Apparently you can't play more than a few holes before your character runs out of 'energy', requiring you to wait a while or make an in-app purchase. Practically speaking, this 'free' game is far more expensive than the previous releases if you want to play it like a normal game because you constantly have to make in-purchases rather than a one time fee of a few bucks.Murph wrote:There's also an optimized iPad version...free!10spro wrote:Let's Golf 3! is out and best of all: Free.

Hmm, sounds like the "freemium" model has run amok.
They say a small percentage of people who download these freemium games account for the bulk of revenues made by these games.

Re: IPhone/ITouch/IPad Game App Thread
It's pretty twisted. I sometimes play Gun Bros, a freemium dual stick shooter with lots of unlockable weapons and outfits, and I haven't spent a dime, but there are lots of guns that you can only get with in-app purchase, and one gun is $500!!! Devs wouldn't put that stuff in there if there wasn't some idiots buying them. I guess all it takes is one idiot for the equivalent of 500 purchases of a $1 game.wco81 wrote:Hmm, sounds like the "freemium" model has run amok.

Anyway, 8-bit Rally just went free (real free). Tried it out and it seems like a fun old school racer game a la the Lotus games of the 90s.

I bought Game Dev Story (iPhone) on sale long ago, and finally tried it the other day. I have to say, it was pretty addicting.
I also noticed Zombie Highway was free, so I tried that. Simple but entertaining.

It's awesome for free. I'm enjoying it in the hour I've spent on it.AJColossal wrote:Tiger Woods is free for both iPhone and iPad.

Re: IPhone/ITouch/IPad Game App Thread
I've played Tiger Woods quite a bit. It's a decent game that could've been better. Namely the putting feels more like throwing darts than rolling the ball, the character progression takes way too long before you can enter tourneys and reach the fairway from the back tees, and ball flight paths are all fast line drives except for irons, making approach shots very awkward roll up shots on most holes.
Honestly though, for free it's definitely worth getting if you want to play some golf.

Re: IPhone/ITouch/IPad Game App Thread
I liked it for the iPhone, but I like it alot better for the iPad2. Much better game, swing interface and I can see the game better with these 53 year old eyes on the iPad which helps. I agree that career progression takes too long, but it seems to be improved since it was updated earlier this month. I paid $6.99 and love it....AJColossal wrote:Tiger Woods is free for both iPhone and iPad.

Question for you guys. What's the best turn-by-turn nav app out there for an iPhone? Don't mind spending a little money, but would rather avoid the $50 plus apps. Is the Telenav app really $10 for a year? Any thoughts are appreciated.
The sing-along songs'll be our scriptures.

Well Google Maps is free too...why include other software when GMaps is already linked with damn near everything in your phone already. Just another reason why the iPhone is crippled and adding features the Android phones have had for years.Rodster wrote:Android, cause TeleNav is FREEBadger_Fan wrote:Question for you guys. Yeah I prefer Google Maps as it tracks your position with the GPS. I only use TeleNav when i'm bored.

I refuse to pay for the expensive ones as well. Motionx gps drive is the only one I have paid for simply cause it is only a buck or two and comes with 30 days of voice turn by turn. After that you can buy per month or yearly live voice.Badger_Fan wrote:Question for you guys. What's the best turn-by-turn nav app out there for an iPhone? Map quests app is free and has free voice turn by turn and it works really well. They have improved it with each update. It doesn't look as pretty as the others but gets the job done for the most part. The Bing app from Microsoft is a beautiful app and very handy to have and includes a map section that works very much like the default google maps app.
