Madden 07 (Xbox 360) Thread

Maybe I saw a different video. I didn't see any 50-yard gains. Took about 10 plays to get into the end zone didn't it? Yes he was rushing a lot.
Not saying Young will be as game-breaking as Vick but a couple of years ago, Vick was tearing up the NFC South until he played against the Bucs, who were the only ones to really shut down his running. That means Vick ran through Carolina, which has pretty good DEs.

One of the good things about the passing cone was that it forced you to play more like a real QB by putting the focus on checking receivers. You couldn't run around like jackass and heave the ball for 30 yd. completions with ease.
Now that the passing cone is essentially gone, I think it's going to be easier for some of the chhesier QB tactics we always hated about Madden, especially with faster QBs.
Yet another reason I don't play randoms online anymore.

Yeah, quite frustrating, and if NHL flops I'll really be unhappy. For now, there are some great 360 games that have nothing to do with sports that still have me happy I purchased a 360... but I do eagerly wait for something substansual sports gaming wise.kevinpars wrote:I guess I can keep playing NCAA with its overdone momentum 'feature'.
I went next generation for this?
Now I know why Microsoft has changed its tune from "10 million sold before the PS3 comes out" to "first next gen console to 10 million sold."
Nothing like playing a sports game on next gen and seeing less features, aliasing, slowdowns and all of the shyte that i had hoped to see in the rear window when I bought the latest and greatest.

Sorry, meant to say 50 yds. a drive.wco81 wrote:Maybe I saw a different video. I didn't see any 50-yard gains. Took about 10 plays to get into the end zone didn't it? Yes he was rushing a lot.

So if you have 10 drives a game the QB will have 500 yds. a game.
If it's anything like NCAA after a while the CPU will always be in a spy coverage. And the spy might have a defender peal off coverage to help out. The "spy" AI is respectable in NCAA so I'm hopeful in Madden.laurenskye wrote:Sorry, meant to say 50 yds. a drive.wco81 wrote:Maybe I saw a different video. I didn't see any 50-yard gains. Not against me he won't.laurenskye wrote:Sorry, meant to say 50 yds. a drive.wco81 wrote:Maybe I saw a different video. I didn't see any 50-yard gains. Took about 10 plays to get into the end zone didn't it? Yes he was rushing a lot.

Madden NFL 2004 and Vick was probably the WORST game I've ever seen where the speedy QB had too much going for him. You learn to stop that style of play, lay some wood on the QB and knock his ass out.
Didn't NCAA have a bug last year or the year before where if you ran the RB option, the defense would back off unless you blitzed and it would be an automatic 10 yards because the defenders wouldn't converge until the RB crossed the LOS?
I don't doubt that the way it reads run/pass is busted. Typically, if a QB gets out of pocket, the LBs will close on him instead of waiting for him to cross the LOS. In Madden now, you can have defenders in zone coverage like cover 2 or cover3 out in the corners/flats and they will wait for the QB to cross the LOS. With a quick QB like Vick, that's too late.

The bitter pill to swallow is that I still have to play the game, since I need a football game. And if it's any better than NCAA, I'll be happy with offline play, since they can't seem to get their servers straight. The fatigue issue is a really obvious error on their part which they can hopefully fix with a patch, but I've been hoping for the PSP patch for NCAA and so far, no news.
Their old competition STILL looks better in presentation then they do in current gen and NexGen. Two years later. They had the ESPN license and used it! EA needs to turn around and do the same. The worse thing that ever happened to the Sports genre is the "exclusivity rights". Screw that and bring the competition back.
Does anyone have a link for the latest rosters for 2K5? Thanks!

For the second year in a row Madden 360 is a broken game. No fatigue no gang tackling and now shot gun blasts on bombs. This is very disappointing for those people hoping for a football simulation because there is no alternative new football game. Madden is not really new at all, it still has the same AI logic and animations from way back. Only the graphics are better but is this enough to justify spending $60.00 on Madden 2007 for XBOX 360?

