Yup, I upgraded to Froyo a couple of days ago, although aparently there is still a newer version that will be pumped out. I'll wait for the OTA for that, I'm not sure what the difference is with the verison I got.
Things seem a bit quicker, and I like having the extra screens for my original Droid. Also, being able to store apps to the SD card is awesome.

Or you can do it manually...and have it now. The Beauty of Android.
Upgraded yesterday manually. Had four software updates last night, and the one-touch update was wonderful. Also, I had installed TouchPro Launcher and love it, so I'm actually still using that over the launcher that comes with Froyo.

Have you tried Launcher Pro? Or is that what you meant by TouchPro Launcher? Launcher Pro is RIDICULOUSLY good. Especially the paid version "Plus".

Sorry. Brain spasm. Meant Launcher Pro. I installed it earlier this week and just love it. Question for you. What's the difference between the free and paid versions? Is it worth the upgrade?

The paid version has a few built in widgets that are pretty good. It's got a Calendar, a Favorites and a Bookmarks currently with more planned. Sure, there are other alternatives available on the market, but sometimes they don't work with Launcher Pro (specifically the built in Motorola Widgets on the X and Droid 2). So I just wanted to support the developer and give him the 2 or 3 bucks, whatever it was. I use the Bookmarks and Favorites widgets...they are pretty slick. That's pretty much the only difference right now.

Don't know if a better HTC offering could be comming down soon on Tmobile?
Nothing imminent from what I've read...especially nothing as nice as the Sammy. Those Galaxy S phones are legit.
If I was on T-Mobile, I'd still get a Nexus One...may be a little more difficult to find now that they aren't in production anymore, but I'm a huge fan of the vanilla Android OS as opposed to one with all of the window dressing HTC/Motorola/Samsung like to put on their phones.
Droid 2 is in my hands...and as expected, it's pretty damn awesome as well. Now I just have to decided between it and the Droid X. Decisions, decisions.
DB, I have to thank you for buying all these phones to continue paying my salary on a weekly basis, lol. How are you liking the keypad so far on the D2, have heard that the keys are a little bit more on the mushy side compared to the D1

You're welcome.
Keys are MUCH better on D2 compared to D1 in my opinion. The first one they were so flat it was hard to distinguish. I like the feel of the new one better. I'm now trying to get used to the "centered" and offset keys. It's an adjustment after using the D1 keyboard for so long. I'm quite impressed so far. I'm pretty sure the X will be returned. I like the size of the D2 much better for my dainty little hands.

Nice...hell of a phone. Those Galaxy S phones (Captivate, Fascinate, Vibrant, Epic 4g) are all ridiculously good. The one thing that I would not be able to get over however is the fact that they don't have a notification light to alert you of emails/calendar events/calls/texts/etc. How the hell could they leave that off? Makes no sense because it's built into Android.
The new Samsung Fascinate for Verizon is in stores today and WHOA. It's along the same lines as the other Galaxy S phones that have been released recently (Captivate, Vibrant, Epic, etc.) and holy crap...fantastic phone so far. Only have had it for a few hours this morning, but it seems to stack up VERY well with the Droid X and the Droid 2 I've got currently. I prefer the Droid X over the D2 just because of the screen size, and the Fascinate is nice middle ground. The phone is SO thin and light it just makes the X seem oversized (and of course it is).
We'll see if the Fascinate makes it through the weekend...but with the customizations I've done so far (scrapping Touchwiz for LauncherPro is first and foremost), this thing kicks some serious ass.
The notification light I complained about in the previous post has been "somewhat" remedied by an app called "No LED" so that you can have a little dot on your screen when you have a notification. Sure, it's not ideal, but it works well and kinda fixes the issue of no light.

I'm way more of a phone whore than anything...no doubt about it.
You got me beat by a mile when it comes to phones....getting my iPhone 4 today upgrading from the 3G. My company is finally moving to Outlook instead of Lotus F'ing Notes....

I'm due for my 1 year upgrade from Sprint at the end of this month.... Got the HTC Hero on launch day last October and have loved it (especially after I "rooted" it and upgraded to the latest hacked firmware about 6 months ago).
Anyway, I'm looking at the two 4G offerings, the Samsung Epic and the HTC Evo. I got used to the touchscreen typing of the Hero, so I'm not sure that I automatically need the flip out keyboard of the Epic.
Any opinions from people that i have tried both?

Picked up my first smart phone. Brand new in box MyTouch 3G for 100 bucks. DB, what's the verdict on this phone? I am looking for something else, but it's good for the time being. I am on T-Mobile. Can I get some ideas? I know nothing about smart phones. I was using my flip phone from 2004 but it just now died.

I haven't tried either since I'm on Verizon and I don't know anyone on sprint, but the Evo is running HTC Sense UI...which I'm not a fan of. I've got the Fascinate at the moment which is the same as the Epic sans the keyboard and I'm a huge fan of what Samsung did with their UI (as long as you use a different launcher like Launcher Pro). You've been using a Hero tho so you know all about the Sense UI, so if you want the same experience, stick with the Evo...just know that the battery life is horrendous. HTC seems to have trouble with that.
And Fletch...the MyTouch is another HTC phone. As a first smartphone, it'll do you well. I know a bunch of people with them and they love them. Good deal at 100 bucks.
