I literally forget the TV is running through the XB one. So when I want to play destiny, I start looking for buttons on my remote when all I have to do is hit the guide button the controller. Like it's a just another layer to my DTV. When people like DB are claiming to be running out of reasons to keep the XB1, I find it more integrated than ever to my rig with each update. Good stuff. Oh, and the games lately are awesome... Anyone buying a xb1 today will get a much better experience than us launch dudes. Have fun!

Madden console bundle not available in local stores and must be shipped to the Syracuse store. So I'll pick up the new rig next Saturday after I return from a business trip, as Best Buy is on way home from airport.

Looking forward to entering the current generation with you cats starting next weekend! :)

Thanks for all of your advice during my journey of contemplation and purchase.

This!

The new Smartglass app is pretty cool, too. I have the console set to not send me notifications while watching TV, but I do want to know whenI am getting messages. Now I get a sounder on my phone, just like an incoming text. I then just use it to respond. Also, if you have it open, when you start anything that brings up the keyboard on the console, Smartglass automatically opens up to a text input mode and lets you type it in from there. It is really nice to be able to monitor my friends list and message them without needing to be on the console, but still message them while they are on the console.

Throw in using the Smartglass to watch clips from my activity feed, as well as commenting and liking them, and it really is a huge added value. I think I will use it even more when Forizon 2 drops.

So yeah, it was a rough launch, and Microsoft is still paying dearly for it, but buying in now is really getting the console they were hoping to sell.

I realize it costs money but you can use an external hard drive if you want. Snag a 1tb for a decent price nowadays.

That, and 3 games is kind of hyperbole. I think I have 15 games on my hard drive right now.

I've got 7 "disc" games with some DLC and 8 "arcade" games installed and have about 100GB left.

I did pick up a 1TB drive for future proofing. I'll probably just use it to store the digital games I stop playing, so I don't have to redownload them if I go back.

AAHHH Nursey.

Ok better now.

I must say after setting it up im very impressed so far. Really liked how it took control of my components. Still got little tweaks to do and finding channels with voice only is a little rough , i may have to post my "Eleven" video again and say i told you so. :D
Is it true there is some picture quality loss ? it does seem the footy this morning is not as crisp. Im switching thru my Receiver.

There's no image quality loss as far as I can tell. However, my crawly TWC DVR box will sometime for no reason default to 480p. I'm sure there are HDMI handshake issues causing the problem and it is annoying, but once I get it sorted all is fine and TWC's crappy compressed HD cable signal looks just as good as ever.

My One is hooked up, boys. VERY impressive piece of kit.

Now the challenge is to try to pry the controller out of my sons' hands so I can get some playing time. :)

Looking forward to gaming with you cats tonight. I'm going to be in a state tonight after band practice, so how about some Destiny or BF4 -- EA Access f*cking RULES -- later tonight? Need For Speed Rivals is in the Vault, too. Bet that would be a hoot online. :)

So far my biggest takeaway besides the graphics and seamless integration of all apps and games is the incredible addition of force-feedback triggers. Terry and Don were right: What a HUGE plus for racing games when approaching the limits of traction.

Yep.

Love the controller. If you are going to play a million hours of Forza and dont have a wheel its the only way to fly.

Out of the blue I have a permanent Xbox logo in the top right of the screen while watching TV. This has never been present before. I've rebooted, reconnected and googled without success.

Anyone else see this? A bit nervous about the burn-in implications.

Weird. Are you in the preview program? I've never seen anything like this.

I'm assuming you've done a hard reset?

Ended up getting tech support via the Xbox support twitter account. Apparently it's a rare error that occurs when switching between accounts without signing out the first. They were flummoxed by the fact that a hard reset didn't resolve it. We tried 3 or 4 different things...then a final, what the hell, hard reset did the trick.

Weird, but resolved.

While it's not necessarily Microsoft's fault; the Xbox One and the NFL Now application completely suck for a football experience. I subscribe to the NFL Sunday Ticket online, and can watch games (albeit with skips and annoying bugs) on the PS4, but the interface is super slick on the Xbox One so I'd love to use that machine. Only problem is that last week I could log in, but not tune to any games; and this week I couldn't log in - no matter what I did I couldn't get a keyboard to come up to enter my username and password on the login screen. And I can't delete/reinstall the NFL app, so it's just hosed.

Pathetic given how much Microsoft hyped the partnership. The same problem occurs when trying to authorize NFL Red Zone on the Xbox...so it's not just the NFL Sunday Ticket.

Guess you didn't read my bitching and complaining last week. The PS4 one is way more streamlined and stable...at this point. That said, the video quality on the XB1 version is better. I didn't have any issues on my XB1 this weekend outside of not being able to get back into Red Zone Channel at halftime of the Miami game. I had to completely exit out and start over. It's a disaster on the XB1 overall so far. The PS4 has been way more reliable.

You should be hugging your XB1. It saved you the trouble of watching the Phins getting shellacked, AGAIN. :)

Looking forward to Oct. 14th when Playstation TV finally comes state side. With the PS4 in the basement, this little thing will sit in our family room or upstairs den allowing remote play. Hopefully the streaming works seamlessly as intended. Plus, it'll be kinda cool to play some Vita games on the big screen.

This is an exciting time for next gen now.

I haven't gamed like this for over 4 years maybe.

I have gamed literally every night since Madden came out. Playing Madden and NHL nightly and I"m sure FIFA is going to get it's fill. And weekend nights, norm for the last few weeks has been quitting around 2/3am.

I never thought I'd come back to this point. Not sure if this regression is a good thing or bad thing but I know it's a fun and exciting thing.

If you were on the fence on getting next gen, well now is the time to jump in. Maybe wait till Black Friday if you want to save money but the games that have come out and the oct/nov games about to come out are showing the 'big jump' we all anticipated last year when PS4/XBO were released.

Fun Times!

You have perfectly described my free time and sentiments, almost to the word, since I set up our new Xbox One Saturday night. Agreed! :)
