiculously good era for gamers.

I would rather watch paint dry than play baseball, lol. I am sure it is a great game for baseball fans, though.Rodster wrote:No mention of The Show?toonarmy wrote:I traded in my Wii and its games for a PS3 recently. I actually like it better than the 360. Guess I'm not, either. I'm with Toon: I'd rather put my balls in a vise than watch baseball.Rodster wrote:You're no Sports fan !

Re: Is the 360 Dead?
Baseball is so bad i fall a sleep at my kids games. Some people hate loud obnoxious parents but they do mask a good snore zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Re: Is the 360 Dead?
Likewise I would rather have a scalding hot Tim Horton's enema than watch the Northern Hillbilly League.
Thankfully we all have some good sports game choices for the sports we do like.

Re: Is the 360 Dead?
I don't know what it is but I just cannot get fired up for baseball anymore. Even when the Cardinals won it all in 2006, it meant nothing to me compared to 1982. Not sure why I feel that way though...just don't enjoy it anymore.
NHL training camps open in 3 weeks or so....I just cannot wait.

Actually, a scalding Timmy's enema doesn't sound so bad. After all, this is my current laptop wallpaper:Brando70 wrote:Likewise I would rather have a scalding hot Tim Horton's enema than watch the Northern Hillbilly League.

And it tastes even better North of the border.

Re: Is the 360 Dead?
I'm not into baseball as much as I used to be, but I like to turn it on and do crap around the house.
Re: Is the 360 Dead?
I tried that once or twice but then I decided I didn't like doing stuff around the house either..MizzouRah wrote:I'm not into baseball as much as I used to be, but I like to turn it on and do crap around the house.

So what we've learned is that baseball is dead to DSP.
