Interesting read/listen. Technology is helping to prolong the time to try to restart the body fully. What would have been considered "dead" just a few years ago, through better measurements, is still a time of hope for the patient.
Rob - how are your teeth? Hope you didn't watch the game.
To quote myself;

The only positive of today's game was both Sterling and Shelvey playing fairly well.
Also, Fowler strike me down for this blasphemy but Kenny is lucky he's the greatest player in our history otherwise we'd be talking about his replacement right about now.....

I heard on a podcast last week that Uncle Roy's record at Liverpool was almost identical to Kenny's at the same juncture.

As expected, thanks to the miracle of vicodin, the teeth hurt much less than the game. Chewing on cotton gauze for 12 hours hasn't been fun, but it's not as miserable was watching these goalless wonders.
Only increases my discontent with Kenny. Plus, your Dad seems very much aligned with the FSG analytics-heavy philosophy. Kenny did a nice job keeping things together after the Hicks-Gillette implosion, but I think we're due for a second restoration soon.

I would love for him to come back - his tactical nous versus Kenny is night and day....but I'm not sure he'd be willing to relinquish some of the transfer market control to Comolli. I just imagine how far his jaw must have dropped when he heard we spent 60 million quit on Carroll, Downing and Henderson - while when he was manager he had to settle for 2nd choice targets.
EDIT:
Anyone see Crouchie's goal today? Amazing stuff. What the hell is happening with City? Don't choke now!

Was a fantastic touch and shot as the ball never touched the ground. Perhaps not as incredible as Rooney's goal last year, but certainly one of, if not the best this year.
I like Bradley - I got a chance to watch him at the U-20 World Cup in Toronto a number of years ago for the US against Uruguay and thought he was head and shoulders above all the other players, glad to see he's doing well at club level.
couldn't care less, I don't think Germany has qualified for the Olympics in its history. only areas that seem to care about Olympic football is South America and Africa.
For established footballing nations with deep resources, I agree that the Olympics are a sideshow to a sideshow.
For emerging footballing nations, where the quality of the senior team is not essentially assured by a certain level of talent, I think it's somewhat more important.
If the US can't feel a decent U-23 team, that bodes ill for a senior team whose best players are all near or past 30. I suppose one could argue that due to the lingering damage done by the NCAA system, there will be a consistent supply of average players from the NCAA ranks who can buoy the senior team but who haven't really contributed to the U-23's. That's really just another indictment of the structure of US soccer to me though, rather than any sort of consolation.

It's not a super big deal, but I would've enjoyed watching the US soccer games in the Olympics. This team was supposed to be pretty good, though lacking in defense. The cycle with Donovan and Beasley coming of age also failed to qualify for the Olympics, although that is because they lost a single game on the road to Mexico in Mexico.

A bunch of fans on a Liverpool forum are trying to garner up support to do this at the next home game. I really, really hope they do - not because it would be hilarious, because I'm hoping it will help....
I almost fell asleep during 'Meeelan'/Barca today. Very dissapointing.
So sad to hear of the passing of Giorgio Chinaglia. In addition to a long, successful and colorful career as a player, he was terrific on The Soccer Show with Charlie Stilletano on Sirius. I don't think anyone at any level watched more soccer during the course of the week and had more interesting, fun opinions about every damn game.
He seemed like one of those larger than life characters who leaves innumerable stories and smiles in his wake.
Kudos to Fox Soccer for a very sweet and fitting tribute during the Goals on Sunday show today.
