The drop passes issue looks to not be there this year. So far I've only dropped passes if I've been hit by the defense trying to catch the ball.

My early take is that this is a vastly superior game to NCAA 06.

How does the Xbox version play this year? I know xbox's a port but the ps2 version at times feels too rigid this year. Looks wise, any graphical upgrade in this years xbox version?

Graphically, it's about the same as last year. It might look a little cleaner, but that could be my imagination.

But the game is improved in every way over 06. Animations look better, the game plays smooth as silk, and most all of the improvements added to the 360 version are in.

What's really cool is now when you want to move guys around before the snap, just hit Y and a little menu pops up on the right of the screen. Shade left, right etc, tight coverage, loose and it shows you exactly which button to push. The same holds true for audibles. Hit X. and a little menu comes up with all your available audibles. No more having memorize all the little control schemes. This is a huge improvement.

Gameplay is definitely improved over last year. The bomb still seems to get completed, but only if you're one on one and your guy gets beat. The animation is also believable now. You will no longer see a 40 yard bomb go through a defender's back and be caught by a receiver who is blanketed on both sides.

I've got the 360 version with complete rosters, and I'd still rather play the Xbox version, no question. The only advantage the 360 version has are the better graphics and better animations.

I played both versions this morning back to back and I absolutely will be playing my dynasty on the Xbox version. It is definitely the better playing version of this game. Control feels tighter, framerate and game speed seem so much smoother, and the dynasty has all the bells and whistles that we are used to. EA should be ashamed of themselves for stripping so much out of this game for the 360 version.

Graphics look a lil better but pretty much what you expect from the Xbox. I have like 1,000 words posted on the game on the blog and I don't feel like retyping it and to cut and paste would defeat the purpose. :)

I'll post sliders after I start playing the dynasty. The game is fun. Lotsa fun.

NCAA 306 is a first generation title. Well it's atleast a 1.5 generation title and it on the same level as the xbox version. It coudl have been madden deju vu. But we have too playable titles.

I don't know yet what's been stripped out of the 360 version that was of any importance. Maybe the spring game. Put nothing missing in the 360 version kills the game.

It's not on the same level of play as the Xbox version...not even close. As far as what's stripped out, what little presentation the Xbox version has, the 360 version doesn't have any of it. May be my imagination, but the dynasty just looks more robust and I'm not just talking spring game either. Trophy room, ESPN the Magazine, and other things that help immerse you in your dynasty are NOT in the 360 version. But let's forget about what they left out, the game just plays better on the Xbox...period.

That's interesting. I mentioned earlier that the Xbox had an average presentation and maybe EA was saving it for the 360, I guess not.

Was able to pick up a rental of the 360 version at Blockbuster. Can't wait to play it tonight. I'd say the majority of the folk over at OS is just raving about the the game! Good news to hear indeed.

The majority of the folk over at OS don't have an Xbox anymore. They have no choice but to rave about it.

I have the 360 version and I rented the PS2. The 360 version, although not as robust, is getting my playing time rather than the PS2. I would venture to guess that it's mostly because it's new. The PS2 version just feels old and stale...like the same game I've played for the past 5 years...which it is. That's not to say that I will tire of the 360 version, or find some flaws that make me go back to it. I'm sure it's a fabulous game...it's just stale to me by this point. I will pick it up for the PSP though...that's for damn sure.

Try this. Play a game on the 360 version. Then play a game on the PS2. Then ask yourself if the control feels more precise and the game runs smoother on your PS2. I know I noticed that immediately when going from 360 to Xbox and it was a big difference, too...nothing subtle about it.

I also don't think the game feels stale at all. Well maybe in the graphics department it does, but what about all the new audible and playmaker menus? I wish they had used the same scheme on the 360. You can do so much more in so little time before the snap on the Xbox version.

I wanted to like the 360 version, but it reminds me so much of Madden in the way the game feels floaty.

Be advised there is supposedly a bug where they do not spot the ball correctly in the PSP version. One guy said he had like 3rd and 1 and ran a good 4 yards past the 1st down marker and it said he had 4th and 1 again. Others have confirmed this. One guy said that it would be the best handheld sports game ever, without this bug.

I thought the game played smoother last year. Just feels a little rigid still on the ps2. Its probably the same for the xbox so I dont think I'll buy both versions.

Well I am not sure the deep pass is fixed. I am playing default AA, and am ND vs OSU. Ohio state went up big on me by half so I said what the heck, lets bomb it out. Well the next 3 plays, I scored 3 td's in a row using the same play with the WR on the left going long.

Still not feeling this game for some reason on ps2. I sort of agre with DB when he says it's feels like the same game I've been playing for the last 5 years.

The deep ball on default AA is a borderline money play. Heisman is the way to play this year. A very playable, not BS cheating level.

I had a chance to play a bit on the PS2 and a bit on the 360. To provide context, I thought NCAA 06 was the best football game EA ever produced- yes, the bomb was an issue, and yes there were a few other problems as well, but the combination of the fluidity of player control and the fact that the game really rewarded reading the field and identifying single coverage just made it a blast to play. That said, I was a bit underwhelmed with both '07s, albeit in different ways. As others have noted, the PS2 version managed to feel both a bit stale and more rigid than last year's game. I also didn't much care for the sudden cinematic zoom-ins (if you were looking for something to cut out of '06, it would have been those impact play moments). The graphics were fine, the play was generally fine, but it just wasn't as fluid as last year's game. As for the 360 version, it's less choppy than the demo, but there is still chop. The player models look great, some of the animations are really good, particularly the wide receivers blocking downfield, but again, it's lacking the fluidity of even the current gen version, much less something like NBA2K6. That said, I think it looks to have more promise than the current gen version. The interactions along the line and between DB and WR are done better, and the results of actions feel a bit more varied.

Most 360 owners would disagree. I love the 360 version. The game reminds me of...dare I say...a 2K football game.
