Can you adjust the sliders after you start a franchise? I set them and then started one, but in the franchise i only see the setting and not sliders. I set to some sliders i found but i didn't lower the contact as much i shouls have since i was jump to a higher level i was afraid i would have too hard a time until i adjusted.
Yes you can. In the PSP version, you do it in game. Just hit pause and then go into options, then tuning.kicko wrote:Can you adjust the sliders after you start a franchise? When I had my rental of the PSP version, I played a few games online and it played very well. When you would run into any lag, the game would actually pause until the connection became stable again, so when you were actually playing you didn't have to worry about any choppiness. All the randoms I played just wanted to throw strikes, so all of the games pretty much turned into homerun derbies.Leebo33 wrote:Has anyone ever tried the PSP version online? I may give it a shot sometime this week and would prefer not to play randoms who will pause and quit when I throw too many balls.
I picked up the PS2 version of The Show this week, and it is definitely my favorite baseball game I have ever played, and one of the best sports games overall that I have played. I was never even a fan of the series in the past, and always thought it was highly overrated. However, something about the game this year really grabs me, the total package is just unmatched by any other series. I still like the fielding better in MVP, but I prefer the hitting and pitching in The Show over any other game before it.
In regards to the pitching, I've read a lot at OS about people switching to classic pitching, but I just can't do it. I know you really have to develop a feel as to when do release the button depending on who your pitcher is and what type of pitch you are throwing, but it just feels too random to me. I think I threw about a dozen wild pitches in one inning last night trying to get a slider over the plate.[/list]

It looks good! It's still a PS2 game, but the game translates very well to a HD set. HD can make other standard def games look very ugly or jaggy, but this one comes through very well.jLp vAkEr0 wrote:I know I asked this earlier but I didn't get a response.
Has anyone played MLB 2006 on a HDTV?
How did it look?
A friend of mine is gonna lend me his ps2 in a couple of weeks and I'll have to play it on my LCD HDTV.
You'll be pleased, I think.

I agree with web, it looks very nice on my HDTV and supports widescreen displayswebdanzer wrote:It looks good! It's still a PS2 game, but the game translates very well to a HD set. There's actually option to choose "Yes" or "No" for widescreen displays and while the box doesn't specify 480p, I'm pretty sure it supports that too (last year's game did).jLp vAkEr0 wrote:Really?Jason wrote: I agree with web, it looks very nice on my HDTV and supports widescreen displays
I think I read somewhere that the game doesn't support widescreen.

Level--HOF
Pitching aids--All off (Strike zone, h/c zone, cursor)
Sliders (all clicks from default)
Pit count- Max
Contact-- 0 for me, default for the CPU
Power-- +2 for me, +1 for the CPU
Pitch speed-- Default to +4. Whatever you comfort level is.
Baserunning aggressive-- +5
Throw Speed--(between -4 and -6)
Thow Accuracy-- -4 for both
Errors-- +3 for both
Strike Zone--Wide
These are modified version's of favre4ever at OS. Other thoughts...
1) The game doesn't need much tweaking. HOF level is extremely playable, even at default. With these settings, my games have had a lot of variety, are fun, and are competitive. That's all I really want from a sports game.
2) I found that I was a getting a tad too many singles, and not quite enough doubles. Using the square (power) button instead of "x" all the time helped a lot with getting the stats even better.
Baseball games are my favorite genre, and this game is probably the best one I've played since the HH days. Great game.

Aj:
Those are basically the same sliders I have but for the PSP.
Just a great game, can't wait to play it on the tv.

I only guess pitch when I'm ahead in the count 2-0 or 3-1 and if I start noticing a tendency on a CPU pitcher, for example throwing alot of sliders on the 1st pitch, I just go ahead and guess slider on pitch one with one of my power guys(Beltran, Delgado, Wright, Floyd).MizzouRah wrote:Thanks, I assume you use guess pitch on HOF level?
Guess pitch is cool but I turned it off. I was too invovled in guessing the pitch instead of really playing the game.
This game is still so awesome to play. 989 is really fortunate that EA isn't in the MLB business anymore or this title would have probably been overlooked by most consumers who would have bought the EA marketing machine.

Best baseball game of the last 5 years...easily. The animations are the best in any sports game - ever. As far as guess pitch, I have been using it. It helps with walks. If I guess wrong I just lay off the pitch (unless there are 2 strikes). Helps me get ahead in the count alot. Then I sit on pitches as the at bat goes on. I love getting to a 2-1, 3-1 count and sitting on a juicy fastball. Simply guessing location is very nice also. Its is a VERY realistic way of hitting.

I agree that, for me, using guess pitch seems like a very realistic approach to hitting. Even when you guess completely right (both on pitch type and location), there is still no guarantee that you'll do anything with the ball. I guessed once last night with Juan Encarnacion and promptly hit into a 6-4-3 double play.
I respect all you guys who at least imply (if not openly state) that the old HH might have been better than The Show, but I just don't get it. From the graphics, animations, pace of the game and overall gameplay, The Show seems to have gotten so much right that I just don't see how a 5 year old graphically challenged (even in its day) baseball game could come close to comparing. But again I respect your opinions.
