Got my cables yesterday as well. I had no porblem with it going to 16:9.
I am not as impressed as I hoped I'd be, but it is better than composite. I only did a quick test with Zelda and then Wii Sports but it was just marginally better IMO. And yes, I made sure I changed the Wii menu "Screen" settings to 480p.

With Wii sports i really didn't see a difference. With Zelda i did see a difference not a huge difference but it did clear the muddiness up for the most part, and the picture looks more crisp and clear. I think i remember reading that the games have to support 480p for you to notice the differenceSpooky wrote:Got my cables yesterday as well. I had no porblem with it going to 16:9.

There is/will be a usb ethernet connection coming. I have one at home I use to use for my ps2. I will give that a try later on and see how/if it works.grtwhtsk wrote:Don't have wireless at home...so no online WII action for me.![]()
Anyone know if there will be (or is) a way to hook up a wired connection to the Wii?

Don't forget to post your console codes over in that thread. It's pretty funny to see what DSP Mii members look like!
I'll post mine tonight. Is it possible to choose which Mii's you want to travel and which you do not? Reason being is that I'm almost certain many of you wouldn't be interested in seeing Grandma and Grandpa, or my nephew. Then again, who knows.
Not too sure if they will see all of your Mii's but i know you can send certain ones to who ever you have registeredsportdan30 wrote:Rally,RallyMonkey wrote:Dan and Spooky,

That's a great point and what has kept me from giving out my Wii code. I let the family create tons of different Mii's. But now that you bring it up, yes, you can choose in their edit settings whether they "travel" or not so I can fix that and share my code now!sportdan30 wrote:Rally,RallyMonkey wrote:Dan and Spooky,

Thanks for brinning that up!

As Spooky said, yes, you can have some travel and some not. I have my immediate family travel (me, wife, two daughters) but grammy, grandpa, etc, etc, don't.
One thing that Sport73 and I have talked about is creating "famous" Mii's and letting them travel. When you guys see Boom Boom Washington from Welcome Back Kotter wander through that would be my creation. (Don't ask) Rocky also, but he needs a bit more character development.

I also received my COMPONENT cables a few days ago, but I'm decidedly more impressed with the improvement than others that have posted here. Perhaps it's the result of lowered expectations, but I'm content to report that things are more colorful, sharper, and just cleaner looking than before.
On the other hand, I highly recommend staying away from the System Selector from Pelican sold to match/sit below the Xbox 360. I was running out of component inputs on my set and decided to pick up this $70 unit because it had an IR remote and discrete switching. There is no noticeable picture degredation going through the box, but there is CONSTANT signal bending (think an old TV with Vertical hold screwed up on a portion of the screen) whenever a highly contrasted element (like the black borders that pop up constantly in Zelda) is displayed. I don't have the receipt,(got it a few weeks ago) but I'm going to try to take the damn thing back to Gamestop...

Any consensus on a better replacement?dbdynsty25 wrote:There was a thread a while back on that Pelican...your assesment is pretty much the consensus. It's not a nice piece of hardware.
I'm probably just going to fork over $1,000 at some point for a new Surround Receiver that includes Component/HDMI switching, but I doubt I'll do that during the holidays so I may need something $100 or so to tide me over.

Not sure if this is what you seek, but I bought this last year for $10 on eBay, and it works very, very well for all of my S-video hookups:

Wii has created more unprecedented video game events in my life recently;
tonight, my girlfriend is bringing her friends over to play Wii Sports, and the other day my mom called to make sure that I would bring my Wii to the family Xmas gathering this year!! (She had very quickly tried out bowling one day, but was instantly impressed)

I'm pretty sure he's looking for one with component cable connections, not just regular S-Video. And to answer Sports question...no, there wasn't a consensus...I have almost given up.pk500 wrote:Sport:

The demand for this sucker is so incredibly high that it leaves me speechless. I lined up yesterday morning for the PS3 expecting that there would be a bigger line up for the PS3 than there would be for the Wii. Could I have been more wrong.
There were about total 14 maybe 15 people in line for the PS3 and I would say at least triple that for the Wii (unfortunately for those that turned out to line up the Best Buy store I went to only had 12 Wii's in stock). Nintendo has created incredible demand for this system by creating something so unique. Although I believe the price point also helps as well but I'm sure it's the ingenious mechanism for this console that's driving everyone to it.

I usually don't go to Gamestop anymore, but was at the mall today so I stopped in. There were at least 15 people, including myself, lined up watching someone play Zelda. It was an impressive sight that I've never seen before except maybe when I was a kid and a crowd would gather at Sears to watch people play Asteroids on Atari.
It's too bad I haven't seen any because I probably would make the impulse buy at this point, although the lack of assessories is a bummer that may make me wait. Plus, is Zelda hard to find? I noticed it is on backorder at Gamestop.com and the store I visited had none on display.
