I did PM you earlier... at this point, would be willing to play tonight, but would have to start in about an hour.... otherwise let me know your availability before the deadline...
Sorry man, completely missed it.

I'm available tonight if something changes on your end. I'm available tomorrow from 6pm est through 11pm est. Same thing Wednesday.

If absolutely necessary I'll call off from work if you need to play during the day. j/k :)

No kidding. I was going to do some offline practice against the Titans, but I realized it would be more accurate to practice against the Eagles since half of their players are in Nashville now. :D
Funny you say that. When I saw that trade I thought eman hated the Eagles and would rather be the Titans.

I agree - one of my biggest grips is the inability to export franchise teams. At the very least we should have a practice mode within the franchise.

.
That really does suck. I would be playing with these new assholes the way I played with the last ones instead of just watching my alread not so hot play decay due to inactivity...Id rather play other stuff. Unlike Tiger, I can only play with one b*tch at a time.

Wednesday night seems best for me. Let's try to start a little earlier, maybe 9:30 EST, to allow for wiggle room in case of problems. Let me know if that works or if you would prefer another.

Jets open with a win over the visiting Browns 35-32 in a ridiculous, frustrating, but fun game that saw both teams commit a jaw-dropping six turnovers apiece. I couldn't tell you who outplayed who amid all the INT's, fumbles, centers that wouldn't snap the ball, and all-around B.S. :)

Thomas Jones with one of those patented Madden '10 runs:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

An amazing 66-yard TD strike from Brady Quinn:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

And then this unfortunate fumble that the Jets turned into 6... watch, Harris is clearly downed at one point, but the refs blow it:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Well, it definitely went both ways. Really liked the longer quarters!

McNabb, Westbrook Lead Titans to Win over Texans

The uniforms were new and the stadium was different, but Donovan McNabb and Brian Westrbook brought their old Philly magic to Nashville as the Titans defeated the Houston Texans, 38-35. McNabb threw four touchdown passes, two to Westbrook, while the Titans defense turned two fourth-quarter turnovers into ten points.

The Texans got on the board first thanks to a 36-yard screen pass from Rex Grossman--in for a temporarily injured Matt Schaub--to running back Steve Slaton. McNabb and Westbrook answered right back on the next drive:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Westbrook took a McNabb pass, broke two tackles, and turned the short pass into a 57-yard score to even the game at 7-7.

Houston fired back with a 15-play, 75-yard drive that culminated in a 20-yard touchdown pass from Schaub to Andre Johnson. Tennessee again matched the score, moving quickly down the field to make it 14-14 on a pass from McNabb to fullback Ahmad Hall. However, the game did not stay tied for long.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Texans kick returner Brian Weatherspoon broke a tackle and eluded tacklers to take the kickoff 102 yards for a score and a 21-14 Houston lead. Still, the Titans answered back, with McNabb throwing his third touchdown pass to Bo Scaife to make it 21-21 at the half.

The Texans defense held in the third quarter, while Steve Slaton gave Houston a 28-21 lead on a 26-yard touchdown run:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

McNabb and Westbrook tied the game again by turning another short pass into a big score:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

As he had all game, McNabb used his mobility to keep the aggressive Texans pass rush in check, setting up the screen to Westbrook, who again broke two tackles en route to a 42-yard score. Westbrook finished the game with three receptions for 116 yards.

The Titans finally gained the upper hand and took their first lead after Asante Samuel picked off Matt Schaub late in the fourth quarter, setting up a 47-yard field goal by Rob Bironas and a 31-28 Titans lead. Schaub led the Texans to midfield by the two-minute warning, and looked ready to at least get into field goal range, when the Titans defense struck again:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Linebacker Stephen Tulloch sacked Schaub and forced a fumble, which defensive tackle Jason Jones scooped up for a 42-yard score and a 38-28 lead. The Texans managed to drive again and score, but Schaub's 16-yard touchdown pass to Graham Gallon came as time expired, leaving no time for an onside kick.

