Check out what BC did. Matt Ryan threw for over 400 yards and had 5 TDs against the 2006 ACC Champs. BC's defense only gave up 14 points also.pigpen81 wrote:Oh no, not you again.Zlax45 wrote:How Boston College looked this weekend compared to these two teams, I would consider them a pretty strong contender in the Atlantic Division.dbdynsty25 wrote:That was a horrible call at the end of the game. Dude caught the ball, got one foot in, then stepped out, then got hit and fumbled. Ball should have been out of bounds and the clock stopped with 2 seconds left. Not quite sure how they could call that incomplete. But hey, FSU lost so who am I to argue.

And it was the first game of the season, too. I guess Michigan is going to go 0-11 since it lost to Division I-AA Appalachian State and the rest of its schedule is against I-A competition.Zlax45 wrote:Check out what BC did. Seriously, Wake Forest only has five of 11 starters back from last year on defense. Three of the four secondary guys are gone. And that 2006 secondary intercepted 22 passes -- No. 2 in the nation. Any wonder why Ryan had a field day Saturday?
Plus Wake had unreal special teams and was sixth in the country in turnover margin. Wake had a perfect storm of success last year to sneak into the ACC title.
Take care,
PK

Guess you missed the rolling eyes of sarcasm ... But yes, there's no question Appy St. could trash Syracuse.dbdynsty25 wrote:Seeing as how Appy St. could probably beat over half of Div. 1A...I'd say it's a stretch to say UM would lose all their games. So you've got that going for you.
Anyone else psyched for LSU-Va. Tech this weekend? That should be a fun game to watch.

Claussen was picked to start today. With that O-line he might need surgery again soon.dbdynsty25 wrote:Now ND just needs to pick one of the three QBs. I am a firm believer of sticking with one guy and letting him take his lumps if the team is struggling. Cycling three QBs who have never played before is a recipe for disaster...case in point, Saturday. Pick one and go.

Wake played the classic no mistake offense with that great defense and special teams in 2006. They usually didn't beat themselves. Oddly enough, they had close victories over Duke and UNC. Their offense will have to carry their team which is normally a bad sign.Pk500 wrote:Seriously, Wake Forest only has five of 11 starters back from last year on defense. I realize this isn't college football, but Charlotte Independence H.S. had its 109 game streak come to an end Saturday night against Cincinatti Elder H.S. 41-34 in OT. The streak lasted exactly 7 years (9/1/00-9/1/07). Former Independence QBs include Chris Leak from Florida and Joe Cox at Geogia. Also 7 state titles in that stretch...

Ryan also threw for 400 yards last year against that Wake defense. I just think when you look at the ACC Atlantic division there really is no clear favorite. Clemson's QB really didn't impress me with his throwing, FSU O-Line is in shambles, NC State with TOB and boring Bible lost to UCF, Maryland will always play tough, and BC has issues with a new coaching staff but they looked fine this past weekend.pk500 wrote:And it was the first game of the season, too. During one of the ESPN/ABC broadcasts, the announcers were talking about the new feature under the game score on the TV screen that shows the number of time outs for each team. They said they got the idea from NCAA football from EA. It is odd that ESPN would take a feature from NCAA and use it, but that you still have to go to the pause menu in Madden to find out the same information. Weird.
There are some very interesting games coming up this week. I don't know what to think about Miami - Oklahoma. Obviously the Penn St - ND game has lost some luster, but my wife thinks that ND will pull the upset (and put $20 behind it in a straight up no points bet with me). And then there is Georgia and South Carolina.

Georgia / Carolina is always close and I don't think this year will be much different. There might be some more points scored than normal as I think both team's have a decent offense now. I do think it helped UGA that they played a quality team week one instead of a cupcake.

It's painfully obvious that Kirby Freeman isn't the answer to the Canes QB woes. He was horrible in the first half. Kyle Wright comes in...takes them on an 18 play drive for their only TD of the half. Hopefully the Freeman experiment is over. That guy is garbage. Just hope the Canes didn't fall too far behind to have a shot at this game. 21-10 at half...Oklahoma looks really good.
Yup - neither QB is the answer for turning the offense around, but Wright needs to start. I hoped that Coach Shannon had some secret reason for going with Freeman (other than trying to motivate Wright), but Freeman has flat out sucked.dbdynsty25 wrote:It's painfully obvious that Kirby Freeman isn't the answer to the Canes QB woes. Wright clearly ran the offense far better than Freeman during the long TD drive, but Nix's playcalling left a lot to be desired even when Wright was able to get the Canes into the endzone. WTF was with the 5-6 WR screens that resulted in dropped passes EVERY damn time? Calling on Wright to run the option to the short side of the field TWICE inside OUs 5 yard line was completely brain-dead and damn near killed the drive.
OU clearly had more talent on the field than the U today, but the bulls**t penalties and dumbass playcalling made the final score worse than it could have been. The Canes' defense and running game this year is better than what we saw today, just have to hope they bounce back next week and fine-tune things against FIU next week before A&M comes to town.
As for OU, they sure took care of business today, and might get a present later tonight if the Longhorns get upset by TCU. Texas looked vulnerable last week and TCU is definitely capable of pulling the early season upset.
Damn right, the Appy St. loss notwithstanding, this is the worst Michigan defense I have ever seen. How sick is it that the Irish are going to be looking FORWARD to playing against that D next week to help them score some points? Clausen might put up Colt Brennan-esque numbers against that defense next week.Sully wrote:There's 11 guys on the opposite side of the ball that Michigan fans should be more disgusted with...XXXIV wrote:This is a serious question. Does Chad Henne play for or against Michigan?
Gotta feel bad for Mike Hart, he's been playing well, but has no chance in hell at the Heisman this year.
I agree with that 100%...and believe me I am disgusted...but it doesnt change that Henne is playing like he has his head shoved up his ass...Sully wrote:There's 11 guys on the opposite side of the ball that Michigan fans should be more disgusted with...XXXIV wrote:This is a serious question. I feel bad for Hart as well...He and a couple others are the only ones playing well on the entire team.

Chin up, Michigan and ND fans: You could be a Syracuse fan. Midway through the second quarter at Iowa, the 'Cuse was down 28-0 with -10 yards total offense.
This comes on the heels of getting shellacked in the home opener last Friday night by Washington.
