But, see, that's the Catch-22. NHL 15 on last-gen is purportedly a roster update, excepting the new dialog. *If* that's the case, then dedicated EASHL players have *zero* need for it, other than keeping current with other EASHL players who've decided to go forward... fragmenting the player base.Aristo wrote:If it still does EASHL and the other stuff, it really might be the game worth buying for a lot of folks.
Don't get me wrong, I *want* the effort better expended on game play and I agree that the 'laundry list' post of missing modes is pretty disingenuous. The community is not up in arms over 3/4 of that list, I'd say. NHL 94 mode? Created plays?
But to regress, at best, 6 years (NHL 09 had 6v6 play) or, at worst, 11 years (NHL Rivals had 5v5 in 2003), in an increasingly online gaming world is an incredibly questionable move, especially when its sister product in FIFA had better online features a year prior on the hardware. Yes, I know FIFA has a bigger budget, but still... And, yes, I can forgive some of this transgression if OTP comes to next-gen somewhat soon.
That's why I think a cross-buy would be ideal. The community can move forward to 15 on next-gen, but last-gen could fill in for missing modes. By most accounts the last-gen version was a minimal investment by EA.
Instead, I'm an example of someone stuck with what appear to be two half-products and may refrain from either. If I had to get one, it would be next-gen, but at this point I'm not really certain what I'll do.
