Gotta say I disagree. Regardless of the swing animation, there is still touch needed to be decent at putting.

Completely agree.

Hmmm, at 1920x1200 with 16X AA/AF, I can't say I agree as I also have 07 running at the same resolution and settings and 08 blows 07 out of the water. To me, that is about the only improvement in 08 over previous versions....

I'm getting it for the Wii this year since I still have 08's version for the 360. Wish Microsoft would hurry up and come out with their rumoured version of the wiimote so we could have the best of both worlds on one console with one to one remote swinging and hd graphics.

My bad I should have explained it better. The golfers clothing had no textures. They looked like they walked out of the dry cleaners. I don't recall previous versions having that problem.

Also didn't TW08 (PC) have messed up putting animations just like the 360? :?:

My biggest problem with the new putting system is that you almost have to guess how hard you hit it. And I do know where Jack is coming from. In TW2003-2004 you could lightly move the mouse for a tap in or a short range putt and the animation followed your movement with the mouse. In other words it felt natural to make putts on the green.

With games on the PS360 it's not the same because the animations don't match how soft or hard you want to hit the ball. Another problem with the putting system is that if you let the game calculate the distance of the putt your screwed because most of the time I found out it was wrong.

If EA can put back the putting system from TW03-04 it would make the game even better. Anyways this year I plan on getting the Wii version as i've been reading EA nailed the Nintendo controller.

It's just such a basic mechanic, it's unbelievable that they let it go out that way. Lets hope it's fixed in '09.

I am still playing '06 on the PC and love it.

The difficulty is good as the third level really challenges you. The animations are good and the putting, IMO, is perfect. The only thing that lacks is the chipping.

There is still a good community for courses to download also.

I play Tiger 08 on the PC just for the Clambakers Tour. I can't play offline because I get these huge wait times after a shot has been hit. I don't get it when I'm in LAN mode.

There is a workaround for that posted on the EA Tiger PC forums....

http://forums.ea.com/mboards/thread.jsp ... 0&tstart=0
Go to C:\Users\Your Username\Documents\Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08\Career\Players\Your Players Name\Confidence, delete the "HoleType.tcn file".

Restart the game (it will create a new "HoleType.tcn" file in the same location in your My Documents Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 08 folder). Play one hole, in a non-season event, then exit the game.

Repeat the initial step above, but do not delete the "HoleType.tcn" file. Instead, right-click on it, select Properties, then click the box "Read Only" and then play the game and your slowdowns should disappear.

Hmmm, demo was on the easy side for me. Birdied the first two holes, and settled for par on the last one. Visually is pretty much like last years' version, I still prefer the 3 click swing as I found it a bit more accurate than the LS. There's an option to tune your clubs if you're a slicer or tend to hook the ball, and H. Haney will walk with you over the shots that you had some difficulty with for the first three holes.

It is designed that way, unfortunately as they have continued the practice of releasing a demo that has "Default" difficulty and only 3 holes. While it gives you somewhat of a taste of the full version, it is certainly not a barometer that I would use to make a buying decision. I would not blame anyone for NOT buying the game because of how limited the demo is....

I felt the exact same way about the Madden demo.

Well, with 09 not coming for PC... I picked up 08 for $9.99 at EB.

Also, 06 was there for $3.99. Grabbed it.

What kind of rig do you need to play 08? I have a IBM ThinkCentre that's about 5 years old.

I would trade all of those courses for the money to license the Masters at Augusta. Especially St. Andrews. It's a classic course, with a rich history, and I love to watch the matches played there...I just dont think it translates into video game golf that well. Kind of a boring course.

But to be able to play Amen Corner? Oh, yeah...

Stupid is what it is. It's advertising, for cripe's sake. You'd think even a bunch of elitist pricks would know the value of a good advertisement.

Divot are these courses for the Wii version as well? Have you had a chance to see or play the game? Let us know if the putting system has been fixed for '09.

I have heard the Wii comes with 20 courses. I have not gotten a copy of any version yet, so I can't comment on putting or anything yet. All I have seen is the 360 demo and lets just say I was underwhelmed as I typically am with a Tiger demo.....
