The commercials will definitely focus on conveying the uniqueness of the controller, and I don't see any difficulty involved. Haven't you seen the movies of the people fishing, swordfighting, playing tennis, etc. with the thing? They have done a great job of featuring the controller's innovation.wco81 wrote: When they do commercials, they won't be able to convey the uniqueness of the Wii controller on TV that well. Wii officially $250 on Nov. 19

Yeah those trailers of people playing did definitely make people excited about the Wii.webdanzer wrote:The commercials will definitely focus on conveying the uniqueness of the controller, and I don't see any difficulty involved. But how much advertising can they do with that? Initially, to introduce the product, yes.
But most gaming commercials are related to specific games rather than the console. So by the time Zelda comes out in 2007, would they still show people doing gestures to swing the sword or shoot arrows? Or would they not show gameplay clips at all?
For games like Madden, I would guess they show clips from the X360 or PS3 version and then at the end, show a logo of the Wii.
Yeah, I think they will still show the gestures. Along with cutscenes and maybe a smidgen of actual gameplay. It's hard to get good gameplay coverage in most TV commercials anyway, that's why everyone does all those fake renders.wco81 wrote:So by the time Zelda comes out in 2007, would they still show people doing gestures to swing the sword or shoot arrows? Just a good summary post for people.
I was a must buy on this system until I realized I need to stick sensors and wires all around my TV. Somehow that never occured to me, that thing wouldn't last 2 minutes with my kids.

The only wire will be the one that runs from the base unit to the 'sensor bar' which goes around the tv and is very thin and unobtrusive. I don't think that should be anything to worry about.Danimal wrote:http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/15/the-o ... ever-need/

50 Bucks * let's say conservatively 2 million units before Xmas. Nintendo wasn't going to leave money on the table....And the consumer I believe will still see them as a bargain in comparison to the competition.

Pretty sure they're staying at 480p.
Some people have characterized it as similar chips to those in the GameCube but running at a higher clockspeed.

What part of the following post do you not understand?Feanor wrote: I don't wear panties, sorry. If you want to keep posting like a 12 year old Nintendo fanboy, go right ahead.
Evidently reading comprehension is not one of your strong suits. Maybe if you see it twice you might actually get the message....ScoopBrady wrote:Guys, take any personal riffs to PM's please.

Its still very attractive...10spro wrote:At $250 the Wii becomes less of an impulse buy for those that don't have a Next-Gen console yet, but if they launched it at $199, it would have been a different story, attracting even those that already have a 360.
The idea of a gamer being able to get a premium 360 and a Wii for $50 more than they would pay for a premium PS3 is attractive as well. Especially since most wont be able to get a PS3 til next year....

It was "all good" until you opened up your mouth trying to get a response on a subject that's been beaten to death. Stick to the topic, and don't obsess so much over me. I never give you a second thought.sportdan30 wrote:Just as lame of a response. It's all good.

Who's obsessing over you? I'm sure not. Sorry at my weak attempt at humor. Anyways, back on topic.Kazuya wrote:It was "all good" until you opened up your mouth trying to get a response on a subject that's been beaten to death. I'll probably wait a good month or so before determining whether or not to pick one up. My 4 year old son is starting to get interested in gaming, but not enough to warrant a new system if the games aren't enjoyable. Plus, I can see a price drop happening within the first 12 months.
My bad, that's why you need to put in smileys. With certain morons around here, it's hard to know when anyone's kidding or trying to troll.sportdan30 wrote:Who's obsessing over you? I'm sure not. I'm probably going to initially pass on the Wii, mostly because of the 360 game blitz that's going to hit me (Marvel Ultimate Alliance, Call of Duty 3, Gears of War, Rainbow Six and many others)... also, I've expressed my reservations about the 360 controller holding up for the long term and not being a gimmick. Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind and impulsively buy one.

I've been planning on going the "Wii60" route for some time now. Isn't a 360 price drop to $300 for the premium expected for this holiday season? I've kind of been planning on it...XXXIV wrote:Its still very attractive...10spro wrote:At $250 the Wii becomes less of an impulse buy for those that don't have a Next-Gen console yet, but if they launched it at $199, it would have been a different story, attracting even those that already have a 360.