McNabb finished the day 11 for 19 for 236 yards, with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Running back Chris Johnson rushed 16 times for 72 yards, gaining an impressive six yards per carry but failing to break a big play. Houston's Steve Slaton had 147 combined yards to go with his two scores.

The Texans host the New York Giants while the Titans travel to Cleveland to face the Browns in week 2.

Great game, Todd. As if CJ wasn't enough, trying to account for him and Westbrook was too much. Looking forward to the rematch.

Brando, indeed good game and great write up as always. . .

I certainly thought you had the machinations of a victory brewing last night, but the fumble must have been a solid kick to the gut there. . .

I think moving the quarters out to 12 really changes things for the better. . .I certainly look forward to many more epic battles this season. . .

It sure does change things. Instead of losing close games at the end I will be safely far behind at the final gun. :)

Yup, 12 with 20 runoff is the way to go. You get into a feel for the game and can adjust. Last season it was pedal-to-the-metal all the time, because you didn't have much time to rebound from a mistake or allow a score or two before the game was over.

Now you can slowly bleed a team to death

Love the increase to 12-minute quarters. There's a much better ebb and flow to the game. The 15-play drive I had last night lasted about 7 minutes, and it was nice to not have that take nearly a quarter of the game. If the running game doesn't initially succeed, you can still stick to it for a while instead of having to shift to pass mode.

Washington Redskins 38 - Minnesota Vikings 28

In a game that was dominated by star running backs Clinton Portis and Adrian Peterson, the Washington Redskins opened the DSPFL season with a 38-28 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Portis led the Skins with 160 yds on 17 carries, averaging 9.4 yds per carry, while for the Vikings, Peterson ran for 121 yds on 16 carries, a 7.5 yd per carry average in a losing effort.

Portis set the tone on his first run of the game, the first play from scrimmage in fact; a 71 yard run to the Vikings' 9 yard line (the replay was only of the end of the run). On the next play, Jason Campbell scrambled out of the pocket and ran it in for the score and the quick 7-0 lead, a lead the Skins would never relinquish.

The rust was showing for the Favre-less Vikings as Tavaris Jackson committed two first-half interceptions that allowed Washington to dominate the half. The first came on the Vikings' first possession of the game and snuffed out what could have been a game-tying scoring drive. After the quick Redskins opening score, the Vikings quickly moved down to the Redskins' 27 in impressive fashion behind big runs from Peterson. But Tavaris Jackson threw a 2nd down pass into a crowded middle and was picked off by U of Miami product Rocky McIntosh.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Rocky McIntosh with the first of two Redskins interceptions of Tavaris Jackson in the first half.

After the turnover, Jason Campbell then took his offense on a bruising, 15-play, 7:41 drive that was capped by a 1yd TD plunge from the Caveman Mike Sellers, all 279 lbs of him. The Vikings responded again with a confident drive of their own, and this time they scored thanks to Peterson. Peterson took a toss to the right side from the 36 yd line and after juking Carlos Rogers, scampered in for the score ("replays not available for this quarter") to cut the lead to 14-7.

Inside the two minute warning, the Redskins punted and pinned the Vikings at their own 10. Looking to tie the score before halftime, the Vikings came out aggressively, but then things began to unravel as Tavaris Jackson was intercepted for the 2nd time, this time by 2nd year CB Barnes. Campbell and Co. wasted no time converting the turnover into points, as (an un-tackleable) a determined Clinton Portis took a short pass and ran it in for the 34yd TD extending the Skins lead to 21-7.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Clinton Portis got into the scoring act with this 34 yd TD reception-cum-Houdini act from Jason Campbell

The second half was statistically dominated by the Vikings, who ended the day outgaining the Skins 386-322, but a scoreless 3rd quarter proved to erode too much time away for the Vikings to engineer the comeback. Early in the 4th quarter, Campbell capped another long drive with a 12 yd TD pass Chris Cooley, his only catch of the game.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Chris Cooley jets ahead to snag this 12 yd TD pass from Jason Campbell and extend the Redskins lead to 28-7.

