Well it's good to know that a D. Brashear can't deke and accelerate like a S. Crosby. I like what the hardcore mode will offer, just hoping the demo comes really soon.

Hardcore mode sounds like a good idea and I'm looking forward to trying it.

Some decisions strike me as a little counter-intuitive though, such as forced precision passing. That makes it harder for the player to control to play, but not in the name of realism. Wouldn't that also neuter player passing ratings, when the whole mantra of the mode is greater differences between the players? Hardcore mode or not, I don't think simple passes between two good NHL players should be a test of joystick skills.

Based on both reviews it looks like i'll stick with '09. It doesn't sound like $60 is worth the slight upgrade.

I'm reading over at OS that slider tweaks are a necessity given the CPU's inability on offense. That along with their tape to tape passing makes me a little aprehensive about picking this title. I may actually wait for the first patch. At this point, I'm more looking forward to the NBA titles.

Well simply because I'm a hockey guy and I can't wait for a new Ice Dragon season, I just picked this up at my local Target. Looking forward to the drop of the puck with you boys tonight.

One thing I discovered last night to my great disappointment is that the Russian league is no longer in the game. So those who were sick of wearing the big aspirin on their chest can rest assured that we won't have that uni anymore.

I created my pro and jumped online for one OTP gale with ransoms, and yea it was fun. Itfelt weightier, like there's a bit more mmentum to the players somehow, and the passing was a great mix of assisted precision bt with the ability to kick one off the boards or shovel one into the corner. I had a few bad passes, too, which was nice.

And you are using default passing?

Im pumped too...but I will have to climb some obstacles to get to the ice.

1)Leave work early to pick up my father at airport.
2)Take him to eat.
3)Visit sister in hospital
4)Pick up the game.
5)have dinner and spend time with neglected her.

Yes, I had everything at default except the camera and player icons and such. I couldn't figure out how to turn off the annoying arrows, though. There has to be a way but I couldn't find it ether in game or from the main menu.

I don't yet understand what settings you can adjust for OTP in terms of passing control or 'hardcore' or what not. I imagine for private games with our OTP characters we could adjust more than for the ranked OTP games.

One thing I thought was interesting was that among the roster downloads, there is also a settings download, and you have some kind of global slider settings toggle that includes 'latest settings' or something. So I wonder what kinds of tweaks and adjustments they could make to the gameplay with that.

The biggest reason I'm bummed that the Kontinental League or whatever they call it now is no longer in the game is that they now let you play season mode with any league, including the Euro leagues. Major downer then that the Russian league is out.

I thought that 'Hardcore mode' was not included for OTP. Great news if it is.

Picked up my copy of NHL 10 this morning! After completing a BAP season, and two dynasty seasons on NHL 09...I played every game I might add....this was just a no brainer for me. I don't think i've ever missed a release day purchase of the NHL series except for NHL 2003....I went with 2K that year. I remember waiting out the UPS truck at Babbages back in the day for NHLPA 93, NHL94 and NHL95 and I still get excited for this games release all these years later....No other game does this for me.

I know what they could to innovate. As an inclusion with the game, not a seperate game, COLLEGE HOCKEY! So your BAP could go through College and get drafted, play in the minors and get called up.
