It's really not that difficult to stay faithful, but it's a convenient excuse to say how difficult it is. If a guy has the mental discipline to be a professional athlete he has the mental discipline to keep his dick in their pants if he's married. It's certainly a hell of a lot easier than shooting four under par at Augusta the day you come back from a major scandal.

Choosing not to stay faithful is not the same as being unable to stay monogamous.

Badger_Fan wrote:The sanctimony from people over this whole ordeal is funny to me. As far as I know, none of us are married to Tiger. He doesn't owe any one of us an apology.

Anyone who has ever hung out with athletes know that this s*** happens. When I was in college, I was friends with a lot of guys on the Badger hockey team. I had girls ask about this guy and that guy and my advice was always the same, "Really nice guy, but if I had a sister I wouldn't want her to date him." 95% of people in their situation would cheat. It's just human nature.
And the above is an example of why people who lump Tiger into the same wheelbarrow as every other athlete are wrong.

Tiger, Nike, his other sponsors and IMG built an image around Woods of perfection. They all crafted it. Tiger embraced it, inhaled it, oozed it. And it made him obscenely famous and rich. Tiger is NOT the same as a bunch of poonhound teens playing college hockey.

So when it was proven that the carefully crafted facade around Tiger was a giant crock of sh*t, the public was entitled to call Tiger on it any way they like.

Tiger is probably sports' closest answer to Icarus. The guy flew too damn close to the sun, thinking the wax holding together his wings never would melt.

And it's been a speedy fall to the ground for Tiger, just like Icarus.
So because people are stupid enough to fall hook, line, and sinker for a marketing pitch they are owed an apology? He's an entertainer, specifically a professional golfer. He did his job (entertaining people by playing golf) very, very well. The only people that can be owed an apology are Elin Woods, his kids, his sponsors, and the other golfers on tour who have to put up with this circus show. He didn't do anything to us.
I never said Tiger owed anyone an apology. But I do say that people can laugh, chide and criticize him if they want.

Tiger can be someone's comic relief if they want it to be because he's a public figure and gets paid partially because of his fan appeal, a portion of which was his squeaky-clean, almost perfect image created by Tiger and his handlers.

He owes me nothing. But I can laugh and criticize all I want if I choose -- especially since I haven't pulled down my zipper for another woman besides my wife since the day I started going out with her in 1988.

Putting myself on a pedestal as I look down upon those casting the stones is what makes me feel better about myself in a sick way.

Tiger is the one that tore himself down by his actions, it was nothing Joe Q. Public did. Nobody has torn Derek Jeter, Peyton Manning, or Arnie Palmer from their pedestals. The only criticism of Manning I've ever heard is that he's only won one Super Bowl and that's not something you'll see on a sign behind a plane next football season.

America loves a comeback as much as they enjoy laughing as someone knocks themselves down. It's easy being a man when everything is going your way and the most adversity you face is being 2 shots down with 3 holes to play in a major championship. I don't share your disdain for the American public. If Tiger can save his marriage, turn out to be a good father, and make a positive contribution to society then we will find out how much of a man he truly is and he will be "forgiven" by most and remembered in a better light. I'd be disappointed in American society if he *wasn't* the brunt of jokes and ridicule. The apathy regarding such truly ridiculous behavior from a married man with children would be too much for me to handle.

Good post, Leebo, but I also couldn't help but think of this:

It's easy to grin
when your ship comes in
and you've got the stock market beat

But the man worthwhile
is the man who can smile
when his shorts are too tight in the seat.

Not a good year for Tiger, had to withdraw from Sawgrass, thinks he has a bulging disc? Sounds painful.

Not to make this a sarcastic question but does anyone else get the impression Tiger is on the JUICE? The dude looks buff these days not like the younger skinnier Tiger. I've read that the body starts to breakdown faster if you've been taking it for sometime.

Rough sex with multiple mistresses clearly causes a bulge in places other than the obvious region.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if his entourage at one point of his career comes out clear and confess that he did take PED during his early days.

I just saw on Fox that Tiger has agreed to give his wife $750 million in the divorce. She has agreed not to say anything publicly about Tiger's trysts while he is alive or even after he dies. Tiger is not allowed to let single women have any contact with the children. He can only let a love interest near them if he is married to the woman. I would say that Elin made out quite well, lol.

Wow and he had a prenup?

Isn't that likely his whole career earnings after taxes? No guarantee he could make that money again, because he hasn't been winning tourneys since coming back.

Some expensive sex life.

It's a perfect time for ...

Then again, is it ever a bad time for that video? :)

According to the article he is worth well over a billion dollars. I would guess she is getting about half of his worth. He still has a lot of endorsement deals, and of course hundreds of millions in investments and business ventures. I doubt he will be hurting for money.

Source appears to be a Brit tabloid so lets see if she really gets that much.

Even if he grossed a billion, after taxes it would be much less.

Anyways, the kids will know about the affairs after the media blowout. Their school mates will taunt them and they will Google and find out everything.

The payoff also includes her talking about anything relating to the medical issues (HGH, dealings with that Candian doc, etc.)

How long ago did I bring up PED's and Tiger and people were questioning me on it? Why have this in the prenup Tiger if you did no wrong?
My xbox live name is "The Zlax45"
