DSP 360 WE League Sign-Up Thread (Congrats Jared and Monaco)

Sure. Sully, what type of team do you want? A Top Tier team (recommended if you play offline at default difficulty or lower) or a Second Tier team (recommended if you play offline at higher than default difficulty, what used to be 4-stars, 5-stars, or 6-stars).Sully wrote:Is there room for one more? I'm tempted to run out and pick this up, especially if I have a league to play in. If not, I can hold off until the next season.
What we'll do is go with four divisions, two with five teams and one with six. The DSPenultimate will be made up of people who were in the league last season, and some among those who have been involved in the past. Of those players (bubbaball, Leebo33, JackB1, fanatic, Danimal, snate, Naples, and Sully), only four will be in the DSPenultimate, selected by a random draw.
Another random selection will determine who of the remaining players are in Division Three and who are in Division Four.
And so we have:
- DSPremiership
RobVarak = 2nd
Slumberland = 2nd
JaredM = Blackburn Rovers F.C. (Lancashire)
CP Zeppo = AS Monaco F. C.
St Cloud = Feyenoord Rotterdam
XXXIV 34 = Bolton Wanderers F. C. (Middlebrook)
DSPenultimate
bubbaball (bphilipb) = Top
Leebo33 = Chelsea F.C. (London FC)
Blublub (cecilbturtle) = F. C. Barçenlona
nyisles16 = C. Atletico Madrid
fanatic (crucialmike00) = Top
Danimal66 = Manchester Utd. F. C.
Division Three
snatex = S. L. Benfica
lsdean = Arsenal F. C.
HOGZ TheTruth = Valencia C.F.
JackB1 = Real Madrid C. F.
dave2eleven = Top
Division Four
Sully OS = Top?
Naples39 = Sporting Clube de Portugal (Sporting Lisbon)
DrMacca = West Ham Utd. F. C. (East London)
ScoopBrady = Liverpool F.C. (Merseyside Red)
TCrouch = F.C. Internazionale Milano (Inter)
Also, we now have 14 players drawing from the 17 teams in the Top Tier, so I'm not sure exaclty what is happening if people reject teams twice (since they can't get either of those two teams in the third draw). Fact is, though, all the Top Tier teams are damn good. Maybe next season, I will push some of those asterisked teams from the Second Tier up into the Top Tier; they aren't quite as good, but aren't bad teams at all, and it might help put the 'random' back into 'random draw.' For now, we go with what we have.

What, no love? I've participated in one of the leagues before. It was before WE even had online play.Zeppo wrote:Of those players (bubbaball, Leebo33, JackB1, fanatic, Danimal, snate, Naples, and Sully), only four will be in the DSPenultimate, selected by a random draw.

I am a patient boy.
I wait, I wait, I wait, I wait.
My time is water down a drain.

No chance in this first season, especially with blublub's WC going on. We could do what we did in the last cup if you want; that is, build the brackets, do the draw, and not play any of the games.Jared wrote:Hey...are we also going to have a cup? Considering the # of teams, that might be a good idea (to get some interdivisional action going on).

Next season we'll try it. It would be really awesome with this many people, but I want to keep it simple at the start and concentrate on getting League games completed.
I know essentially nothing about Lisbon, but I'll give them a shot. I do like the continental, passing/possesion style of play more, so maybe a Portuguese team will suit me.
And ouch, all the way down to D4. Got a long ways to go to get near the top!! And with Macca in D4 too, I don't feel too good about getting the promotion spot. Oh well, great to see so many people participating.
Also, a cup competition with all these teams going across 4 leagues would be really cool!

I know, I know; after the randomizer came back, I thought about just cheating, but that wouldn't have been very fair. Random is random, and, well, that's what happened. Believe me, I was racking my brain to figure out the best way to break it up, and this is most fair thing I could conjure up.Naples39 wrote:I know essentially nothing about Lisbon, but I'll give them a shot. But hey, you've had a 360 for a while now and could have joined back up in the final Xbox season, which only had 2 divisions, and been good to go!

[EDIT: now that I'm thinking about it. . . more, maybe I should put the first-timers into Div IV, which would mean dean, Truth and dave, and then put Sully and Naples up into Div III plus one of the newbies randomly selected. Hmm. What to do?]
I would love to do a Cup, but it's just not a good idea for the first season back with this many people. Look at it this way; if we get all our games done on time without extending the deadline, we will be ready to start a Cup that much sooner.
I still need to hear from Jack, isles, Cloud, snate and lsdean before doing the second round of the draw. In Jack's case, I will just assume he will keep Real Madrid if he doesn't get back to us, considering what he is going through right now (I mean it is Real Madrid after all, and though he's always been Barçelona, I don't think he's going to have too much of a problem).

No, that's fine, this is killing me. I'd love to have one massive division, but good grief that would take forever! I don't want to have two eight-team divisions, which would mean a full seven games per half-season; a bit much I think. Plus, there's no reason we can't get ahead of schedule, HA! I mean, if all first-half games are complete before the first-half deadline, I'll just post the second-half schedule and we'll be on our way. I'm not holding my breath that that will happen, though.Naples39 wrote:No worries Zep. I didn't mean to come across as complaining.

Zeppo, I will keep Arsenal.Zeppo wrote: lsdean = Arsenal F. C.
Zep, that sounds completely reasonable--us newbies should have to climb from the lowest rungs of the league.Zeppo wrote:[EDIT: now that I'm thinking about it. . . more, maybe I should put the first-timers into Div IV, which would mean dean, Truth and dave, and then put Sully and Naples up into Div III plus one of the newbies randomly selected. OK. Skyboxer you are welcome to join. You will be in the bottom division, and from what Sully says, you will be in the draw for the Top Tier teams. The Top Tier really is becoming a shell game, and I hope we can make everyone relatively happy with their teams.
Plus ça change, . . . well, plus ça change. I have realigned the divisions yet again. Blublub and NYIsles are in the 2nd Division, and I did a new randomiztion among those who have participated in past seasons to determine the other 4 to fill out that division. The rest of those players make up the 3rd Division, as well as 2 randomly drawn among the newcomers to fill out that division. The 4th Division is made up of the remaining newcomers, including Skyboxer. Thus, we now have this:
Once again, I urge all new members to read the very first post of the Official DSP WE League thread, which should be on this first page. It explains all the rules and procedures of the league, as well as containing a link to Jason's SGN league module site, where you must create an account if you don't have one already.

No problem. I just build the framework, the members make the league.TheTruth wrote: By the way zepp, thanks for all the hard work.
I'm still waiting to hear from snate and Cloud before I do the 2nd round of team draws. If we don't hear from them by this evening Eastern time, we'll just go ahead and draw, and they can chime back in for the third and final random team draw if they don't want the teams they have now.
