I use the camera a decent amount with Xbox Fitness and some with Skype. I Definitely use the voice features more with KINECT than the visual tracking. I agreed with most of what you said in your original post...except for the statement about no one wanting it. They should've went with the two options from the get go. They didn't, acknowledged the mistake and fixed it. MS has some serious momentum going right now. I'm not saying Sony execs are having trouble sleeping at night but they are definitely paying some serious attention to their rival. They are stupid if they aren't.Danimal wrote:I said a failure as a gaming Peripheral. Enlighten me, how often do you use the motion gestures? Do you use anything but the voice commands. I'm waiting for one person to tell me it uses outside of voice commands and a camera if you stream.

If you enjoy using Kinect that's great. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Ignore the 'kinect sucks' trolls.Diablo25 wrote:I use the camera a decent amount with Xbox Fitness and some with Skype. But I like what they're doing. They need to keep the foot on the pedal and make sony do something.

with an 8 and 4 year old in the home, Kinect is a must for us. Just Dance and Kinect Sports games get a ton of play.

I still think as a gaming device the Kinect is a failure, I really see no evidence to support any other conclusion. Next up will be visual VR gear, it will be interesting to see how that goes with both consoles. I one of these at a show (forgot if it was Oculus or the other one) and while it was cool I felt dizzy after using it for maybe 5-10 minutes.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
The great thing in terms of sales are that both consoles are doing well. Comparing the period 13 months after launch, the PS4 and XB1 have sold 80 percent more units than the 360 and PS3 did in the same period. That's good news for everyone.
I also think price is a huge factor in which console sells because there is so little difference between these units when you remove the Kinnect. The capabilities are pretty similar and the libraries are nearly identical. I think Titanfall is the only exclusive that wracked up fairly large sales, but not at the blockbuster level that would tip the scales in one platform's favor (the way Halo or Gears did for MS previously). For most consumers, I don't think they perceive much difference between the two consoles, so why not buy the cheaper one? I think that was a big factor in the PS4 getting the jump.
I felt this myself -- my wife asked me if I wanted an XB1 for Christmas, and while my inner gaming nerd said "yes," I don't really have much reason to add an XB1 to go with my PS4 because of the library overlap. At the same time, if my PS4 broke and the XB1 was cheaper, I would be tempted to go with a cheaper XB1 (although MLB: The Show would make that decision more difficult).

Im in the same boat. I had 2-3 chances to pickup XBO but ultimately, I would only be buying it for one game, forza 2. If I didnt have PS4, i would definitely pickup XBO this holiday season. But i committed too many games this year for PS4 that it would not make much sense buying a XBO as a secondary system.Brando70 wrote:The great thing in terms of sales are that both consoles are doing well. Now that Driveclub has essentially been updated, stick with the PS4. It'll more than provide you with your racing fix.Inuyasha wrote:Im in the same boat. So you are saying that Drive Club is better than Forza 2? It is about a ten year old game. Not much to be proud of.sportdan30 wrote:Now that Driveclub has essentially been updated, stick with the PS4. It'll more than provide you with your racing fix.Inuyasha wrote:

If you love old school baseball video games, read up on Super Mega Baseball for the PS4. Downloaded it last night for my son and I. Such a fun game that I can see playing a season of 5 inning games. Pitching is enjoyable and love the simplistic nature of hitting. The umpire is creepy though!!

So, now that I am looking over the MS website, I could get a XB1 without the Kinect for $250 if I trade in my PS3. Just as quickly as I had talked myself out of this, I seem to be talking myself into it.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
Lost 56-0? Woa! I won my first game 5-2 playing on medium. Was winning my second game playing alongside my son 7-0 (belted 3 home runs), until my wife went bananas and said I had to help the kids with homework and studying. I actually thought the game play was a little easy, and am looking forward to how other teams play.
I think the default is medium skill level, which they call "ego". Supposedly, fielding fly balls becomes more manual as you level up or your skill increases. As cartoonish as the game looks, it really does play a fairly realistic game of baseball, and obviously doesn't take itself too seriously. There's a pretty good differential between slow players and fast players, contact hitters and power hitters, good fielders and bad fielders, strong arms and soft throwers. In my second game, the CPU made two errors at SS, so I assume that fielder is pretty poor.
I most enjoy the pitching. I've only pitched with a guy named Manny Kays (get it?), and he had an assortment of 8 different pitch types. It's not overly easy to throw strikes and like MLB The Show, you can fool the hitters by mixing up the pitches.
Perhaps it's a little overpriced for an Indie game at $20, but I'm more excited about this game after a night of playing than many AAA titles I've bought over time. Then again, I have fond memories of playing RBI Baseball, Bases Loaded, Baseball Stars, etc. and this game has that nostalgia feel.

Re: XBox One AND PS4 Discussion
This is what I did but with one of my 360. The trade in needs to boot and you need the power supply, A/V cables and 1 controller. I went to a local MS store and got the AC bundle so I also got 2 games with it. Deal ends 12/31 so act fast. I'm not sure you'll be seeing these deals come Q1 2015Brando70 wrote:Well, there is that...RobVarak wrote:You mean except for the legion of dear, dear online companions you have left pining for you since your departure from XBL?Brando70 wrote:I don't really have much reason to add an XB1 to go with my PS4 because of the library overlap.![]()

It plays a quick game of baseball which I love. There are no announcers, and again the umpire is both humorous and creepy.

Thanks for the impressions Dan. I was thinking of getting it for the kids, but they are mostly playing on the XB1 and with Santa bringing Infinity 2 they will be busy. I'll wait for a price drop for me.

I can understand waiting. I'm sure there will be a price drop anyways in a month or two. There are just so many quality games right now that I'm going to have a hard time juggling them all. Was also thinking of picking up the new Tetris game for the PS4 and Xbox One. It's only $10, but will probably wait.Danimal wrote:Thanks for the impressions Dan. Here's Pasta Padre's review of the game. It also includes a 34 minute game play video. It's not indicative of how enjoyable the game is though.
