I agree Danimal. Goff was completely unaware of his surroundings. You need to always know what's around you. Like ray Lewis always said "it's a man's game out here!".
Had anyone else lit Goff up like that it wouldn't be an issue. Seattle has a lot of hard hitters. Sherman was crying all week about how unfair the Thursday games are and how it is unsafe. Then he hits a rookie qb as hard as possible, all while knowing Goff had zero clue he was coming and didn't brace for it at all. Goff is a big guy, and Sherman blew him up. He could have wrapped him up and rode him out of bounds. Just because he had a chance to lay him out doesn't mean he has to take it. Does he care about player safety, or does that only apply to himself and members of his team?
When the Seattle punter was laying there knocked out, they showed Carroll kinda smirking to himself. I get it that it was funny watching ryan bobble the ball in the open field, but that was probably the hardest hit he's ever taken in his life. All because Carroll is a coward and wanted to prove some kind of point. I don't like green bay or dallas, but I take solace in knowing Seattle can't beat either of those clubs, especially on the road.
Russell Wilson must really dislike playing in a culture of arrogance and hypocrisy. 12th man yo!!!!!! Sad, really.
I don't like Sherman at all but that was a clean hit, led with the shoulder and totally crushed Goff.
I don't know how you determine Goff has a concussion either, what kind of questions can you ask him that he could anwser correctly when not concussed?
Actually, that was one of the raps against Goff, that he's skinny and not that physical.
There were questions if he could take the punishment of the NFL game.

Isn't he 6'4 and 220 or so? That's not cam newton but he's also not 5'7 170 either.wco81 wrote:Actually, that was one of the raps against Goff, that he's skinny and not that physical.

220 may be generous. Some compared him to Bridgewater, some good mechanics like footwork but not a beast.

Even cam newton would have gotten rocked in that situation. Sherman hit him at full speed, at the perfect angle and Goff had zero idea he was coming. Richard the hypocrite Sherman.wco81 wrote:220 may be generous. Some compared him to Bridgewater, some good mechanics like footwork but not a beast.

I'm not sure any coach would want to take over these Rams.. their future drafts are going to be horrible due to going for Goff who looks like Eric Crouch.

I agree with you, Goff looks like he's just trying not to get killed.. which I don't blame him as the OL is horrible.. but most of his throws were terrible - some were dropped.. but that wide open TD throw into the ground was like WTF?

Eric Crouch killed Mizzou.. then he went to the Rams, got hit.. they tried to make him a safety but he couldn't take getting hit.pk500 wrote:I was thinking Tim Couch, but I get your drift, man.MizzouRah wrote:I'm not sure any coach would want to take over these Rams.. their future drafts are going to be horrible due to going for Goff who looks like Eric Crouch.

Chiefs really needed to call that time out?
Always cool to see a team get burned calling that so f***in gay TO before the fg.
Choke on it fat ass!

Regardless, a good effort to take the game into OT after the 3 Int's and the cocky Rodgers smile growing strong after the 17 point lead. With two minutes to go, I thought they could really pull it off but they only managed a FG.

Re: NFL 2016/2017
The Bears are competing and if they don't give Barkley a shot next year they are fools. Yeah he had a rough third quarter, or a typical Jay Cutler quarter. Difference is Jay would of packed it in if that happened and Barkley got us in position to win again. There are some bright spots, Meredith, Howard, Barkley. They need to fix the secondary and offensive line and go from there.
I've enjoyed every game he has started and keeping me watching a 3-11 team is something. My problem with the Bears is they have to accidentally find these bright spots. Howard would still be on the bench if Langford didn't get hurt. We would still be watching Hoyer right now if he was healthy. I don't understand how they judge talent but however they do, it's not their strong skill.

Bad news? Cutler's 12 4th quarter game-winning TD passes are the most in the NFL from 2009-2016.Danimal wrote:Difference is Jay would of packed it in if that happened and Barkley got us in position to win again.

Re: NFL 2016/2017
Texans finally benched the $72 million QB and put in Tom Savage, who has not played an NFL game in 2 years. Houston looks like they found their QB as he had the best passing day for any Texans QB this year and led them to a win down 20-8. The Texans actually looked like a pretty decent offense with Savage in the game. Not sure what they saw in Osweiler, but I have seen enough. 7-2 record as a starter at Denver last year in Manning's place, we now know was due mainly to Denver's #1 Defense last year.....
Re: NFL 2016/2017
I agree with what you say, but let's hold off on saying they found their QB. Let's see how Savage looks after a couple of weeks of game film and defenses gameplanning for him and not the big O.

Barkley also throwing some Jay-esque picks, too, but I like the idea of bringing him back to compete for the job. This team is at least another year away from being able to sniff a wild card, so why not? If nothing else he seems like a solid backup.RobVarak wrote:Bad news? The fallout from Phil Emery's GM days is really hitting hard now. Once Alshon leaves, the only draft pick left from his tenure who is worth anything is Kyle Long. Which also means Jordan Howard will be the only real offensive weapon on the team unless they bring in a good free agent.
I do like the front 7 foundation on defense, Floyd is thankfully coming around. What I hope happens is they focus on shoring up the secondary and build on the defense first, and then work on creating an offense to go with it.

Re: NFL 2016/2017
Most people don't see any drop off at the position going with Barkley and boy does that make the Cutler fan boys like Rob here mad. Since we're cherry picking stats Cutler doesn't even crack the top 30 on NFL Career Game-Winning Drives Leaders. He is behind such legends as Kerry Collins, Vinny Testaverde, Dave Kreig and Jake Delhomme.RobVarak wrote:Bad news? I guess on the plus side for you he has as many playoff appearances and the same record as TJ Yates at 1-1.

He looks as good as Jay does with only 4 NFL starts. Like I said save the money and use it wisely. Jay Cutler will never win anything, why continue to pay him that money?Brando70 wrote:Barkley also throwing some Jay-esque picks, too, but I like the idea of bringing him back to compete for the job. Re: NFL 2016/2017
I'm no fan boy, and of course they'd be mad to keep him around given his cost.
Like most Bears fans I know, you just can't seem to prevent the organization's top-to-bottom shittiness from totally clouding your ability to objectively assess Cutler. He's a dick and he's a mediocre NFL QB, these things are inarguable. But mediocre is mediocre, not terrible. It's a distinction with a difference.
Don't rush to shoehorn every Bears-related story into the Cutler-as-villain narrative. It's bad analysis and it takes the heat off the awful players, front office and coaches who are far more responsible for the organizational malaise of the last decade than Cutler or any other single player.

Re: NFL 2016/2017
That pretty inaccurate given the posts I've made on the team and the organization in the past. I said this team was in trouble 2 years ago and it's been a cluster f*** ever since. Cutler is not the only problem but he is a major costs keeping the organization from moving into the future. You don't pay a QB who has been in the league 11 years with 2 playoff appearances that kind of money. His contract dictated to the cheap ass ownership he must be kept but now they don't have that excuse. I don't want Romo in here or f***in another New England backup who will turn out to be s***. Keep this kid, he is serviceable and likely cheap. Maybe he turns into something, maybe he is at his peak. Fix everything else while you wait for your franchise QB.RobVarak wrote: Like most Bears fans I know, you just can't seem to prevent the organization's top-to-bottom shittiness from totally clouding your ability to objectively assess Cutler.
