XBox One AND PS4 Discussion

That's nice to hear. I'm not far off what you did. But I may keep the ps4 while i buy xbo. But if sony keeps screwing up, I'll be happy to sell it. Don't need the PIA.

Few questions about XBO :

1.Can you do all that television stuff w/o kinect? like watching live tv and playing xbo?
2.EA Access - so if i get EA access, I get at least 6 hours on every new game this year right? Or is it 6 hours total for all games?

Yeah, EA Access gives you 6 total hrs per game. That includes Menu time as well. So it's best to jump into the game and worry about settings later. Also you need to quit the game/close application as the meter will continue to run as well.

That's not true. The timer stops the moment go to the home screen. I was worried about it, but it proved to be unwarranted.

For the 360, SmartGlass was a neat idea I rarely used. I use it all the time now.

Same here. Ignored SmartGlass for the 360. Use it almost every time I fire up my One. It's fantastic.

Had both, but the One version is light years better....just bought The Golf Club on Smartglass and will install tomorrow as soon as I get my unit and get it up and running....

You have to buy games for the Smartglass?

Sony updated their Playstation app too, for iPad, now uses an iPad layout, not the same layout as a phone.

Yeah, the Sony app is cool too with the latest updates. Have been watching 'Advanced Warfare' thru Twitch where a lot of Aussies are broadcasting the game. I saw a lot of Titanfall features online, I think I am getting this COD game.

Man Sony is getting killed on their own forums for this ultimate f*** up on the 2.0 patch. Are they taking this seriously? There is user wide outrage. It's not like this issue is only affectinting a small percentage of ps4 owners. It's almost like 50 percent or even more. What's pissing so many people off is how late sony 'recognized' the issue, and now they're saying it's just 'some' users. They put that stupid step by step fix, but that fix doesn't work. They don't see the hundreds of comments people are leaving on twitter how the f***in FIX DOES NOT WORK!!! I hate this kind of disrespect as a consumer. Did Don f***in Mattick take over at Sony and I just happened to miss the news?

I see lot of users like me, who were ex 360 die hards and who moved over to PS4 since MS screwed up XBO launch and prelaunch. I guess it's like politics now, where MS is trying to win back the 360 users. Seems like Sony is helping them out by ultimate user screw ups back to back to back. You can make an analogy that the 360 was like a successful 2 term President finishing out his/her term and the next canidate they put out there nobody liked so they switched over to the other party since it was safe and cheaper and were open in giving him/her a try. Things were going well until the new President started f***in up and was pissing off the old MS users. Now it's like the mid term elections and MS is trying to win us back and Sony keeps effing up even more.

The race itself you can compare to a football game. MS wasn't prepared when the game started and Sony went out to a big lead in the first quarter say 14-0. then in the 2nd qtr, sony started fumbling the ball numerous times opening up a chance for MS to come back. MS did some in game adjustments and have a new plan for the 2nd qtr. You can feel the momentum of the game shifting their way, but they still have to make some plays to score. They hope to cut the lead in half or even to 14-10 by halftime (xmas).

I think I'm going to still wait for BF. Even if there aren't that many big deals for XBO on BF or CM, at least I have a fall back of $350.

I am still buying games in a physical format and while I definitely prefer the convenience of going digital, lately it takes me like at least 3-4 tries of inserting and ejecting the CD into the tray before it starts reading the game. Annoying to say the least, anyone else having this issue? At times I even hear a grinding sound. Hmmm. This is on the X1.

That's exactly the issue that led to my drive being bad. I'm on my 5th XB1 now because of faulty drives, 10s.

I've been able to swap mine out for a new one, as I went through 3 with bad drives in the first few weeks, then it was fine for about 7 or 8 months, then that one was bad, too. Just got a new one like 3 weeks ago due to drive problems on that one, too.

Granted, my GS pretty much treats me like royalty and works around any systems they may have in place because I pretty much keep that store afloat single-handedly, but I've been able to exchange machines each time. In other news, the XBONE version of the COD game runs more smoothly than the PS4 version (albeit at a lower resolution http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digit ... e-analysis) - this shouldn't be a big deal but the resulting meltdown on NeoGaf is priceless.

I know their job is to sell but these guys seem to be more upfront and frank with me.

So they're telling me that even though XBO sort of caught up to PS4 this year in terms of graphics, they're saying next year you're really going to see a big gap open up for PS4. They're saying the reason why is the PS4 hardware is still superior and even though MS dropped kinect and is using that 50 percent more power, next year, when developers start pushing the PS4 to its max or near max, the XBO won't be able to catchup due to the inferior hardware.

So is there some truth to this? Or just more b.s.?

I've been saying that since Day 1. The gap doesn't close when there is a clear hardware advantage. There's a reason why nearly all of the cross platform games are higher res on the PS4. That doesn't mean they are better looking all of the time (as some prefer more vibrant colors, etc.)...but that gap doesn't just go away. Now is it going to be THAT huge that an XB1 sucks? Absolutely not.

I haven't seen any PS4 games look as good as Forza 5...so...yeah. If a team is focusing on the XB1...it can make some ridiculously good looking games. When you go cross platform...you have to sacrifice somewhere, and it's usually on resolution and aliasing.

And they didn't drop the price because of inferior hardware, they dropped it because they were getting trounced in sales. Catching up is one thing...but it's all about the perceived value of the console. Sure, they can sell half as many at $400 and make twice the profit that they can at $300, but that doesn't look good in sales charts, nor does it appease the publishers of games. So they had to bite the bullet.

Sony is saying to anyone who purchased COD Advanced Warfare and preloaded it on their system to delete and redownload the game. Apparently it's a problem with the XONE digital version as well

How long is forever?

It hung at 1% over 30 minutes. It took several hours to fully download last night. I did a diagnostics test and I'm get approx 30 down and 10 up on the console according to the test results

^^^ Certain parts of XBL are unavailable atm on my 360. So maybe they are having a problem with downloads as well.