With the score 28-7, the Skins went into prevent mode, trying to keep the Vikings from scoring quickly. And while Minnesota did score, in fact they put up 21 4th quarter points, it just wasn't enough to overcome the Redskins' lead. With time getting shorter and shorter for the Vikings, Jackson-to-Peterson cut the lead to 14 with this scoring pass:

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
Adrian Peterson with his 2nd TD of the game on this pass to the flat from Jackson.

But with the score now 28-14, and belief beginning to rekindle for the visitors, Antwan Randle El dashed all hope for Minnesota as he ran the ensuing kickoff 103 yds for the TD to put the game pretty much out of reach.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>
A.R.E. breaks a few tackles and converts this 103 yd kickoff return for the TD to make the score 35-14 with 6:30 to go in the game.

Former Redskins QB Sage Rosenfels came on after Tavaris Jackson was injured on a hit from Brian Orakpo deep in Redskin territory, and he tossed a 3yd TD pass to cut the lead to 14 points again, but an unsuccessful onside kick allowed the Redskins to extend the lead to 17 with a Sean Suisham FG at the two minute warning. A late TD from Rosenfels to Reynaud on the next possession wasn't enough help the Vikings avoid the season-opening loss.

Minnesota now returns home to face the CPU Patriots, while Washington heads to Dallas for their first division game of the season against the 1-0 Cowboys.

Great game, Badger. The turnovers were key, as always, as were the potential INTs that your guys dropped in that first half. After seeing the first half numbers, I could hardly believe you outgained me for the game! But I was just trying to keep everything in front of me to keep you from scoring quickly, so I didn't mind a few first downs. From looking at the other games and now having played one, it does appear that this season this will be a 'defense optional' league, at least early on. Now get that roster sorted out! I have to remember to re-number my new players, too. Good luck the rest of the way.

FYI to everyone

I also want to point out I am not waiting to sim games this year if someone is online playing at the deadline. That's not me saying I will be on exactly at 11pm CT to advance the week, but last season a lot of times I would come on to advance and someone would be in the middle of a game, I would always wait due to the tight schedule.

This season we have a 5 day sim cycle and If you can't bet bothered to play your game in 5 days and wait to the 11th hour it's on you if you miss the sim.

Great game Zep. Had a lot of fun even though the outcome was what it was. The turnovers killed me. Perhaps I needed to play a game or two during the layoff. Good luck the rest of the way.

Oh, and I think we need to increase the drug testing for the Redskins. There has to be something in the water over there. They were maniacs breaking tackles left and right.

Broken tackles are the worst part of this game.

Hit the left trigger to strafe before tackling, even if you don't actually strafe the game registers it and you tackle a bit better.

I'm disappointed patch 2 didn't address this but the Madden team could give two shits apparently.

The Bears saw an immediate return from their off-season personnel moves, as they whipped the Packers 35-13 on the not yet frozen tundra. Rookie DE Joseph Rugg led the way with 4 first half sacks and WR Kileon Griggs caught 7 balls for 96yds and a TD in their debuts. CB Jawan Williams also had 4 tackles and 3 passes defended in a sterling effort by the revamped Bears defense. The defensive performance was particularly good considering the fact that they had to respond to 3 turnovers by the offense that put them on the back foot several times.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Joseph Rugg muggs Aaron Rodgers for one of his 4 sacks.

Jay Cutler had an efficient day, posting solid numbers of 23/27 for 283yds and 3TDs. He was clearly happy with the arrival of the 6'3" Griggs, who gives him a physical wideout that the team was clearly lacking.
<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Cutler hits Riggs for the WR's first NFL TD.

Devin Hester was contained on special teams, but made a spectacular TD catch.

<embed src="http://cdn.www.easports.com/static/110. ... player.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="640" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="height=360&width=640&file=http://cdn.content.easports.com/media2/ ... ="></embed>

Hester demonstrates ridiculous acrobatic skill.

The Bears absolutely stuffed the hosts in the first half, holding them to 28 total yards and scoring 28 points before the intermission. The game was essentially over at that point. But for 3 fumbles (Forte, Smith & Walsh), the score would've been much more lop-sided. The Packers gave up the run early and the Bears made them pay for their lack of balance.
