I might be around tonight Web, I'll keep an eye out.webdanzer wrote:Anyone going to be online with this tonight? I'd really like to try this mode out before bringing the game back. I'm actually enjoying single player a lot more now that I've got my A license and have opened up faster cars and faster competition. My 'samey' obervations still remain, but theres an added level of adrenaline now that makes it quite addictive.

Yeah, that's cool. The other day I was racing and went a TOTALLY different direction that everyone else. For most of the race I was in 6th place, not making up any ground, not seeing anyone else. Then I come to an intersection, powerslid around it, and right in front of the pack, just 200 or so yards from the finish. It was great...

I've spent 11.5 hours on the game in one rental period, which is a ridiculous amount of time for me. I did get some online play in with it, and I can certainly see how Freeburn with folks you know and who actually set up challenges could be a lot of fun. I still prefer the races, though, and I found some 'laps around the city' events last night online as well. Leadfoot also joined in to wreck me a few times. Thanks, Lead!
Gotta say that the game grew on me, and I probably will pick it up at some point.

So I just got my 'A' license, and some SWEET rides. I love that every time you succeed at a burning lap, you get a souped up version of the car you won it in. This thing just keeps on giving, and the deeper I get, the more I like it...

I just got my Burnout level license last night, and towards the end the 'drive to a new race' thing started to get slightly annoying, as I started to have to drive for a while to find the incomplete ones. To get your Elite license you have to beat everything, and there I can really see the lack of a restart becoming an issue.
Such an odd decision to leave that out.

I'm hoping for an update with a restart option soon, as I have started seeing how inconvenient it is when I fail a 'burning route'...I'd also like to see a waypoint arrow, but that's probably not in the cards.webdanzer wrote:I just got my Burnout level license last night, and towards the end the 'drive to a new race' thing started to get slightly annoying, as I started to have to drive for a while to find the incomplete ones. Still friggin' love the game, though...

Hey Teal....I just rented this and can see why you like it so much. Any pointers on how to proceed with this game would be appreciated. I always have that feeling of "OK, so what now? How do you get the "burning routes"? I have just been pulling up to lights and triggering races.
Some questions (forgive me, I have no manual- its a rental)
-How do you decide which car to use?
-Do you have to return to the junkyard to change cars?
-Is there a best way to go thru the game? I feel kinda lost.
-Is there a way to change difficulty levels? So far I am winning every race I enter. It is too easy at this point.

I've got this game on a rental too and it's pretty fun. Problem is I'm so wrapped up in Lost Odyssey and finishing Mass Effect before that, that I haven't put much time into it since that first day. I can answer one of your questions Jack. You do have to go to the junkyard to change cars.
I like the driving around concept but wish they handled it more like Test Drive where you can set a point on your map and get directions. Is there a way to just jump into races without having to drive to them? I never notice the races when I get in their area.

I am a patient boy.

I hate to agree with you, but you sir, are correct.dbdynsty25 wrote:The game was cool for about 4 hours. Then it just got monotonous and boring.
After I went online and got a few achievements, I hadn't picked it up in more than a month and I still find myself from time to time going back to Burnout Revenge to get that BO feeling again.

Kind of a bump, here. I'm tempted to take a look at this again now for $20 if the expansions added gameplay content. Were the expansions ultimately 'flash,' or did some add some gameplay meat?jLp vAkEr0 wrote:So how did Burnout end up after all it's updates?
I'm tempted to get this game on the cheap. Having some Burnout jones all of the sudden after not owning the last couple of titles.
Expansions are awesome. Motorcycles are great fun - in fact, I pretty much abandoned cars for them, though I might go back now that I have 101% of the motorcycle goals. Throw in dynamic weather (fog can be a pain at high speeds), day/night cycles and the new challenges and I would say they've done the best job with free content I can remember.
...and there's more coming this year-new cars, a whole new island, new party mode...I've never seen this level of dedication to a console title. It's great!EZSnappin wrote:Expansions are awesome. I think the new cars, island and party mode are not going to be free. Teal the main reason for so much support for Burnout Paradise was an experiment by EA. They wanted to see if they could slow down game trades to stores like Gamestop. They claim that's lost revenue when someone trades in their game shortly after release.
Why? Because someone will buy the rental over the new copy?Rodster wrote:I think the new cars, island and party mode are not going to be free.
