That's why they jack up the prices. :) A lot of extra 20 minutes of play without the skill contest.

Tight affair between NAS-DET. Watch out for the Preds. I think they are really loaded this year and can reach the western finals. With the recent addition of Radulov, they can't be taken lightly, and everyone knows how well Rinne plays during the playoffs. DET is an experienced team though and they never panic no matter what. Another game that can go into OT tonight.

Agreed. Nashville can be scary.

I've got a feeling the game winner in the Flyers Pens OT is going to come early...just hope it's by the Fly Guys.

Wow! All the way back. I almost expect the flyers to fall behind 2-0 early, but I thought 3 might be too much.

Wake up call for the Pens.

Damn Internet crapped out right after the win! Schenn was huge tonight. He was physical, scored the tying goal...had an assist. I said it before - What a trade the Mike Richards trade turned out to be! Simmonds AND Schenn!! Briere is a playoff stud. The guy just scores in the playoffs. HUGE win!

NAS just got by DET, plenty of bad blood at the end of the game. This series will go the distance.

Canucks just starting vs Kings. Burrows scores first. Go 'Nucks, Love this time of the year...

I swear if I see another 'Nucks player shooting the puck out accidentally for a delay of game, I will wake up the neighborhood. Second 5 on 3 in a row for the Kings, as they capitalized on the 1st one. Good game going.

Do you think they'll make it back to the finals this year? I dont know who else can beat them in the west.

I am not to convinced by STL. Let's see if they can play playoff hockey. I know the Sharks sucked in the regular season but they're a playoff tested team. It will be interesting to see.

Canucks are more than capable to go all the way again, although my expectations this year are not as high as last year when they were by far the best team during the regular season. I think that the experience of the Sharks will get past the Blues, unless Halak plays on his head.

Watch out for NAS. That's one helluva of a team that can give Canucks some headaches should they meet in the conference finals.

Canucks have spent much of the game so far killing stupid penalties. Bitz just got thrown out of the game and a 5 minutes PP given to the Kings. Lot of chances by the visitors who are making most of their opportunities with the man advantage. Luongo has been huge, but his team needs to play better 5 on 5.

With 3 1/2 minutes left a broken play by the Kings and fortuitous skate pass from Carter to Penner, drew first blood for Kings. Brown had an empty netter. They had the better chances, Canucks spent almost half of the game killing penalties, they'll have to cut down on that. Quick was equally good.

Honestly the 'Nuckers should be pretty happy even in a loss. They lose a one goal game, essentially, even though they played short for what felt like most of the game, including multiple 5 on 3's and 5 minute majors. If that's Nashville and not LA, you're looking at a 7 or 8 goal game by the visitors.

But really none of this matters, obviously, because the playoffs really begin tonight when the champs hit the ice in defense of the title!

I took the Canucks in 7, but that series is going to be a low scoring slog. Every game will be close, and the Kings will not go away.

Dejan Kovacevic ‏ @Dejan_Kovacevic

If you're looking for reaction from #Pens, forget about it. They bailed like the place was on fire or something.
Yes! Get in their heads!! Teams react unpredictably though, so you never know what's gonna happen next in this series.

I won't clutter the board with in-depth flyers stuff, but I will be updating my blog after every game if the resident Flyers fans are looking for something to chew on.

Luongo kept giving the team a chance, but the strong forecheck by the Kings led by M. Richards made the difference. There's going to be a lot of 1 goal differential in this series, Kings are good at that and 'Nucks need to convert on their PP chances. From what I saw last night, they looked dangerous only on their last PP in the 3rd period where guys were shooting more instead of looking for the fancy pass. Obviously, they missed D. Sedin but give credit to LA, they came out stronger last night.

As for your Bruins, they should steam roll the Caps but if Ovie wakes up and they get decent goaltending, they have a chance. Go Caps.

I was Ok with Shanny's decision to suspend B. Bitz for his boarding infraction on Clifford last night but he dropped the ball by just suspending Weber with a fine for ramming 's head against the glass WWE style in the NAS-DET series. He deserved at least a game for that action.

Tight game in St Louis as the home team has a slight edge over the Sharks. One thing they can't afford is to lose another goalie as B. Elliot is on the sidelines with an upper body injury. Halak seems fine now after the time out.

And the Sharks take the first bite in double OT as Havlat scores the winner. All western series have a realistic chance of going the distance. Everything is sooo tight and even among the top 8 teams.