I'm sure some of you won't care because it list some good things, but for the rest here you go:
The Good of Madden 2007, posted by Fred at MN
WEll with all the negativity surround 2 issues in this game I think it was time to talk about some positives that people seem to be forgetting. Seems like people are actually glad there are these problems in the game so they can b*tch and complain about EA.
Like I said in the other thread I think EA will actually fix this fatigue problem, and if they do this could be one of the better Madden's we've experienced. So let me list some of the good I've found in my two full days of playing.
-Gameplay. This is MUCH improved from last years 360 version. You now have full control of your players and don't feel helpless. I actually think the controls in this game are more polished than NCAA.
-Collision detection and suction blocking are better than last year. And they aren't nearly as bad as they are in NCAA.
-Animations. There are a ton of new ones and they are very realistic. I saw one today that I kept watching in instant replay where I tried to tackle Willis McGahee with Pacman Jones and Jones went low but his knees kind of buckled and it almost stood him up, then someone else came in and finished off the tackle as Jones fell down. Its hard for me to explain but it was damn cool.
-Small details. There are little things like the field getting worn, puddles of water collecting, and the dreadlocks players have. They actually flow and reminded me of NBA2k and how the uniforms moved when the players did. I was playing against the colts and Manning has his real voice and actually audibles a ton at the line.
-Stadiums look amazing and so does the crowd. It's 10X better than NCAA's crowd and when it does a close up the fans are distinct.
-Superstar Mode is pretty fun. I created myself and went through all the combine stuff and got drafted by the sea hawks. I like how you dont have full control of the team. It makes it realistic and I have to work to actually get the QB to throw to me.
-Run to daylight is cool. I dont know about using it online, but offline its awesome. I've been using this a lot off line and I think you will too. It's a nice change of pace.
-Mini games actually serve a purpose. These will help you become a better player. I'm not big on these types of extras in madden but I've been doing them a lot. You can do these online, but its not against other people. you do them yourself and it posts your score online.
-The new Live Player feature. Pasta and I were able to do an exhibition game with custom rosters. He had Randy Moss on the Seahawks and I had Carson Palmer on the Bears. How many times have we asked for custom rosters online? Now we have it.
-More defensive playmaker options than before. I posted all the different optionis we have in my impressions thread. You can find them all there.
Overall this game IS better than NCAA or Madden last year. I think the negativity in this game is a bit over done. IF EA patches this fatigue problem I will not have a problem with this game. I'm confident that they will.
i think general gameplay is the most improved. you just feel like you have control over everything now compared to last year. From the QB fumbles as he's getting hit, to the other things that everyone complained about. It all seems to be fixed. The running game is vastly improved as well.

That is very promising.
My only two beef's with the game right now (until I play it) are:
- Shotgun sound effect on deep passes (WTF are they thinking here?)
- Fatigue (it sucks, and I'm upset a little bit but I've been playing the current gen 05 online without fatigue all year so it's not new to me)

Gamefly makes this a cheap cheap game.TRI wrote:For the second year in a row Madden 360 is a broken game. No fatigue no gang tackling and now shot gun blasts on bombs. I haven't bought NCAA yet I received a brand new game. If I choose to buy NCAA, I can get it for a reduced price with substantial gameplay. Gamefly makes this possible. Plus with NCAA, I think I'm more satisfied with it because I didnt' shell out 60 for it.

I just saw this over at Madden Mania on the front page:
"I just got off the phone with Mike Johnson, Community Manager for EA Sports, and was informed that an update is in the works and will be out later on XBOX Live. He will have more information, but just wanted to let the community know that they heard your strong beliefs and wanted to fix the issue ASAP."
This is apparently in reference to the fatigue bug.
If that patch fixes the fatigue issue, then EA did the right thing and responded quickly to reports of the problem.

Since it sounds like a patch is in the works, allow me to ask a question:
Some of you know I live in an area without high speed internet access. If I were to take my Box over to someones house who has such access, could I get the update with the free Xbox live service or would I need to subscribe to the more expensive plan which unfortunately I cant really use.
Thanks in advance.

While it still bothered me, the more I thought about, the less it did bother me. The game would wind up being more arcadish without the fatigue, but football is football, and if the on-field gameplay is good, that's where 90% of the entertainment value is.XXXIV wrote:Not to sound blasphemous but lack of fatigue doesnt bother me...If its as much fun as NCAA07 Im getting it...Besides I dont have any other NFL game and that in itself is an all time first that needs correcting.
Glad to hear someone at EA acknowledged the problem. Hopefully it won't take forever to get a solution.
I am a silver member and get all the updates - that includes patches for College Hoops and MLB and Oblivion. So that is no concern. All you will need to do is take your 360 over to your friends house. If it works like previous patches, it will be an auto update at the time you load the game. Just make sure you or your friend have the Madden DVD to load up in the 360 once the patch is released.
Even though I am not an online gamer, Xbox Live has been great for me. I download patches, demos, arcade demos and then later arcade game purchases, etc. It is one of my favorite features of the 360 and one of the best features of the thing.
I am glad to hear they are patching this problem. While not exactly a showkiller, it is something important in football. Otherwise you can just run Randy Moss deep routes all game long and he will be just as fast and fresh as on the first one, or hand the ball off to L Johnson with no worries about risking injury or fumbles due to fatigue.
As for the other problem, it sounds like the classic players are added to your default roster. That is no big deal since I generally download one of the updated rosters from one of the roster makers and immediately start a dynasty, so it would be a non issue. If your current roster gets messed up, simply download a new one.
Still, it is not the sort of news i want to hear the week before release.
*EDIT* Speaking of which, it should be about time for the Madden demo which is supposed to be part of the "22 days of Madden" My guess is that it will be up by tomorrow lunchtime.
