Which is why i'll wait till it hits the proverbial $19.99 sweet spot which should take 6-12 months of waiting. Besides I have GTR2, rFactor, GP4, RBR, NR2003 and a few others to help me wait it out.pk500 wrote:Which, sadly, means it will be a commercial failure.DChaps wrote:Check out the article. It a shame that the difficulty may make it a commercial failure, but the huge plus for me is that if I race online I won't get taken out by some schmuck driving backwards with a huge penis painted on his car.
That why I loved online with Battlestations Midway. All the Halo-bred run and gunners couldn't understand why their ships kept sinking.

There has never been a console racing game I have looked forward to as much as Race Pro. The delays have been disappointing, but manageable since I know delays with this developer mean that the game is being improved and perfected. I recently noticed the release date has been pushed back yet again to April of this year. Race Pro may well be the only true racing simulation released for the 360. Games like Forza, DiRT, PGR, and GT are all fun in their own right, however they are not really what I would call simulations. I would classify those games as racers with sim elements, some better than others. Race Pro appears as if it will offer up the most realistic driving model to date on a console.

WoO is still one of the three best console racing games I've ever played, right there with TOCA 3 and Colin McRae Rally 2.0.fletcher21 wrote:Looking forward to this.. Now if only they could release World Of Outlaws for the 360, and have it play as nice as it did on the older consoles I'd be set.

Sounds like someone's throwing out a challenge, Grant.Gurantsu wrote:the huge plus for me is that if I race online I won't get taken out by some schmuck driving backwards with a huge penis painted on his car.
Race Pro has been delayed here too, but only until February 20th, so if Simbin are true to their word the demo should be on the Marketplace, in Europe at least, fairly soon. It's been a while since I've found myself checking the Marketplace every night just in case a demo has been released on the quiet, so I must be quite looking forward to this one.

Good call, Paul.. You can't beat that Cmr2 "online" challenge we had at SR back in the day.. Online "racing" without the head to head aspect. Good times.pk500 wrote:WoO is still one of the three best console racing games I've ever played, right there with TOCA 3 and Colin McRae Rally 2.0.fletcher21 wrote:Looking forward to this.. Haha! Looked over the achievements list. I wouldn't expect anything different from SimBin. It looks as if it will take a lot of dedication to get all 1000 points. There is a decent emphasis on online play. I sold my 360 but re-purchased it this past fall for this game and Gears 2. I surely hope the February release date is correct and the EBGames date of April is wrong. Race Pro should be epic.
From www.VirtualR.net
Atari has issued a new release date for Simbin’s upcoming RACE Pro simulation for Xbox 360. Simbin’s first ever Console title has been pushed back for one week and is now announced to hit the shelves on February 20th.
You won’t have to wait this long to get a first taste of Simbin’s new Lizard engine though as the Xbox website reports that the RACE Pro demo is due to be released very soon. So keep an eye on Xbox Live where the RACE Pro demo will shortly be available for download.
Eurogamer just posted their review. 8/10
"On the track, you'll see just how important these features are. Racing as a professional shows off the phenomenal physics and handling, but will leave most fair-weather racers seething with frustration. You need to not only understand advanced racing concepts but take advantage of them, usually at horrifying speeds. Each car, from the aforementioned Mini through to various Caterham models, Audis, Viper Coupes and Formula BMWs handles noticeably differently from the moment you take the wheel. The pull of inertia as you hit the apex of a turn, the sudden thrust of forward momentum as you slipstream an opponent - these subtle feelings are conveyed effectively and economically, and feel so natural that performance improvements become instinctive rather than cerebral. The challenge ultimately comes not only in mastering each track, but tailoring your approach depending on the car; a familiar corner can be your undoing if you're in an unfamiliar ride."
