I am starting to get really angry here. This is the 4th game I have had freeze up on me where I was forced to shut off the PS3. I may have to start saving games after the 5th inning because this is bullsh*t!
You playing a "Franchise" or "Season"?
I'm playing Season mode. After 162 games + post season I'll be so bored of this game that I'll never play it again. Franchise would be fun but I don't sim games and I think a season will take me a while. It'll be even longer if the fu*king game keeps keeps freezing on me too.

I hear ya. I haven't had a freeze yet. Knock on wood. I defiantly understand your frustration. It would be nice to know what causes it. I've checked out OS and the biggest complaint about freezes was with Tropicana Field.
You could try exchanging the game if you still have the receipt. But most likely, it's not the game. Or perhaps delete all of the game's saved files, except of course for your season.
Jack, if I recall didn't stop playing a previous version of this game because of constant freezing issues? It may have been on the PS2 I was thinking.
Mine has not locked up and I pray it doesn't. that's what killed me from playing NCAA Basketball. Although I am sure SCEA will fix and issues, while EA told their programmers not to fix anything.

Im nearly positive it is the game, but I don't think I have a faulty copy. It doesn't do it enough for me to think it's a bad copy. I think it may just be a bug with the game that is a part of any disc and you guys are just lucky to have not experienced it yet. My PS3 is well under a year old and it's a newer slim model, so it's not the system. I have had freeze issues on Heavy Rain, but that problem was extremely widespread so again, not my system. I started the Blue Jays game over again and had another extra inning game. I won this one 4-2 in 12 innings. Victor Martinez came in with an 8 game hitting streak but was 0-4. He ended up hitting the game winning 2 run hr in the top of the 12th, so that's kinda cool. The Red Sox are a great team to play with! The only complaint I have is Dice K and his windup. When he is pitching from the windup he takes nearly 2x the time to deliver as a normal pitcher. If he's throwing from the stretch it's completely normal. I am sure you guys will notice this when you face Boston. I can't hit for s*** with Big Papi or Youkilis which is odd. Ellsbury, Drew and Martinez are doing most of my damage so far. I am loving this game even with the issues. Anyone done anything really cool yet like a perfect game, no hitter or hit for the cycle? I missed the cycle with Ellsbury by a triple.

Yep,you have a great memory. It was on my PS2. I can't remember the year.
I've had no real problems with the game up to this point and I'm loving my season so far with the Texas Rangers. I'm 6-3 and in first place to start the season. Some guys started the season on fire and are still on fire, some guys have cooled off, and a few started in a rut but are now rebounding at the plate. I'm hitting the ball now too....granted I adjusted the sliders a little bit to help, so I'm just about at the point where I'm going to put them back to where they were but I've got 3 game series against the Yankees and then the Red Sox up next so I'll probably wait until after those games are over.
There is nothing like getting ahead in the count against the CPU in this game.....I feel like I earn everything in this game.

Anybody playing a season mode like to mix up what stadiums you play in? I don't want to play 81 games in my home park so I like to mix it up on occasion. I am playing a game at Wrigley now. It's so ugly early in the year when the ivy is brown, but it's a classic park. I would really like for them to include the old Tiger Stadium. Hitting a hr to dead center there is a home run you have really earned. How the hell is the Metrodome a "classic" stadium but they didn't include other more recent classics such as Comisky, Tiger Stadium or the old Brewers park?

Ha! I thought that was funny, too, that the Metrodome was a "classic" park.
My guess is that they just threw it in there because they already had it in previous versions of the game, whereas Comiskey, Tiger Stadium, and County Stadium were gone before the first version of The Show came out, so they never got built into the game, so it'd probably be a lot more work to add those ballparks from scratch now.
I have this game playing perfectly now. The big struggle in a sports sim is to make all the numbers come out realisticly while you play it, and still have it play challenging.

I assumed it was just the fact that they had it coded already, but it really has no place. I bet not even 1% of gamers would ever choose to play a game there. I'd LOVE to see County Stadium, Comiskey and Tiger Stadium included next year. I'd gladly pay 5 bucks more for the game to have those 3 parks. County Stadium reminds me a lot of a minor league park. No frills at all but it had that guy who went down the slide into a beer mug and that's almost as classic as the Philly Fanatic in my opinion. The olddd parks like the Polo Grounds were way too far before my time so I don't really get into them. I want to hit one over the roof @ Tiger like Cecil Fielder!
This may be a really basic and ridiculous question, but I'm going to ask it anyway.
I don't "get" baseball. Never have. Football I know in and out--hockey and basketball even. But baseball, I'm clueless on tendencies, what to pitch in what order to "set up" batters, what to expect at the plate as a hitter, etc.
That means every baseball game I ever play kind of has me swinging at random crap, striking out a lot, throwing whatever I feel like throwing, and I typically get bored after 10 games or so.
But I keep hearing year after year how The Show is the best thing since sliced bread. So is all the realism going to be lost on a player like me, or is there something in here that somehow gradually clues you in on the nuances of the sport?
I keep going back and forth on whether or not I should try it, but to be perfectly honest, I can't usually tell the difference between each version of 2K baseball from year to year, let alone something like The Show, so maybe I'm a lost cause. I'd just really like to "get" what makes The Show the be all, end all of sports games like a lot of people say it is.
I gotta think that with how The Show works, if you simply throw what you feel like throwing and swing at everything, you're going to fail miserably and generally have a bad time... maybe not on the lowest difficulty, but I'm not sure. I don't know that the game is necessarily instructive the way, say, Winning Eleven got a lot of people turned on to football, because one of the continuing beefs I have with the series is the lack of feedback for why things happen the way they do. It's gotten better, particularly on the hitting side, where you can call up a visualization of your swing timing and placement after the fact, but on the pitching and defense side I still find it an uneasy milieu of meter success, pitcher ratings, hitter ratings, and the CPU's proven ability to catch on to your strategy when you get too repetitive on the mound. Baseball knowledge can help you navigate this minefield with greater success, but feeling your way through this minefield won't necessarily teach you baseball knowledge. Does that make sense?
There are some worthwhile threads over at O.S. actually discuss how best to pitch. There's really so much that goes into it, and even with a sound philosophy you're going to fail a lot. That's baseball for ya.
I'm finding the new version sort of transcendent, but it can be so realistically frustrating at times (just like following your team over a hundred sixty-two) that I think I've been an angrier person since it came out. No joke.
