Great opening night win for my Flyers. Simmons continues to be a stud. Let’s get LA tonight!

Re: Hockey Night In DSP 2017-2018
McJesus' second goal, on a breakaway, was breathtaking. I haven't seen a player with this combination of speed and touch since the apogee of the Russian Rocket, Pavel Bure.

Good comparison, that swiftness and quick hand reminds me a lot of Pavel. Watching him last night fly in a few shifts prompted me to ask, did he get even quicker this summer. I mean that initial acceleration just blows away people in a dust.pk500 wrote:McJesus' second goal, on a breakaway, was breathtaking. Saad was a beast as well. Pens did get a bit shafted having back to back games though, but 10-1?10spro wrote: Patty Kane was on fuego, that spinorana pass, his backhand goal, nice four points night.

Re: Hockey Night In DSP 2017-2018
You don't think it takes many games for athletes to get into proper game condition, especially with the speed and physical play in the NHL? I'm not saying that's why they got destroyed last night, but to think they can jump right into game speed in back to back games with travel and not have some impact is ludicrous.Danimal wrote:

Did they not have a training camp like the rest of the league? Hockey camps aren't as soft as the NFL. guys should be ready to go. A back and back sucks and traveling as well but 4-1 or 5-1 sure maybe I buy the theory. 10-1? that's something else.MizzouRah wrote:I'm not saying that's why they got destroyed last night, but to think they can jump right into game speed in back to back games with travel and not have some impact is ludicrous.Danimal wrote:

Re: Hockey Night In DSP 2017-2018
That they did. Hawks did that a lot in the preseason too. They ran a clinic on the Pens, skating, passing.. as much as I dislike the Blackhawks, they were impressive for sure. Pens always look like s*** in the beginning but always finish with a fury. Should be a great hockey season!Danimal wrote: Did they not have a training camp like the rest of the league? The Hurricanes are overrated. They aren't making the playoffs. You can all put your boners back in your pants.

Didnt even know they where still a team , thought Vegas replaced them.
Re: Hockey Night In DSP 2017-2018
The Matt Duchene saga in COL is finally over. Big three teams involved in the trade with K. Turris moving to NAS and Sakic’s team getting a bunch of picks from OTT & NAS plus a couple of really good prospects ready to step in.
It’s no secret that Duchene wanted out of town and with the Sens unable or unwilling to resign Turris to a long extension contract, the trade makes perfect sense to all three teams involved.

Suck on your cheesesteak Diablo
.
Canucks start their long and tough 6 road trip win a win in Philly. Hunting for you Vader tomorrow on a B2B as they’ll try to clean PA. They’ve been a much better team on the road than at home, still rebuilding, still would like to see some new youngsters in action but their above .500 record is surprising many.
It’s about a quarter way into the long season and I would grade them a B- so far, would like to see some more consistency on some players and play better at home. Their PP needs to improve and we’ll see how they fare for the remaining of this long trip.
Disappointments so far, no doubt: The Oils, I had them high in the western conference yet they are still struggling especially with that potent offense. Goalie needs improvement and they are playing the best in the west tonight. Not looking good.
I tell you who looks good and it’s a Cinderella story. How about those Golden Knights eh?
In the East, the Sabres are ina land of nowhere, they just seem to have tanked the season already looking for a favorable draft pick. Pathetic. Leafs look good and I knew TPA would be on top but they are just ripping everyone apart with ease.

A sweet, sour grapes day for Canucks’ nation as D. Sedin gets his 1001 point in the NHL in a comeback win against the Preds and finishing their long 6 road trip above .500.
They found out also that D. Dorsett who was having a career year would not return to the team, in fact will have to call it a career as his neck and back injury reoccurred in this trip. The tough guy for the ‘Nucks played 10 years in the league.

Re: Hockey Night In DSP 2017-2018
Watching the Canucks this season and the past two as a matter of factly is like watching ‘Games of Throne’. Just as you are warmed up enjoying something or someone, it’s all gone by a blink of an eye.
Considered one of the early surprises of the season, with the latest rash of injuries, their status can and will spiral quickly south unfortunately.
Their entire top line is wiped off with lengthy injuries, so is the top D line, and now their rookie sensation and top scorer Brock Boeser is gone with a foot injury after bravely blocking a shot last night.
Not that I had big hopes for them to make it into the playoffs but with their early season play, they were definitely within the wildcard spot. It’s a perennial chronic problem in Lotus land. Just as they get something going, they start falling apart one by one.
Tough luck as I was really enjoying their play under new coach Travis Green, but with 6-7 guys gone and the young kids still raw, they are moving in the wrong direction.

Golden tournament in Buffalo for team Canada as they just defeated team Sweden in a tight tight world juniors’ finals. A lot of good prospects for both teams showing their skills, notably R. Dahlin selected to go first on the next draft and known to be the next E. Karlsson.
No superstars for team Canada really, but I thought Carter Hart really was the difference in between the pipes, Philly fans will have their goaltending issues solved with this guy very soon.
Getting my tickets ready for next year in Vancouver.
Now, among the big boys, when is someone going to take the Golden Knights seriously?

Great to hear Hart is meeting expectations. We have been bouncing from goalie to goalie for years now. Hope he gets here sooner than later.10spro wrote:Golden tournament in Buffalo for team Canada as they just defeated team Sweden in a tight tight world juniors’ finals. The tradedeadline has come and gone. Among the big names being moved today and over the weekend were R. Nash to BOS, P. Stastny to the Jets a move that surprised me somehow because the Blues are pretty much in the playoff hunt still and Winnipeg is pretty strong now to be among my favorites to reach the finals.
T. Plekanec solidifies the middle for the Leafs.
Also today, E. Kane moves to the Sharks and R. McDonagh was traded to Tampa, the team to beat in the East.
Among the big names that stood pat but will likely move over the summer are E. Karlsson (if he doesn’t get the contract he wants) and M. Paccioretty.
My ‘Nucks made a couple of small moves to make the team still younger and swifter but still at least a couple of years away from being in contention.

Re: Hockey Night In DSP 2017-2018
It’s been another brutal year for Canucks fans when it comes to injuries. And of the few bright spots this season has been the play of rookie Brock Boeser who was on pace to break P. Bure old record for most goals in a rookie year. With about two minutes to go in a freak collision with C. Clutterbuck, he broke his back as the bench door was open. He’s out now for the season.
He was great for Vancouver scoring 29 goals with 26 assists and favourite to win the Calder award along M. Barzal.
Just another miserable season...

Re: Hockey Night In DSP 2017-2018
Early on Monday, the Sedin twins made it official that this would be their final year in the NHL. After 17 great years wearing the Canucks uniform they’ll be playing their final game in Vancouver tonight before they finish the season in Edmonton over the weekend. I will miss them for sure, for all the abuse they received earlier in their career, they always stayed positive and put the team first and foremost.
They have an uncanny way of finding each other, the way they cycle the puck, the way they think on the ice will have them in the Hall of Fame in no time and surely have their numbers retired in Lotus land sooner rather than later.
Class act guys, humble to a fault, they both received the respect from all the NHL players towards their latter part of their careers and great community workers.
On Tuesday night before they headed back to the locker room, a classy act by all the Vegas Knights players payed them their final respect.
